Have stayed at both the Russell Inn and the Jolly Lodger, which is "owned" by the Jolly Lodger. Russell Inn is noisier (kids running through the hallways) and the staff is extremely not welcoming or particularly helpful. We made the switch to the Jolly Lodger when there was "no room at the Inn" and haven't looked back. Our FIRST choice...

Very clean and very friendly staff. Pet friendly, they even gave a gift bags for my dogs with toys and bones. They loved it there too. Overall great value. Easy to find, as it's right off hwy 16. Lots of parking.

I give it an average rating rather than poor, since you get what you pay for. This motel is across the street from the Russell Inn which is my usual hotel of choice when passing through. This year's trip I could not get a room, must remember to book well in advance. I found out the Jolly is owned by...

I was assigned the room as part of a field trip. I was the driver. The people in the suite next to me were smoking pot all night long so my bathroom smelled like a grass fire. I am concerned if a fire broke out that there is not adequate separation between the suites. Also it did not appear to...

I stay there here I go to Asessippi. Rooms are easier to book then Russell Inn which seems to fill up months in advance. The rooms are kind of small but feel homey and cozy. Perfect to pass out in after a long day on the slopes. Typical for a small town, motel however it was very clean! The staff...

Rooms were not as promised nor the ones promised when I booked the reservation. Room smelled a bit like pee. Worlds smallest bathroom with shower only. Furniture was old and bed lumpy. Good location to go to Asessippi ski resort. Warm room with microwave and fridge. Typical worn out small town motel.

Two nights at a reasonable rate and coupons for breakfast!! Staff were very helpful and mannerly - took complaints seriously and with compassion. Rooms were clean but bathroom needs a tub not just a shower. Will be staying there again as it is convenient!!

We were excited to be in Russel for skiing and booked with the Jolly Rodger as it seemed ok. We were quoted a rate of 75 dollars plus tax.(CAA rate) The motel is right on the highway. We found several hairs in the bed and some in the bathroom. When we stepped out of the shower bathroom onto the shower...

The Jolly Lodger was certainly not one of the better places to stay. The first room had a smaller bathroom than I had in my motor home. I actually had to slide my knees under the sink to get onto the toilet. Brutal. They moved me to a room with the toilet mounted the other way...but the seat was broken....

Since 2009, we have updated our rooms, complete with new furniture. We did have some connection issues with our wireless and since this comment, we have updated our server and our wireless internet connection is now consistent.

We spent 2 nights there and used their ski and stay bundle. The rooms were very clean and its just across the road from the Russel Inn so it was not far to go to eat. I think it has some connection with the Russel Inn as all the coupons were for their restaurant. I will be staying there again...

“Ask for rooms on the South side if you don't like highway semi traffic noise (although it drops off throughout the night). Rooms are usually well-heated so adjust the temperature right away.”
