What a hidden gem! We have been to Koh Mak before and this is the best hotel we have been staying on. We stayed on the hotel on the other side of the street but it was terrible so we changed to Islanda and I wished we had boked Islanda in the first place. It’s clean, no insects in the room, very good food, the staff is amazing, the breakfast is really good and the view - the best view in Koh Mak!! The hotel looks newly renovated now after covid and I really hope they keep this standard! We had the room with pool view and then we upgraded to the room with both pool view and sea view which both was amazing. The location is also great, really close to everything but still very calm (no dogs etc). We are going home tomorrow but if we go back to Koh Mak this is definitely the hotel we will stay on!

We had a really nice time during our stay at Islanda Hotel. The pool was the best part, such an amazing view from the pool! The staff were very friendly and helpful when we had questions about places to go on the island. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Koh Mak.

A really nice place, a 3 star hotel but better than that in many ways. For example the staff - and particularly Noi in the reception - were outstanding! Noi helped us with renting motorbikes (an old charming Honda Prestige!), arranging boat tickets, she gave us tips on good restaurants etc. Always with a big smile on her face, she was the cutest you can imagine. The hotel was clean, quiet and we had a stunning ocean view from our balcony, really nice. Ok, the breakfast was small, but still...it is not the Hilton and it still was fresh and you can also order bacon and egg. The lunch and dinner menu was smaller but also fine. The pool was taken care of every day, they have an infinity pool and you have the best of views from there... One day the lock did not work to our room, and Noi came to our help immediately. “Don’t worry! I will stay here outside your door until the janitor fixes the lock!”. We went outside to our motorbikes and before leaving Noi came running. - It has been mended, everything is ok again, have a nice day! Noi was smiling from the minute we entered the hotel and until standing outside waving goodbye when we left 4 days later. We will never forget her!

Resort is on top of a hill so no direct beach access. Closest beach is cococape beach which is beautiful and if you just go around the corner you will have a lonely beach with beautiful dark rocks stuck in the white sand. Another great beach is close to seavana and koh mak resort about 15 min walking. Motorbike rental is 250 baht per day and gas ablut 40 baht per liter. Massages are 350 baht per hour. It was the best massage I had in all of Thailand. Kayak rental can be done at cococape or koh mak resort. Hotel has a pick up service for free when you arrive at the pier. There are many live concerts at various locations on the island as well as fireshows and night markets. The resort itself is very clean, quiet, AC works fine and shower has hot water. Pool is cleaned everyday and breakfast was very good. Staff is super friendly. I paid about 90 USD per night which is a high price for koh mak, but compared to other resorts it is very high standard resort. Never had problems with sandflies (I stayed for 8 days) but I do recommend to take mosquito spray.

This is not a hotel.. it’s more like a hostel but you pay hotel prices to stay there. We picked this place as most of the reviews on here were positive.. I’m amazed with the positive reviews as I’m wondering where the people who wrote them must’ve stayed before to find this place amazing?! This place is shockingly run down and in great need of care! The rooms are dark. When we arrived we were given a room with ants and spiders in it.. ants on the floor, on walls and in the bed!! We complained and were given a new room which only had ants on the floor. Bathroom was ok! The breakfast was terrible. Instant coffee, no real juice. A decent breakfast is not too much to ask for when paying the money you do to stay there. The first two days the pool was really dirty (brown/ yellow water)but it seemed they cleaned it as then all of a sudden one day it both looked and seemed cleaner... they should however clean it daily! Many reviewers has written that it’s clean(?).. it’s not! It’s dirty!!? The rooms are cleaned every day but it’s only on the surface. There are signs EVERYWHERE saying what you’re not allowed to do.. it’s strange and as a guest you are constantly tip toeing to “stay out of trouble”. We talked to other guests during our stay and all of us felt weirded out about the place.. one couple told us how the manager had stopped them and showed them a photo taken in their room of a towel laying on the floor. They’d hung the towel up but it had fallen down and they were being told off like children for it being on the floor (!!!).. that’s not ok! The only reason it gets a two star rating from me is due to the staff being sweet and that we thought the location was perfect! It’s not by a beach but you can head in three different directions and access amazing places within minutes! Would we stay again? Absolutely not! Has it got potential? Oh yes!! This place could be amazing if it had the right owners!!

I stayed 4 nights on the beautiful island of Koh Mak. But I choose with the Islanda the wrong place. Why? Location: 10 walking minutes away from the sea. Room: old furniture, full of stickers what not to do, smelly bathroom with no ventilation. Breakfast: quite poor, no yoghurt, no real fruit juice. There are at least 6 better hotels on the tiny island!!! At least the staff was friendly.

Nice hotel and nice staff. Due to the location on the porch facing the pool and restaurant, it does not get that private. The infinity pool is super but sorry there is no refreshment serving in the pool bar. Breakfast is good.

This is a very tidy and clean facility. The view is probably the best on Koh Mak, with the small island Koh Kham in front of you. The infinity pool creates a wonderfull effect and is popular for taking pictures. Breakfast is average. Rooms are very good with the best bed so far in Thailand. And the safe in our room actually functioning! Restaurant is almost always empty. It has huge potential, especially with the view. No music, no cozy light. Close at 8.pm. So we had our dinner elsewhere. Staff is friendly and easy to chat with. This is a good place if you like to have a couple of days with better standard.
