The hotel room was clean, spacious and cleaned on a daily basis. The food was okay, well… I’m vegetarian and they didn’t have much options for me, they served salad but I suppose there’s only so much salad you can eat before getting bored of it. The over 18s area is fantastic! Amazing views, a sun trap and so peaceful! The infinity pool area was also fantastic, the only issue people start queuing up around 45 minutes before it opens to get a sun bed! The staff are helpful and always trying to resolve any issues. This hotel is great if you want a break away from normality, there’s no night clubs or night life within walking distance so you’ll need to get a taxi.
Overall the experience is adequate, but I think it depends what you’re looking for. If you’re looking to see the charm of the island this isn’t the place, however if you’re simply looking to sit by the pool then it’ll do nicely. The food is decent and there’s enough variation to keep things interesting, the bars have a respectable selection of drinks that are included in all inclusive (though there are also a few that are not) and you can even ask them to mix a combination of your own devising. There’s an adults only section a two minute walk away with some infinity pools and self service soft drinks and one type of beer and a rock pool with fish in it too which is quite pleasant. If you’re a non smoker, I don’t think there’s any place outside which is safe from smokers. Nowhere is safe, not even the one tiny no smoking section crammed right at the back of the poolside and the hotel facilities this with a cigarette machine in the lobby. Everywhere also needs renovating, the rooms look nothing like the pictures you see and the floor seems permanently dusty. Our bathroom had some mismatched tiles and the wiring has room for improvement (the hairdryer is wired in behind the socket, leaving a gap and the light switch took a solid 5 seconds of flickering before coming to life) and the balcony floor is faded and the railings are getting worse for ware. The rooms are fitted with good air conditioning, but if you had our room it died on the second night and maintenance couldn’t get it to work despite multiple supposed fixes, so we were left with the ceiling fan. The rooms also need far better sound proofing. As an aside, all inclusive shuts at 11 PM, probably out of respect for those with rooms that are poolside and much of your drinks will come in single use plastics. Overall it has all the amenities you’d expect of an all inclusive hotel, but it needs much renovation.…
Had a last minute holiday at this hotel last week. The rooms are a little tired but the hotel is very clean and the staff are lovely. First room we had had a shower over the bath, but as I have difficulty getting into the bath we were moved to one with a walk in shower which had a great power shower. The food is plentiful and of very good quality, and a great choice including sugar free, gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian. Staff are happy to help if you are unsure what is on offer. Always pizza and pasta available in the evening and salads if you want something lighter. Soft drinks, wine and beer are freely available on draft. Carrot type cake at breakfast was amazing! Chefs will cook an omelette to order at breakfast, and there was always something cooked fresh at lunch and dinner ie chicken, lamb chops, fish. We didn't use the snack bar by the pool but food available there too, hot dogs, burgers etc Crisps available there too if you want them. The adults only pool is located across the road from the hotel as is the solarium, which consisted of 2 plunge pools and sunbeds overlooking the sea. The solarium is still under construction and had no umbrellas available whilst I was there, but I think once finished there will be. Umbrellas plentiful at the adults only infinity pool and much quieter than the main pool. Never a problem getting a sunbed. Activities on during the day if you want them. I just did the pool aerobics which was more of a gentle water yoga. There were also 2 Jacuzzis in the main pool area. Evening entertainment was varied. Something on in the show bar inside and outside by the main pool every night. Singers, flamenco dancers, magician, kareoke, the usual hotel stuff. Some better than others. The hotel is in a quiet area, great if you want a nice relaxing break. You can walk in to the little town along the promenade. Takes around 40 mins. There is a shopping centre about half way. Or get 122 bus outside the hotel. This also goes into Santa Cruz (opposite direction) which has lots of shops. Beach/pool towels available from reception for 15 euro deposit and can be changed daily. Only criticism I have is that the air conditioning could have been better particularly in the restaurant which did get a bit warm. Overall though, a pleasant, relaxing break. …
