We had not planned our trip in advance so I had done minimal research. I was a bit surprised about how Rio Tropicales prices out their packages. Our family of 6 could have done a one day white water raft trip (the full river run) for $94 pp including 2 meals but instead opted to stay the night. It was... More

My family of 5 ( including 3 teens ages 15, 16 and 19) took the 3-day/2 night package and happy that we did. There was enough time to just sit and enjoy the beautiful setting -- roar of river, peace of the jungle. Only way to get to lodge was by kayak or raft. We had 2 rooms. My husband... More

Thanks you ver much for such an important review. We will look into our canyoning and zip line activities, as this year there have been many changes due to a moving tree, where wehad to elmnate the platform , we later made a longer course and by December it will be trple the fun. We will also look into the... More

First off the staff makes this place. Special thanks to Jorge and Esteban my two guides. I stayed two nights, Jorge was our guide on the way in. My travel agent did not give me details, I didn't have flip flops, Jorge gave me his and left without any just on my promise to leave them there for him. Jorge... More

We rafted in and stayed at the lodge for 3 nights (longer than most people). If you want a total escape in a fantastic natural setting, this is the place - it is so remote. We are a family of 4 with 2 grown boys. We went at the end of May early in the rainy season, and the river... More

I have been adventuring with 22 Senior Citizens. This was a 2 day white water rafting trip down the Pecquare river. So exciting. Beautiful scenery and wildlife. This amazing place is only accessible by raft or kayak. The rafting guides did the cooking and the local indigenous people maintained the accommodation. It was spotlessly clean.

By far our most favorite place we stayed while in Costa Rica. The whole experience, staff, surroundings, food, room, wildlife, hiking, waterfalls...there are too many awesome things we have to say about this place! Beyond words... Just.go.there.

I just stayed at the Rios Tropicales Lodge in April 2016 for two full days. First off we white water rafted it to and from the lodge. The waters are a bit low in April which is towards the end of the dry season but still fun. The lodge itself is very comfortable and picturesque sitting in the middle of... More

We spent one night at Rios Tropicales while on 2 day rafting trip down the Pacuare River with an REI tour. After a fun whitewater rafting trip to get here, you will be absolutely delighted at the accommodations, food, views and atmosphere. With no access to wifi, top-notch lodging and hammocks by the rapids, this is the perfect spot to unwind and relax. There is a really high hanging bridge nearby over the rapids - it was higher and more scenic... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our multi-day trips treat you to an exceptional adventure vacation experience combining rafting on the Pacuare with a stay at our remote "Eco-Lodge", tucked in the rainforest on the banks of the river. A trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and ravishing rapids; Pacuare is the quintessential tropical river. Along its course lay several densely vegetated gorges, which shelter, jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, sloths and an incredible variety of birds. Also found within these gorges, is some of the best whitewater in the world. "at its lodge, hammock-filled, thatch-roofed huts, offering dorm and honeymoon style rooms, surround an even larger thatch-roofed lodge net to a gurgling waterfall linking the huts to the lodge’s open-walled dining room, bar and reading room are bamboo-railed boardwalks that make wearing anything but river sandals sacrilegious. Don’t get so comfortable in the reading room’s hammock; however, that you miss the cocktail-hour bell; in true jungle fashion, all apres-paddle drinks are served in coconut shells." (Paddler magazine article, jan./feb.1999, edb). ... more   less
