The hotel exceeded mu expectations 100%, everytime, in every aspect. The food was beyond what I ever expected from an all-inclusive, the open bar selection was the best I've ever seen. The friendliness of the staff was above and beyond; always in a good mood ready to help. I felt like there was enough staff everywhere too, not like they were struggling to keep up. The room accomodations were nice, exceptionally clean as was the rest of the hotel. The beach was also very clean, a little on the rocky side but that's just the type of sand they have on this coast. The ocean floor was nice and smooth though, perfect for going in and taking a dip. One thing I noticed was that there were more than enough pool chairs for everyone; no fighting over spots anywhere. I can't say enough good things! It was exactly what we envisioned and then some.

I went with my wife at the beginning of March. The place was fantastic. We had the jacuzzi suite on the balcony on the top floor, and it was worth it. Such a romantic way to spend an evening in a hot tub right there by the ocean. The view was great. The staff was all friendly, helpful, and responsive. The entire place was clean, and I had no worries about Covid. The staff all wore masks and guests almost always did as well. The food was great. A large breakfast variety, a good lunch, and great dinner choices. The Mexican restaurant was fantastic, and the beef tenderloins were very good. The pool was fantastic and staff in masks outdoors was always bringing us margaritas or pina coladas. Then you could go down to the beach and the sand was perfect. And during Covid, the place was not full, so this goes down as one of my favorite relaxing trips. I recommend this place for sure.

Impressed by everything. When I went, the minibar had water and non-alcoholic beverages, but no liquor. I did not ask about that, but I believe that it was due to the COVID protocol. Main and specialty restaurants were very good, except for the Japanese "Kyoto" which was terrible. Room were clean, bed was comfortable, but pillows were a bit too small or thin. Other that those relatively small points, I enjoyed my stay very much and will definitely go back.

When we arrived, we noticed that we were not getting what we had agreed and paid for. We booked through Delta Vacations in October 2019 and spent $ 25000.00 to take all our children, their spouses and grandchildren (24 people) to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Due to Covid 19 it was twice delayed. We had originally booked at Iberostar, but that resort cancelled our reservation 4 weeks before the date of our arrival due to other priorities. Delta Vacations then booked us at the Riu Palace Pacifico. I had many questions and concerns about rooms, kid friendly and the vendors. We were told by our travel agent that Delta Vacations new arrangement with this resort would accommodate us just as well and was very kid friendly. Problems we encountered: We originally had booked for an ocean view, but all rooms ended up with a view toward the center of the courtyard. Sleeping accommodations were inadequate. Our single daughter and her two sons should have had two full size double beds and an additional roll away bed. What we received was a room with only 2 small “double” 49-inch beds. There was not enough room to sleep them. After calling the front desk they were told no roll-away bed was scheduled, they then made multiple requests before a roll-away was finally brought to the room after 10:00pm. Our daughter and her husband should have had a suite with one king size bed and two double beds and a roll away bed. They got one room with two small 49” wide double beds and their children were in another room with two small double beds and the requested roll away bed never came. They shared a space of 8 feet wide with a crack in the middle. One boy 15, one girl 20 and one girl 14 for 4 nights. This is unacceptable. Our son and wife should also have had a suite with a king size bed and two regular double beds with an additional roll away bed. They also got two separate small double beds in one room for the parents, and the three sons (9,11,15) were around the corner in another room away from their parents with two small double beds and again no roll away bed. After two days they became upset and insisted the front desk do something and were able to move the boys in another room next to their parents. For our other daughter and her husband and their four sons I had also booked a suite with a king size bed and two regular double beds and two roll away beds. Instead, the parents had two small double beds in one room and the 4 boys had another separate room with two small double beds and again no roll away beds. These rooms had also separate entrances and were not joined as was originally promised. We booked as a family but were placed separately throughout the resort. It was very inconvenient for us to do activities together when separated as we were. We were guaranteed that the Riu Palace Pacifico was “kid friendly”. There was nothing for the children to do except be in the big pool or go to the beach, where they spent most of the time. I was also guaranteed that there would be no peddlers on the resort to disrupt our experience, and it was roped off. That is not correct. We spent a lot of time at the beach, and I noticed there were signs designating the property line boundary and specifically stated that street sellers were not to enter the resort area. This signage was ignored to the point that we were asked to purchase their wares on average every 5 to 7 minutes breaking Covid-19 restrictions. (Sunglasses, clothes, hats, rugs, bracelets, silver fishes, stuffed animals etc.) The most disturbing was one family of sellers with 7 or 8 children, ages 2 to 16 flogging their stuffed animals for each day we were there. Held their meeting spot and parked between us and the ocean view for most of the day. Their meeting place was about 25 feet from our lounge chairs, and they would send the children to walk in between the guest to show us their wares. At one time I was watching my youngest granddaughter, 7-weeks old, she was asleep in the little bassinet beside me, when the three youngest children of the peddler family came without masks right next to the basinet (18” away) and started looking at the baby and showing the stuffed animals. I don’t blame the children but the property management. It was very upsetting for me. We were wearing masks and keeping our distance and the resort is not doing anything to keep sellers unmasked off private property. The most disturbing to watch was this family sat 25 feet away from us, the mother and 4 little girls took their straw hats off to check their hair for lice. About the only positives we could give was the Buffett and the specialty restaurants were good and other than the generally unresponsive front office, other employee efforts we received was courteous and made us feel comfortable. Because we wanted our children to celebrate with us and we had invited them, they did not complain and made the best of it. I am very frustrated and saddened that what we got and what we expected were so different. I cannot give Riu Palace Pacifico a positive review.

The staff is exceptional from Denisse at the front desk to Bruno at the pool to Sam at the buffet. And I can't forget Yaki in the Toscano restaurant. I wish I could remember other names but everyone was above and beyond sensational. Everywhere we looked someone was cleaning their assigned area, very impressive.
