There are some places you would love to love! I always had a twisted, somehow fantasised dreamlike vision of France in the 1960s. Imagining people did not take the highway but small "routes nationales", a famous red guide on their lap to find one of those magical "auberges" set along the roads. And I had heard about this one for... More

Have been here a few times, but many years have passed, so let's start with our room, which was spacious but old fashioned and not in a good way, the last time I was there which must have been at least 13 years before and the rooms were exactly the same, I would suggest a face lift is needed here.... The reception at Auberge de l'Atre by both M. and Mme. Salamolard was warm and accommodating. The room was simple but nice, and completely quiet and private, with a small terrasse. The food was outstanding, as was the dinner service. And they pricing was quite reasonable given that we were guests at demi-pension and we seemed not to have a... More

The amuses were nice and gave the impression that we were onto a treat. Not. The menu's on offer were expensive. Not using the offered menu's even more so. I had a starter and a main. After that no desire for a desert anymore. The price you have to pay for very simple gesiers on a basic salad with a... More

A nice hotel and we stayed in a good sized room. The restaurant was very expensive with no reasonably priced option. There were two set menus in the evening of 59euros or 65 euros. We think there should be a set menu in the range of 30 to 45 euros as we have typically found in French hotels.

We did not like the room which we were allocated after booking by e-mail, it was in the attic with only roof lights, but M.Salamolard without hesitation re-arranged his bookings to find us a nice room (room 4) with a view of the garden. The highlight of this Auberge is the exceptional food along with the personal attention of the... More

A nice auberge a short drive away from QLT, in the middle of nature. Friendly and competent host. Guide-Michelin featured site with good restaurant. Comfortable rooms with nice bathrooms.

l'Auberge de l'Atre is an excellent restaurant. On arrival we felt straight away at ease with the friendly welcome. The food was wonderfully prepared and after speaking to the Chef it seems that they carrefully select their produce. Great service. After the great meal we enjoyed a lovely night in the hotel which was equally impressive. As they say in... More

Every hotel and restaurant has it's own ambiance, and the cheerful and warm reception guests receive here is due to the attention by Odile and Francis, the owners/proprietors and chef of this country inn. We arrived on a chilly, rainy day and what a treat to find a fire going in the large (at least 10-foot) country fireplace of the... More

Francis and Odille are very welcoming and helpful, the food is superb, the room pleasant and comfortable. They went out of their way to make my husband's 40th birthday memorable and relaxed. We would love to return and stay longer. I think it helps if you speak French, although Francis has good English. They persevered with my okish French, which... More
