We came at the end of season just to relax, see the sights and take pictures. We had the most amazing time here, breakfast and dinner were great, with the owners carefully looking at every detail. Complimentary wine and cheese before dinner was awesome. The rooms are not big, ours had a great bed, very clean and with a closet! Walking distance to the winter park and quick drive to the resorts. We are experienced travelers and this was a great stay: a true home away from home! I would return anytime and recommed it!
The only good thing abouth this hotel is its location. About the problems: I’ll start with the room. I am partly to blame because we started organizing the trip a little late: the best options weren't available anymore and the prices were super high. Additionally, as I live in Colombia, I was sure the prices were showed in colombian pesos (but they were in dollars, 3 times higher than expected). So, the fact is that this hotel charges 520 dollars a day for the worst room I've ever stayed. I’ve stayed in ski resorts in the US that don’t charge that much and the service and room canno even compare to this one. They tell you the room "El Pinar" fits 3 or 4 people (one small full-bed and one bunk-bed). It happens you have to occupy the bunk-bed with your luggage, because the room is much smaller than it appears to be in the photos. The bathroom is a whole other problem (almost impossible to take a shower in it, so small the shower area is). They offer breakfast and dinner included (no beverages, you even pay for water), but both of them are really ordinary, few options and the food is bland. It is a shame because there are no other options in the area. If you plan to stay there even though you’ve read this report, don't stay in the room "El Pinar" (it was the one we stayed, the only one with no balcony, almost no natural light, small bathroom and the most expensive because it supposedly “fits 4 people”, even though we have no idea how).…
The biggest advantage Chalet Valluga has is pricing. There aren't a lot of places to stay in the area and this is cheaper than staying at one of the Valle Nevado lodges. But it was still quite pricey! The room was small, but with a walk-in closet and balcony that compensated. Amazing sunsets and cozy, wood-fueled hot tub. The food was bland and unimaginative.
Great accommodations, clean and pleasant, with a staff that's eager to please. Food was good and the wine and cheese hour before dinner was a pleasant surprise. I would stay here again if I return to the area to ski.
Chalet Valluga is a beautiful boutique hotel in the village of farellones. The hotel is a great place to explore the local ski resorts of El Colorado and Valley Sierra. The Chalet has a free courtesy bus to El Colorado and a shuttle bus to Valley Sierra can be arranged for a small fee. The food is delicious and I especially liked the deserts. After a long days skiing you can book an hour in the hot tub to relax your sore muscles. The hotel staff are efficient and friendly. Our room was available at 9am on the day of arrival and this allowed me to get the 10am shuttle to the slopes and maximize my skiing time.
