We spent a week at Chalet Valluga while skiing the local resorts. We were treated like family by the incredibly attentive owners and staff. Cozy and comfortable, the hotel is nestled in Farellones which is practically ski-in and ski-out for El Colorado resort. It is also about a 7 min drive to La Parva (our favorite of the three) and 30 min to Valle Nevado (road conditions permitting). The owners were always available for any needs and questions we had during our visit. They were a joy to chat with about everything and anything. We had to change plans twice due to airline problems and then due to the weather, and we were accommodated without any issues. Breakfast and dinner are included with your stay, and that was huge because there are really just a couple of restaurants in town. Chilean wine, beer and cocktails served at the hotel are delicious. The hot tub is perfect for sunsets, so definitely reserve your spot. We are seasoned skiiers and come for the snow, and this place was absolutely perfect for us to leave the comfort of home skiing in the US and venture out.…
We came at the end of season just to relax, see the sights and take pictures. We had the most amazing time here, breakfast and dinner were great, with the owners carefully looking at every detail. Complimentary wine and cheese before dinner was awesome. The rooms are not big, ours had a great bed, very clean and with a closet! Walking distance to the winter park and quick drive to the resorts. We are experienced travelers and this was a great stay: a true home away from home! I would return anytime and recommed it!
The only good thing abouth this hotel is its location. About the problems: I’ll start with the room. I am partly to blame because we started organizing the trip a little late: the best options weren't available anymore and the prices were super high. Additionally, as I live in Colombia, I was sure the prices were showed in colombian pesos (but they were in dollars, 3 times higher than expected). So, the fact is that this hotel charges 520 dollars a day for the worst room I've ever stayed. I’ve stayed in ski resorts in the US that don’t charge that much and the service and room canno even compare to this one. They tell you the room "El Pinar" fits 3 or 4 people (one small full-bed and one bunk-bed). It happens you have to occupy the bunk-bed with your luggage, because the room is much smaller than it appears to be in the photos. The bathroom is a whole other problem (almost impossible to take a shower in it, so small the shower area is). They offer breakfast and dinner included (no beverages, you even pay for water), but both of them are really ordinary, few options and the food is bland. It is a shame because there are no other options in the area. If you plan to stay there even though you’ve read this report, don't stay in the room "El Pinar" (it was the one we stayed, the only one with no balcony, almost no natural light, small bathroom and the most expensive because it supposedly “fits 4 people”, even though we have no idea how).…
The biggest advantage Chalet Valluga has is pricing. There aren't a lot of places to stay in the area and this is cheaper than staying at one of the Valle Nevado lodges. But it was still quite pricey! The room was small, but with a walk-in closet and balcony that compensated. Amazing sunsets and cozy, wood-fueled hot tub. The food was bland and unimaginative.
Great accommodations, clean and pleasant, with a staff that's eager to please. Food was good and the wine and cheese hour before dinner was a pleasant surprise. I would stay here again if I return to the area to ski.
Chalet Valluga is a beautiful boutique hotel in the village of farellones. The hotel is a great place to explore the local ski resorts of El Colorado and Valley Sierra. The Chalet has a free courtesy bus to El Colorado and a shuttle bus to Valley Sierra can be arranged for a small fee. The food is delicious and I especially liked the deserts. After a long days skiing you can book an hour in the hot tub to relax your sore muscles. The hotel staff are efficient and friendly. Our room was available at 9am on the day of arrival and this allowed me to get the 10am shuttle to the slopes and maximize my skiing time.
We loved everything about this hotel for our 3 night stay. The return transfer to the ski slopes every day is great. We loved the complimentary cheese and wine every afternoon on our return from skiing and the hot tub in the evenings watching the sunset is not to be missed. We were looked after very well and the food was good. The owner was extremely helpful and professional. A great hotel!
Every detail has been attended to at Chalet Valluga. Peaceful, quiet, welcoming. Easy trip up to the slopes. Breakfast and dinner included was the cherry on top. Make sure to watch the sunset from the wood fired hot tub. Nothing better.
Excellent staff with customized and attentive service. Easy transfers to the ski hills by van each day. Lovely room with fantastic sunset views. Wine and cheese in early evening, and wood fire-heated hot tub are nice touches. Ski room was secure and appreciated the boot heater ! The breakfast/dinner can feel repetitive when staying for a week or longer.
My husband and I spent 11 days in South America and can honestly say that Chalet Valluga was the only hotel that felt like home. Upon arriving in Farellones (using the driver that Dorin kindly arranged for us!) VERY late - around 10:30 PM - Dorin had a snack waiting for us. From that very moment, we knew our stay would be special. Every morning, Dorin visited us at breakfast to arrange our ski shuttle. Every afternoon after arriving home from skiing, Dorin and Margarita greeted us as we walked by the front desk. Margot (not 100% on spelling!) was the sweetest and funniest shuttle driver and made our treks to Valle Nevado and La Parva enjoyable. The Chalet Valluga team works tirelessly to ensure a pleasant and comfortable stay. We stayed in a basic Double Room and as pictured on the website, it is MICROSCOPIC!! We barely fit in the room with our luggage (it made hotels in France look roomy). That said, they offer suitcase storage for those able to fit the contents of their suitcases into the tiny closet. The room / bathroom is clean, with great WiFi and the view from the balcony is unbelievable. Breakfast at Chalet Valluga kept us fueled throughout an entire day of skiing; they serve delicious eggs, breads, fruits, cold cuts, juices, etc. The wine and cheese pre-dinner snack was such a treat - we loved enjoying it on the terrace, watching the sun set by the fire pits...so COZY! Finally, the dinners were plentiful, with 4 different chafers of main course dishes, a soup, and 2 salads. Additionally, they served amazing desserts along with a chocolate fondue. Our final recommendation is to try their Pisco Sour - it was among the best we had on our 11 day trip! Thanks to Dorin and your amazing team for a great stay!…
