Hotel's Favorite
I attended this resort for a conference and I was extremely impressed.
Highlights:
- The food provided for the conference was incredible, breakfast lunch and dinner.
- The room was really nice and well taken care of every day by housekeeping.
- The pool area was never crowded and was a great place to relax.
- Gym had everything I needed for a good workout
- They were really helpful for me as a first time gambler figure out the machines and had some house money to start with.
My ONLY complaint was the entrance is very confusing to find the hotel check in. You walk right into the casino from the front doors and it’s confusing.
Tips:
- Don’t go into the main entrance, go further east to walk into the hotel.
- I went for a run along the wash on the east side and up around the golf course, there are some really great views up there.
- It wasn’t clear on the website, but the gym is available to every guest regardless of having a spa package or not.
- Ahnala restaurant was my favorite outside of conference meals, they have some great prices/specials especially if you have a casino card.

Anniversary weekend is always spent at a resort. We have went to various ones throughout the valley. Our stay here has been one of the best even despite the crazy mess of covid. From arriving to the resort, we had a very nice lady give us a ride to the front desk. She then changed our her golf cart to accommodate our massive load of stuff. She helped load the items and drove us back to the hotel and even helped take our stuff to our rooms. Thank-you to whoever this was! The rooms were spacious, clean, and inviting. We had a nice dinner at Ahnala restaurant. The pool is open until 11pm. Very large pool with 2 different sides.... one for adults and one for kids. 2 hot tubs; putting green and bags set by the pool. They had a pool bar with cheap beer; a DJ on Saturday nights; optional room service by the pool. The amazing staff made our stay pleasant. I must give props to Victor-- he is one of the pool attendants. He was very nice and maintained the pool throughout his entire shift. One of the hardest workers I have seen! He deserves a raise!
The casino is within walking distance with multiple restaurants inside. Definitely a relaxing weekend! My biggest take away from all the horrible reviews that people have gave..... you make your weekend what you want. So if you are a Karen, please stay home! There is 100 people staying there with limited staff, so patience until they can help you is key. There are children there and drunk people, so it will be loud, and the pool music does play until 11, so get over it! They also play a movie by the pool on Saturday nights.
Anyways, thanks for a great visit and accommodating us! Victor is the best and the lady that works the parking lot!

We booked a couple nights here as a golf package. While we were a little disappointed at the cleanliness of our room we decided to stay anyways due to needing some time away from the rat race and were looking forward to the golfing. You would think that during this time especially that their attention to cleanliness in guest rooms would be more sanitary. There was no housekeeping which I’m assuming was because of virus issues but we understood that. We weren’t told there was no housekeeping when we checked in. We were only told there were no ice buckets.
Both of our golfing experiences were awesome and we highly recommend the golfing courses, We-ko-Pah and Eagle Mountain. They are beautiful and professionally managed; however when we had the hotel book our tee times they were both on the same day, impossible to golf at two places at once. One of our tee times we were lucky to re-book as they are very busy.
Our evening meal downstairs was good and our waitress was wonderful. The next morning we ordered room service and had to go pick it up due to health department regulations but no big deal, however; the girl that took our ordered was rude and unhelpful. They had nothing that was on their menu and she was put out by telling us what was available. Hung up on us once and we had to call back.
We checked out and when we arrived home and unpacked I realized I had left an expensive hair dryer in our bathroom. I immediately called them and a woman spoke to housekeeping and they said they had it. I was told I had to fill out a lost and found report on a website and pay for it to be returned. Completely understandable. However, after filling out the lost and found, I had to call twice to get it returned. I had to pay 19.75, so I paid it. Having received my package at the post office there was another 24.00 postage due. They had shipped it in a overnight package. I called “Elizabeth” who supposedly handles returns and let her know of the wrong box that was sent resulting in my extra money spent to get my item. She said she was going to speak to her “manager” and get some of my money refunded. I’ve called her twice and no return calls, obviously won’t be getting any reply or any money back. I have my item and Thank you for returning it but your lack of attention to this matter just lost our business and respect. Combined with the rudeness of some of your staff in the lobby (not the check in staff, they were great), but the girls who sit down there doing who knows what.
We won’t return.

