I was booked a room at Hotel Corbie and after reading the reviews on Tripadvsor I got quite worried. However, apparently there are rooms on the ground floor that belong to the hotel, while the upper floors are apartments for rental. I have stayed on e night in a ground floor hotel room, and although basic, it was more than enough for a one night stay. Comfortable bed, heating working properly in the room and the bathroom, a couple of chocolates wee offered, wi-fi worked just fine, breakfast was very good (even with freshly squeezed orange juice) and the staff was most welcoming and friendly. It is located in the centre of Mol and within walking distance to good restaurante options. Would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at the Corbie in Mol during a recent business trip and first impressions were not too good based on appearance only. However the receptionist was helpful, the room was clean, the bed very comfortable, the shower powerful and location extremely quiet. The TV had many international channels, including BBC, and the minibar is complimentary! The hotel also arranges local transfers with its driver Mark who was extremely friendly. I was only in Mol outside of business hours but the town itself seemed pretty nice with a good selection of bars, restaurants and shopping - the hotel itself does not have a restaurant, but does have a bar. Breakfast is basic fare but what you would expect at less than 80 euro per night. I have since tried to book the Corbie again but found it fully booked so I will try the Corbie in nearby Lommel shortly. I can't comment on local attractions as was only visiting briefly for work.

To begin with, the hotel parking was not clearly indicated. The underground private parking was slightly flooded. The reception is not available 24/7, let alone that you always find someone behind it. The elevator is very narrow. Leading up to the rooms is also a special experience. In the halls there are children's carriages and laundry racks. You think you're here more abroad than at home.
Super lots of noise, doors slamming every now and then until after midnight, neighbors who are loud and disrespectful also until after midnight!!!! You really don't sleep well here!!! Not even with earplugs. Besides, the bedroom and bathroom were teeming with fruit flies.
Breakfast is only half and half. Jam/choco doesn't taste how it should be. The cereal has been in it longer than allowed, the yogurt is tame the date of the current day good in terms of shelf life. The fruit was all fruit flies.
They were fairly tasty breakfast cakes, coffee and fruit juice was decent and charcuterie / cheese was also ok.
We are quickly satisfied, but you can get your money's worth.
You don't have that here at all.
This hotel should have a star taken away!! And then I'm mild.
Never again nor in their other hotels!

We ended up here in an emergency when we had to vacate our house - I can't praise the staff highly enough!
They were sympathetic, flexible and helpful at every point. Even giving my daughter a pack of Haribo on her birthday!
The breakfast buffet is small but tasty; the family suite is an excellent size and the location is great.
A special mention to 3 ladies: Charlotte, Jelle and Monika for their special help and support; thank you, ladies!

Mol, Belgium is a nice medium sized village. The Cafe Auberge, just down the street from Corbie, is excellent, though the area seems to be "growing" a bit and getting a wee bit crowded. The Corbie - a neglected and overpriced hotel. Ridiculous decor. While clean, expect little things to be wrong - broken toilet paper holder, a few burnt out light bulbs, preposterous "carpeting", and either an overwhelming pine cleaner scent or some other more offensive odor. It's a shame, really. For the price you deserve more, and there is enough business in town for them to spring for a few bucks. The black painted walls in the hall do NOTHING to make the place inviting. C'mon guys-get with the program or I'll move to Corbie Geel which is MUCH better. Free porn channel though...

Dear, Sorry for the late reply; only found out recently that I can react. We are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay and the interior design of the hotel. However, since your stay in 2012, we have worked on this. During that time renovation was sttill in progress. About the broken things you mention; you are right to complain about this! This should have been ok, and we apologies for the inconvenience this might have caused! Thank your for your comments. We hope to welcome you again and show the improvements we have made. Best regards Jan Baptist Koch Manager Corbie Mol

The apartments cost >€1000 per month PLUS extra for electricity and gas, for a 4 month contract. No cleaning or linen/towel changes are included. For this high price you might expect reasonable accommodation, but you won't get that.