We come for a 10 day all inclusive holiday the room was falling apart refused to move us until the air con stoped working the staffs English is very poor so hard to communicate with them the food is horrible same entertainment every week I will not be coming back definitely not a 4 star hotel
Myself and my none binary child (23) stayed here for 10 night from July 15th. On arrival (which was 00:30) we felt a little intimidated, large crowds were stood outside the foyer smoking, it was very rowdy which for my first impression felt disappointing and maybe I had made a mistake choosing this hotel. Check in was quick, I had booked a premium room so the safe and air con was included, we had a partial view of the ocean on the 8th floor room 812, the view was really good, you could see the ocean and over looked the main pool and you could see the infinity pool across the road. The noise was minimal, what you would expect for a large all inclusive hotel. The room was nice, bathroom was a little dated however the shower was very good and powerful. We had a bottle of cava, water, treats, kettle with tea and coffee and a small fridge so paying for premium made it worth while. The plug sockets were few and far between and placed in areas that were difficult to reach we took an extension cable which was really helpful. The beds are comfy and made everyday but not changed, remember to clear your bed before you leave or it will not be made on your return. We didn’t spend time around the main family pool as this was very busy and loud music played most the day, we spent most of our days at the infinity pool straight across the road, over 16’s so no inflatables or music, you can hear the music from across the road but still very relaxing. We visited the solarium just around the corner, the views are stunning however only 2 hot tubs which felt a little awkward at times. Both pools have self serve soft drinks and amstel beer, tea or coffee which is great. Food was nice, a couple of days weren’t as good but over all really good for all inclusive, the snack bar is good, ice cream plenty full, we never had a problem getting sun beds, some people put towels out but we always got one around the infinity pool, we never went to the family pool so can’t comment on that. There isn’t much around in regards shops etc, we stayed local which was fine for us, you can take a bus or taxis which were plenty full. The entertainment was pretty good, like all inclusive not everything will suit all. The only negative would be the air con in the restaurant and show bar, these are non existent, you spent time getting ready to go out for the evening then sat in a restaurant that had no air con and no windows open, the show bar was the same, it was just too hot which did spoil the enjoyment for us in these areas. The staff were nice, Tui staff are always in the foyer, we payed €30 to extend the room till 18:00 which was great. All in all we had a lovely relaxing holiday, if your wanting lively night life outside the hotel this isn’t for you, there’s a bit of something for everyone within the hotel, and a nice walk to a black sand beach 10 min walk away. We would return x…
My 2nd visit. I love this place. Can’t fault the food or staff at all. The hotel prob does need updating. But spotlessly clean and comfy beds. We spent most of our time at the infinity pool, amazing, bliss. Peaceful. The solarium’s and jacuzzi’s fab too. Self serve beer and soft drinks, they’ll make any cocktails too. Activities in main pool during the day if u want them. Great nighttime entertainment in pool bar and the lounge. Disco in basement too. It is a quiet mainly residential resort but lovely walk along the sea front and an array of cafe bars/restaurant’s. Small shopping centre about a mile along the road. Bus stop just outside to most of the island. Give it a try u won’t regret it!
