We stayed 10 days in hotel “Hissar SPA Complex” in October. This is one of the best hotels in Hissar, very popular with the Bulgarians and famous for its outdoor three-level swimming pool with mineral water. We enjoyed spending a lot of time in this swimming pool despite the fact that the weather was wet and foggy. Breakfast was rather rich but always the same, during our stay the menu never changed. One negative point is a cleaning of the rooms, sometimes they did not make a bed, did not hoover. W e did not have dinner in the hotel as the are plenty of restaurants and café near by. Hissar is a very small and nice town, there are a lot of park and mineral springs there and it is very pleasant to go walkabout. In general I can recommend this hotel for adult people and family with children.

Pros: The hotel is clean, the room was too. The food was very good. The personnel is good enough (3.75/5) for the service level in Bulgaria. There is plenty of inside and outside activities.
Cons: The sink was cheap and clogged. The bathroom door was cheap and broken. The tap of the tube was not working. Other things also very cheap. The outside pools are not warm enough.

Upon arriving at the sleepy town of Hissarya one could be forgiven for not expecting much out of the accommodation. However this hotel complex is a fantastically modern and comprehensive base from which to enjoy the town and environs. It boasts a brand new bowling alley, swimming pool, restaurants, shops and plenty of other facilities. Also most of the hotel is covered with a strong wifi connection.

The amount of English spoken by the staff is hit and miss but enough to get by. Reception staff will begrudgingly understand you at least and some will understand completely. Friendlyness among the staff is also hit and miss but mostly positive.

As soon as we arrived at the hotel at 4pm we were told that the rooms were not ready even though accommodation was announced after 3pm. At the reception we were told to leave our luggage in the article and use the spa, but alas, after requesting a bathrobe from the super unkind maid, the answer was "I'm gone", put up and I asked for at least a big towel, again, "I'm gone". I asked the hotel manager at the reception and again there was a negative answer! The rooms are very cushioned and not well cleaned! At the reception they are terribly slow and disorganized, we waited 20 minutes in a queue to find out that our room was not ready! I would never repeat!

Overrated hotel! Would never recommend it! It is extremely dark inside the rooms, as well as the restaurant and the stairs as well! For a 3 day stay we have witnessed accidents with two people / falling/ on dark, unlighted stairs. One of the stairs in the restaurant/ the only way to the toilets/ and the other on the way to the spa center. The outside /the only one available/ parking is so dark in the evening, that it takes time to recognize and find your car.
The food does not meet the standards at all. The service, especially on New Years Eve, was very poor, even rude sometimes. The waitress was chewing food, while serving and rudely pushing people in order to make her way to the table!
No vegan and gluten-free options included in the menu.
For a 3 day stay, no one ever entered the room for cleaning! We could easily hear all the noise and conversations from the other rooms!
Do not wear high heels in this hotel, unless you want to end up with a broken ankle, because the flooring is mostly made of river rocks. When you pay 750€ for a 3 day stay, you’ve got quite different expectations!

This is a wonderful place where you will find all the amenities.

Spa facilities and mineral water baths are first rate.

Two nice restaurants with great food.

My laundry was perfectly done the same day.

If you are visiting Hissar, here is where you want to stay...there are cheaper places, but why spoil your trip.

We rented an apartment- very cheap furnishings. Based on the price I was expecting a lot more. This hotel is a reminder of the Communist times- old, outdated, badly maintained, limited options of everything, no AC. Sleeping accommodations were limited. The decoration was scarce and very pitiful. They couldn't afford enough furniture and placed some pitifully looking plants haphazardly in the elevator lobby. People were nice but that was the extent of the positive aspects. Food was awful and limited. I had to call the manager to discuss the limited menu at dinner time. I have two kids and the only option I can offer them was cold pasta. They kept the restaurant halfway lit cause they did not want to service half of it. We should have gone for food elsewhere. The kids pool closed due to maintenance on one of the days we were there (high season mid-August). The next day they filled it up with cold water and we could not use it again. There are no pool towels!!! The food by the pool is also awful and if you order fries and want ketchup, the packets are charged additionally per ketchup package. It was a mistake taking my family there. Bulgaria is a great country and there are many good options to travel and visit but this was not one of them.

We have been at a studio for 105 EUR per night, which should be quite an expensive one for local standards. Room looks very cheap, with cheapest possible furniture. Strong hygiene and maintenance issues, such as dust on furniture, bad smell across the room, mold in bathroom, bathroom need repairs, air conditioner is full of dust and webs (may be have not been cleaned for more than a year). For this price much better choices are available. No safe in room.

We stayed here for Valentine's Day in deluxe room.

Room was perfect, clean and warm, sleep quality was OK, a pillow was a bit uncomfortable. Breakfast was great with variety of foods.

Great spa and wellness center with hot tub outside in winter. if you prefer quiet place avoid the weekends.

Stayed here for one night in what was supposed to be the deluxe quarters. Walls dirty and room not serviced properly, standard lamp bulb blown so they obviously don't check between bookings.
Supposed to be Wi-Fi in room but signal so weak could not be used.In fact worst Wi-Fi i have experienced in Bulgaria. Found out later that the room price should have included access to deluxe spa area but never got to sample as staff did not say what was included. In fact staff in this place are generally sullen and you cannot help but get the impression they would rather not have guests. This place is overpriced by Bulgarian standards with pretty awful service. They also don't seem to understand the difference between AM and PM. Sauna by swimming pool stated opening hours of 11pm to 8pm giving the impression they close between 8pm and 11pm for maintenance so i went to use at 7 30 am the following morning only to find it closed. Turned out it opens at 11am!!! But then nothing opens early here. Frankly i would never stay here again. Also how did they get 4 stars?? from a retired generals uniform??? as its nothing to do with internationally recognised hotel standards???
