Our first time there and we will definitely be back!… We really needed this weekend away… Times are different right now, and a weekend away like this really did take our minds off of all that is going on in the world today. We stayed in the hush puppy cottage… It’s very cute very cosy and perfect for couples and of course their dog 😃.. our hosts Steve Anna and Jakob were very accommodating and very nice people. We brought our dog as it is pet friendly and she enjoyed every moment we were there. Lake edge cottages do not disappoint, plan your weekend or week getaway! You sure will be glad you did.

If you want Lovely & Engaging Hosts (Anne, Steve,& Jakob) then Lake Edge Cottages is the place to be for Fun & Relaxation. Although it is a close drive from the urban sprawl, Lake Edge still feels a million miles away from the noise and commotion. Great Cabins, Pool, and Water Sports as well as docking facilities. If you are of the mindset that "Your Vibe Attracts your Tribe" you will most definitely meet the other friendly guests. Many Thanks for our return stay.

If you enjoy a peaceful, beautiful, dog friendly and a cottage atmosphere, this is the place for you. I found Lake Edge on the internet back in 2000 and have gone up for a vacation, every year and every season since. The water is gorgeous in the summer, and the views are amazing in the fall as is the white fluffy snow in the winter. It is very clean and supplied to the max. The one reason we chose Lake Edge was because we could bring our 4-legged friends, and I'm not sure who has more fun, our dogs or us !! I can't wait until October 2010 for our next visit to this relaxing vacation spot. The hosts; Pam & Peter are very accomodating, friendly and welcoming. I highly suggest a visit to this tiny little resort.

Our family (daughter and pet beagle) returned for a second visit over a four day weekend. Peter and Pam continue to be fantastic hosts. Peter helped us launch our boat for a day of fishing and cruising the beautiful lake. Lake Edge is a great place to relax amongst a beautiful, peaceful setting.

Too bad we only booked three days here....:-(

Definitely not enough time to take-in the natural beauty of Lake Edge. Pam and Peter are wonderful hosts of a stunning, peaceful and well-kept slice of heaven. Our two Golden's loved swimming off the dock and watching the Loons and Blue Herons (we even saw a fox). The fishing is great and a short drive into Lakefield gets you anything you could possibly need. Our cottage was clean and the shower was surprisingly large. The kitchen is stocked with EVERYTHING you need!
Also, Lake Edge has the cleanest pool ever!

A ride on the pontoon boat with your fur-kids is a MUST! I recommend this cottage in a heart-beat. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay :-)

My wife and I discovered Lake Edge through a Beagle rescue fundraiser where we received a gift certificate. Our weekend stay was in one of the fully equipped cottages -- complete with kitchen (including utensils, plates, pots, etc.) and BBQ. It gave us everything we needed for our stay. The cottage included a deck with a fenced enclosure for our Beagle to relax off-leash. The deck offered a beautiful west-facing view for us to enjoy the sunset. The bed was comfortable and linens spotless. We used their paddle boat, kayaks, and canoes to enjoy the lake. The sandy beach is only a few steps from the cottage. The lake itself is inviting for swimmers -- though wear sandals or water shoes as it gets rockier the further you go into the lake.

It's a short drive to nearby Lakefield which has grocery, liquor, and beer stores. Lake Edge owners Peter and Pam prepared us well with a detailed welcome email with lots of suggestions for places to visit. Their hospitality made it feel like we were a part of the family.

It was pretty evident that we are not alone in our opinion of Lake Edge. The guest book included accounts from families who stay year after year.

Overall it was a fantastic find. We plan to refer friends and family, especially those with four-legged family members.

We've been going to Lake Edge Cottages for several years. It's our go-to getaway with our dog Buster. The cottages are very comfortable, the waterfront view is beautiful and it's cosy, rustic without being rough. Buster has the run of the woods and we get to have a relaxing respite from city life. Nearby Lakefield has a butcher store that is fantastic. We always pick up our groceries after we've unpacked. The town is less than 10 minutes away and has everything you need.
We've stayed in most of the lakefront cottages including the one with a hot tub in winter! Great fun! We've had friends stay with us (4 adults plus one teenager) plus our schnoodle. It's a little crowded for the 1-bedroom cottage but with good friends, totally doable. One year we cooked a turkey dinner at Thanksgiving. I would definitely recommend Lake Edge Cottages to anyone with a dog who wants to escape the city and experience the great outdoors. There's excellent hiking in the nearby provincial park. One tip: we always bring two canvas folding chairs and an extra lamp (if you're like me and like mood lighting).
Pam and Peter are terrific hosts and they are always improving the property. We've stayed at other places that "allow" dogs but in our experience only Lake Edge "welcomes" dogs!
Lakefield also has lots of shops to browse in and you can rent dvds for entertainment at night. Each cottage has a dvd player with the tv.

2 girlfriends and I stayed here for 4 days ad had a great time. The cottage was nice. We didn't have One on the water but that didn't bother us. We used the hot tub at least twice daily. We also used the pOl. They have things to use for both (kayaks, canoes, dingys, noodles, etc.) we went canoing. Each cottage has a bbq and a hot tub, private deck with table and chairs. You really Only need to bring food and clothes. It is a dog friendly place for sure! The grounds are well maintained. It was nice and quiet while we were here. The owners Peter and Pam are wonderful. They will help you with anything you need. I will definitely recommend this to people and will come back with my boyfriend and 2 Cairns!

We had a great time at Lake Edge Cottages. The owners bend over backwards to accommodate your needs and are always handy if you needs something. But you don't want for much as it is a tranquil area, yet close to town. Clean, and comfy bedding and all the little extras have been thought of, down to the paper towels! They offer so much.
Beside the nature, my three favourite things were: the POOL!, hiring a pontoon boat ride for a scenic tour and ice cream stop, and most importantly, we could bring along
our fur baby!!! YEP, it's dog friendly. We will be back soon...so much more to explore in the area too. Thanks for a wonderful time, we look forward to our next stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a cottage right on the water. You'll see lovely sunsets and the doggies love it too.

A family vacation to remember!
We were looking for a family cottage rental that was dog friendly and decided to try Lake Edge Cottages. What a great find. I have very fond childhood memories of a family summer cottage and our stay at Lake Edge brought them flooding back. We all LOVED swimming in the lake (especially our Portuguese Water Dog) and the pool, camp fires, canoeing, trail walks, bunk beds, the hot tub, and just sitting around playing board games, reading and enjoying the amazing view from the deck. The trails around the pond are a sanctuary on their own and perfect for a morning run, or a walk with the dog. The cottage was very comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, and the BBQ was better than what we have at home! Lakefield is a cosy little town, very close by with great shops. Peter and Pam are gracious hosts and made us feel at home. We will be back, in fact I wish I was there right now.
