WELCOME We are the staff of “The Old House” of the Boutique Hotel Hacienda Ucazanaztacua; wish you a warm welcome. We; Julio, Rafa, Chayo and Bertha; are from the beautiful fishing village called Ukasanastakua, located on the shore of lake Patzcuaro, and are proud to be indigenous Purepechas.Ucazanaztacua is located 10 minutes from the village of Tzintzuntzan, the center of purepecha culture for centuries, and five minutes from Ihuatzio. In this area one can encounter archeological sites, churches and convents, whose architecture dates back to the 16th, century. In front of the hacienda is the island of Pacanda, inhabited by purepecha families. The hacienda is located in the heart of purepecha culture where you can hear Pirekuas (traditional music); and taste the prehispanic cuisine and see the beautiful hand crafts.Patzcuaro; a beautiful colonial city with churches, museums, and 16th century architecture; is a scenic 20 minutes drive.

We returned to Hacienda Ucazanaztacua because it is fantastic. The rooms are excellent, many with great views of Lake Patzcuaro. The food is outstanding and the breakfast (included) is sumptuous. Exceptional, pool, breathtaking views, friendly, helpful staff and an owner committed to the well-being of local people and environment. What are you waiting for, it doesn't get better than Hacienda Ucazanaztacua.

Magical Gem From the moment we arrived we were impressed by Julio and the rest of the staff. They could not have been more accommodating, courteous, or well trained. Our room presented a spectacular view of Lake Patzcuaro which reminded us of looking out at Bellagio at Lake Como in Italy. Breakfast was included in the room and it was available usually between 9 and 11:30 a.m. Room service was available where we had fresh made guacamole, the house brand of Mescal, and luxuriated with a brilliant sunset. Rafael the owner was knowledgeable and enchanting and the wealth of knowledge regarding the local social and political structure of Michoacán. He also discussed great options for day trips and guided tours. The most magical part of our stay was the beautiful grounds which are impeccably maintained and environmentally sustainable. When we return to Patzcuaro the Hacienda Icazanaztacua is a permanent must on her list.

Everything seems homey but professional, every part of this place has details like candles on the table, fireplaces, or a private transportation to a small island on the lake. The staff is very attentive and the breakfast is to die for!

What a great find in the State of Michoacán! Very upscale hacienda in the middle of nowhere! Wondered why it was so pricey for Mexico standards $200 usd per night but worth every penny. Delicious breakfast included! It’s a very special place and definitely recommend it.