The sad part is my wife and I stayed here 11 months ago and had an excellent stay. This time could not have been more different. While I understand that construction on the new casino is necessary, surely beginning at 6am on a Saturday morning is completely unreasonable. When we complained asking for a discount, after two phone calls the supervisor was willing to comp my wife's pre-arranged spa massage. While we appreciated the gesture, this was inadequate given the disruption. On top of this, my wife had phoned ahead two weeks previous to arrange a late checkout and was told to arrange it when we checked in. When we checked in, she was told to phone the day of checkout. When she phoned the day of checkout, she was told the 12pm checkout promised in the first call wasn't possible, even though she had a spa appointment at 11am. Only after our larger complaint about the construction noise, which required two call backs, were they willing to be more accommodating. Dinner at the restaurant was okay, but the staff was overwhelmed - and the dining experience was saved only by our dedicated server and the restaurant manager who was going above and beyond to try to keep people happy. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

I've been staying here for over 10+ years when we do a road trip over Thanksgiving and Wekopa is our last stop from a long but fun 10 day trip.
The hotel is a pretty basic set-up with the room in dire need of an upgrade.
The 1990's are calling and want their polyster throw that is on the bed back.
Chipped bathroom doors, stains on carpet, walls and the windows are dirty with soot.
The management is so tightly wound of never ever offering any comps, waive resort fee's of any kind, even when they major fail on some many issues.
They have no concept on 'Customer Service'.
The nickel and diming of this resort is disgusting, so please, go elsewhere!
There are SO many wonderful resorts in the Scottsdale area that care about you, the guest.
The old adage of 'Don't bite the hand that feeds you' applies 100% to this money grubbing 3* motel.
Tried to order an iced coffee an coffee and told by the staff at Ahnala that isn't allowed.
Ice machine was out for about a week and had to schlep down to the third floor.
Tried to order room service and the phone systems were out for about an hour.
Couldn't order from my cell or hotel phone.
When asked for a discount on my bill, they turned it around that it was MY fault.
Go to other Casino's like Talking Stick or Gila River.
FYI...only play the tables..the slot machines are so tight and there is literally no one at the cashier booth giving $$ away from the supposed winnings.
They are taking all your money and treating you like crap to boot!

This resort is clean and nicely updated. We only stayed one night, but noticed that they had some special spa treatments offered that we didn't have time to take advantage of. Although our room was on the first floor, we were not bothered by noise from the casino. All restaurants were open and we opted for the WKP Sports Bar, which was pretty much as expected (pub fare). Overall, I highly recommend.

I have been in many casinos in my life time, Vegas, Laughlin, etc. the We-Ko_Pa experience is way above any where else I have ever stayed for many reasons. First and foremost it is a non-smoking casino and Hotel, which in itself makes it a very important plus for gambling and staying there. All employees, casino personal, dealers, bar servers, restaurant workers, all are exceptional, I have fun, everyone is so kind, and engaging. There are a huge variety of games, tables, slot machines, and the craps machine is the best, being able to throw the dice, and not have to worry about where your money is placed, what to bet, it makes so easy and user friendly. The food is exceptional, and the perks are very much appreciated and we utilize these for discounted and free rooms and food discounts. I will always stay and gamble here, I have no desire to go anywhere else, very highly recommend.

We were visiting to celebrate our 10-year anniversary (we had our rehearsal dinner here in April 2021). Overall, our stay was great. They graciously upgraded us to a suite, which was lovely, though the wifi was not superb. The casino was recently totally overhauled (we got totally turned around trying to find our way after 10 years!), and the rooms could be spruced up just a touch.
The outside pool bar was closed, but you could easily order drinks and food to the pool via a phone. The pool was slightly heated, I think, but the temperature was PERFECT. My husband and I enjoyed some hands of blackjack in the casino.
We had happy hour at Ember, but didn’t find the prices to be that great, and then dinner at Ahnala, which was just OK.
The resort isn’t conveniently located to pretty much anything other than some golfing in Fountain Hills, but it has sentimental value to us, so we would stay here again

Excellent service. Cynthia, the golf trip coordinator, provided excellent customer service before, during and after the trip. Arman, the shuttle driver, was beyond helpful and is highly recommended. Resort and golf courses were excellent. Only slight downfall was the prices of food and beverages. $36 for 6 domestic beers at the golf course is very high and food prices throughout the resort are higher than average, especially since there is nowhere else in the immediate area to dine. That being said we do plan on returning due to the excellent customer service!