We stayed in this hotel for 1 week. The room was spacious with a limited view of the sea and pool from the room which we expected however the bathroom door wood was chipping away at the bottom and with the heat the door kept swelling making shutting the door difficult. When trued to speak to the hotel staff they kept telling us that they do not speak English which was unhelpful. We travelled with a toddler and the kids club was full if Spanish children in which we were later told it is a creche for the local children so our son was unable to participate and the kids club staff spoke no English. The food was basic very repetive. Our son lived off chips and pasta for the week food wasn't labelled so unsure what the food was. The hotel is in the middle of the locals homes so getting directions to places was difficult (thank goodness for maps). Everything is a distance away from the hotel. Black sand beach was nice to see however nit appropriate for children a lot of topless women. Entertainment in the hotel was not what was advertised and not promoted so unable to plan out Evenings. Overall we would not recommend this hotel especially for young families. Very average holiday for us.…
We'd been to the PDR previously so knew what to expect in terms of the area - it's a quiet, residential location with no strips of bars and clubs. If you want a lively holiday then this isn't the place for you. Similarly, I don't have young kids, but if I did, then this probably wouldn't be my choice of hotel either as although there is entertainment from the Animacion team daily, the pool area doesn't have a lot of space around it for parents to keep an eye on their kids playing in the pool. However if you're looking for great all inclusive food, various locations to chill on sun loungers and a real mix of nationalities and ages, then this hotel will fit the bill. I had emailed an enquiry through to the hotel after booking, and received a reply within a short space of time. I appreciated having the hotel reply, as not many others have done this and I've usually had to go through Tui to then ask a simple question. Pool towels are available to hire at I believe 10 euros for the duration of your stay, they can also be exchanged at Reception whenever you wish. They can be blue or grey, but they are identical other than the colour. If I had a preference for a particular towel, I would probably take one with me in my suitcase. I did pay for a Premium room, a worthwhile upgrade for me as I had requested a specific room which we'd stayed in previously. The area directly around the swimming pool did get busy, and people did reserve sun loungers there and also next to the 2 jacuzzi pools. However, when I visited in June, there was always loungers available if you didn't mind being away from the pool slightly. I didn't go into the Infinity pool area, but had a clear view of it from my room and could see that there were always spare loungers there as well. My personal favourite area was the solarium - there was construction work going on which did make it a bit noisy at times, however I liked that it wasn't busy or crowded, but I do hope whatever it is they're building won't actually change the tranquil nature of that area. There are small black sand beaches a short walk away where you can sit and listen to the waves crashing on the rocks, and if you turn right as you come out of the hotel, there are bigger (black sand) beaches which are used by locals as well as holidaymakers. Food choices at the Punta Del Ray were plentiful and varied. I'm a very picky eater, and there was always something I was happy to eat. I mostly chose my meat (choices over a week included steak, chicken, turkey and pork) from the grill, and it's the best quality meat I've had AI. There's no 'kids' food at dinner time in the restaurant, but nuggets, pizza, hot dogs and burgers were available daily in the poolside snack bar until I think 6pm. The staff at this hotel work incredibly hard, and it's worth noting that I recognise many of them from my first visit back in 2014 - for me always a good sign when a business retain staff. Some aspects of the rooms are a bit tired and dated, you'll definitely need to pack a 4-way extension lead with adapter in your case as the only socket is on the wall opposite the bed (if you're an overnight phone charger, also pack yourself a small powerbank in your luggage). Noise does travel down the corridors easily here, so there can be a bit of annoyance from doors banging and people having loud conversations outside their rooms (rarely in English) but that's down to inconsiderate guests, rather than the fault of the hotel. I've seen all sorts of changes and improvements in the 4 or 5 times I've been here in the last 8 years, and I'll definitely return again as it fits the bill for me looking for a relatively quiet, and always relaxing holiday.…
Lovely hotel with great staff, We stayed for a week but gutted we didn't stay for longer. The rooms are spacious with a big comfy bed and a nice size balcony. The food was great there was plenty to choose from and there was also a different theme every night. There are also plenty of drinks from hot and cold. The 18+ jacuzzi was my favourite, it had an amazing sea view and had a drink dispenser which i thought was really good. It was the most relaxing place i've been to.
My friend and I had a fantastic and cheap 4 day short break to this hotel via TUI. The hotel took on board our wishes prior to arrival and we gained a sea view and they provided a late tea for us. They even re opened the restaurant. The trip was an all inclusive. Serve yourself Amstel lager, red, rose and white wine and soft drinks. Food was enormous amount and seemed to be continuous throughout the day. There seemed to be plenty for everyone. Perhaps vegetarian/vegan options was limited. Really enjoyed the bus trips to Santa Cruz which you could gain from reasonably just outside of the hotel, the 122 bus cost for 2 one way €3.70, bargain. Evening entertainment was surprisingly good and the entertainment team did well to keep everyone happy. We stayed in 603 and couldn't hear the late night disco. Tui staff (Jewls) was there everyday to answer our daft questions. All in all I would have to recommend the hotel. Special thanks to Jakob.…