I had one of the upgraded “refurbished” apartments which only meant that they had replaced the carpet with cheap laminate flooring, and the walls had been painted. The furniture was very old and basic and chipped and the ancient sofa looked like the previous occupant had incontinence. There was mould on the walls from a leaking roof, and large holes in the walls where heating pipes passed through. Internet was free but unreliable, always breaking down and when it worked it was extremely slow. The kitchen was tiny and unbelievably basic. The shower was an annoying trickle where the hot water would shut off entirely for several seconds at a time, leaving it stone cold! The heating regularly broke down and anyway the radiators were situated in strange places meaning that the lounge and bedroom were always cold in winter. I suppose I could have bought an electric heater but I would have to pay for the extra electricity! The whole place (apartment and building in general) has an air of neglect and decay.

Need I go on? Regrettably this aparthotel is taking advantage of the shortage of business accommodation in the area by renting out substandard accommodation at eye-watering prices. Additionally, restrictive contracts and monetary penalties mean you are stuck once you move in. I have stayed in budget aparthotels in Portugal and even Africa, and Corbie Mol was the worst by a mile. Thankfully my contract expires next week and I won’t be back even if I have to sleep in my car.

Dear Barry, Thank your for your comments. During 2012, a lot of work was in progress; we installed a central heating system, and for that, pipes had to be installed throughout the building. The wholes were only covered afterwards, so it is very well possible these were still open during your stay. The first two months, the system had some problems, and indeed shutted down regular. However, Corbie staff, and the company who installed the central heating, did every thing possible to have the system up and running asap. To my knowlegde, it was never down for more then a few hours. I understand this was not nice, and apologies for the inconvenience. Luckely, those problems are solved, and the system runs smoothly now. I also understand your remark that the building had an air of neglect and decay. As I said, many work was done in 2012, to have the whole building renovated. One thing I completely disagree with; we do not have restrictive conttracts, on the contrary; we try to be very flexible when it come to duration and check out dates. Too bad you rather sleep in the car then come back; I'd love to show you the improvements we have mede. best regards Jan Baptist Koch Manager Corbie

This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I have traveled for business for many years. To start, I arrived on Sunday. There is no one at the desk on Sundays, and my key with my name and room number were just sitting on the desk which was close to the open outside door. So unsafe. There were garbage and empty beer cans and liquor bottles all over the front and side of the building. Looked like the area had been used as a dumping ground. Go up to the room, and there are 5 stained mattresses in hallway, along with more garbage! There is also no ventilation in the room, so the patio door must be open to get air. The door came off its hinges when I tried to open. Also, no bolt lock on the door. Couldn't get another hotel late on Sunday, so I was stuck there. Didn't sleep but 2, and I had to be at an important business meeting early the next day. I left that day. It is a dirty, dark, dank place with soiled mattresses in the hallway. Bad, bad, bad.

Dear Sir, I regret to hear your stay was so bad. On Sundays, the reception is indeed closed between 12 and 17h, but there's always someone reachable by phone, and if necessary, present within 10 minutes in the hotel. About the garbage; this happened before, especially on sunday mornings, after saturday night parties in the city. I will take note of this, and have my staff pay more attention to this and have it cleaned more often. About the matrasses; the people living in the apartment there, where painting it, and placed all there's stuff outside for the weekend. This gave indeed a messy impression, but was a one time event. Sorry that this bothered you. There's ventilation in the bathroom, and 2 windows and a door that can be opened, so stating there's no ventilation seems incorrect? We'll check the hinge from the door. Bolt lock? Doors can be closed, and we are running this hotel for more then 20 years and never had a forced break into a hotel room. Extra lock seems a bit unnecessary then. I am really sorry to hear that your experience in our hotel was so bad... I do hope the room itself was ok, you enjoyed our extended breakfast, had a pleasant check out and noticed all litter in the street/frontside was removed on Monday morning. Thank you for sharing this. Best regards Jan Baptist
