Absolutely fabulous. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. . The food was exceptional - the duck in particular was delicious. Had a great couple of walks. Highly recommend for a peaceful break away from it all. Absolute bliss!

Great location and wonderful evening meal. Initial reaction found the bar area bleak and cold But once the gas fire was alight and more people in the space the ambience changed and was warmer Menu was good and quality of food superb. Staff. Really helpful.

We stayed at this establishment recently for a few nights. Our room was plenty big enough and had a sitting room with settee and another TV (TV also in bedroom) which was handy. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We eat there at lunchtimes and in the evening and the food was very good although at every meal, including...

I am sorry to learn there were items not available to you at meal times. We are currently just in the process of changing our menu, so have been phasing out items accordingly. I am however thrilled you had such an enjoyable stay and hope to be welcoming you back soon to try out the new menu!

For a three star hotel, and for the price we paid (a travelzoo promotion), this was a really excellent stay. We stayed for three nights and would definitely recommend it. Evening meals were of high quality and good choice, though not cheap. Breakfasts were also of high quality. We especially enjoyed the homemade granola and the full-Devon cooked breakfast. The...

Thank you for taking the time to post such a detailed report. It is great you enjoyed yourselves so and all in all thought we were great value for money. Our food prices we believe to be fair and our menu offers great variety including large portions of pub classics running along side some more fine dining options that further...

We went on a two night break. Didn't know the area so it was a bit 'pot luck'. We were not disappointed. The room was very clean and spacious. The food was excellent. The service was attentive and helpful. The location was excellent (500 yards from Eggesford train station on the Tarka line). Like one of the other reviewers I...

It's great to find your 'pot luck' works out, and I am delighted to learn you will be back. With regards to your comments about dogs in the dining areas, as previously stated in response, we do have two halves of the dining area, one is for dogs and one is not. We have further emphasised this to the staff...

With had a room which overlooked the lovely garden. The room was nice but the carpet needs a clean. It had a lot of marks on it. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. We ate in the dining room on both nights. Food very good. We knew it was a dog friendly hotel but were very surprised on the...

Thank you for your review, it's great to see you you enjoyed yourselves. As a dog friendly hotel, we have a few rules for dog owners, some rooms are specifically dog friendly, and others aren't, and we have an area in the bar for guests who wish to dine with their dogs with them (under the tables etc.) for lunch...

From making the booking to checking in, eating and drinking right through to checking out the whole experience was customer focused and made personal. May I change the fried egg to poached? Of course you can, more coffee - another cafetière brought to the table. Dinner menu not huge but a good range and well cooked and presented. Steak was...

We had our company post Christmas do here in January, it was brilliant because the location, ambience, staff and place made it so. The food was served with great care and attention to detail. The staff checked we were happy with our meals, all 16 were. The rooms were very large, well proportioned and equipped and gave great value for...
