Everything about this place was amazing. The location was great - close enough to town to walk when we needed to, but also remote enough that it was removed from city sounds and full of wildlife! The grounds of the property are stunning, and the restaurant/patio is idyllic. We had multiple meals at the lodge because the staff was so friendly, the food was excellent, and the views were unbeatable. The staff throughout the property were very kind and helpful. We booked a Zipline tour and also a night walk tour and both were incredible. My friends and I agreed that this was our favorite hotel during our Costa Rican tour. Enjoy!

Beautiful setting. Fabulous breakfast and wonderful service. Rooms were very comfortable. Dinner was also excellent and staff couldn’t be more helpful. Nice walking trails around the property but they are not very long. Has a small heated pool.

What an excellent hotel. Very comfortable, top notch service and a great restaurant. A very good base from which to explore the cloud forest, with very knowledgeable guides and wonderful trips with pick-ups from reception. The dinner service was superb and the kitchen produced great dishes. Would thoroughly recommend.

The service was outstanding. The hotel has been updated and is very clean. The garden and pool area are well kept and very tranquil and relaxing. Coatamundis (pizote) strolled around outside without a care. The food was excellent. Breakfast came with our room and it was perfect! Fruit, juice, toast and coffee to start, then a breakfast entree. Over our 2 day stay we had French toast, omelette and pancakes and they were all delicious. We had pizza for lunch one day and invited friends from a neighboring hotel for dinner one night. We ate near the fire place and the ambience was just what we needed. Everyone’s meal was excellent. The soaps, lotions and shampoo are all locally sourced and very high quality. My only complaint is that the hotel did not have them for sale. You cannot go wrong booking a stay here if your travels bring you to Monteverde!…

We had a great time at Monteverde Lodge & Garden – I booked the stay partly because of their environmental profile and partly because of all the buzz about their El Jardín restaurant, and the place totally lived up to our expectations: - A lovely room that opened up right out into a beautiful forest area with a little creek running outside - Nice walking paths around the place where kids can easily go exploring on their own - Amazing architecture; a lot of the place appears to have been built recently, and they have taken great care to combine aesthetically pleasing design with respect for the nature area around the place - Lovely outside relaxation areas (the pool is a bit small, so do don’t expect a huge resort-style water area here) with lots of animals (hummingbirds, coatis, porcupines etc.) - An absolutely fantastic restaurant; every single dish we had, from breakfast to dinner, was impressive so definitely choose this place if you’re a foodie! …

We had a fantastic time at Monteverde, and most of it came down to the lodge. We stayed here for 3 nights (with my wife and a 7 year old) and it was perfect to explore the Monteverde reserve and also some of the other parks around. The hotel is greatly located 4/5 minutes from the center of town, so even within walking distance. But the greatest thing was the service and the food. We had been travelling around the country for two weeks, staying at some pretty nice locations, but nowhere was the food as good as in the lodge (probably one of the best french toast i have had); certainly worth a visit just to the restaurant if you are not staying there. The service was really also amazing, everything from the concierge and reception to everyone at the restraurant, with special mention to Erick and Jessica. Great visit and great place to stay. This hotel is so lovely! The food and drinks were some of the best we had during our whole trip to Costa Rica. They have a special vegetarian/plant based menu so it was great from that perspective. The french toast and breakfast burritos were both amazing! The room decor is very modern and our room looked out into gardens. My only comment would be that noise travelled in our section of the hotel (eg could hear other guests conversations in the corridor). The staff were AMAZING. Jason on reception was super - sorted out restaurant reservations, spa bookings etc. Also the waiters we had - Kevin and Erick were great.

We had a great 2 night stay and saw more nature from our room than on a 2 hour hike in curi cancha reserve. Room was spacious and well equipped, breakfast was great and staff were incredibly friendly. It’s location is good within walking distance of Santa Elena ( although there is not much there). The pool is small but nice, the gardens are lovely to walk around (just a short distance). Recommended.

We loved this hotel! We had a balcony overlooking the cloud forest and as we were sitting there one afternoon a coatimundi climbed onto our roof! We loved the trails around the property and saw an incredible sunset from one. We loved the immaculate gardens around the property where we saw many hummingbirds. We loved the restaurant where we had one dinner and one breakfast- both delicious! We were so busy touring Monteverde during our brief stay we didn't have time to enjoy the beautiful pool so we will haver to come back and do that. Excellent service, friendly staff (they even brought in a proper twin bed- not a cot- so my son didn't have to sleep in the King with me) - just a lovely time overall.

My wife and I just spent 4 nights at this lodge. If you are visiting Monteverde, this is a MUST place to stay. It is so close to many amazing sights and activities. It is exceptional for many other reasons. The location can’t be beat, nestled in a wooded, forestry area with beautiful views. It is exceptionally clean, well-maintained and beautifully landscaped. The grounds are amazing with flora and greenery of all kinds. Various animals and birds frequently roam the grounds including our favorites, the coati, toucanets and hummingbirds. We loved the myriad of walking trails that start and end at the hotel. Our room had a nice balcony that was a wonderful spot to check out the birds and animals that ventured by. We were very pleased with our accommodations. We ate breakfast every day at El Jardin, had lunch there twice and even had dinner one night that was better than many of the finest restaurants we have dined at in the US. But what really differentiates this hotel for us (and is the key driver of our 5-star rating) is the consistent HIGH QUALITY of its staff. Every staff person we met regardless of what they did was professional, caring, friendly, service-focused and accommodating. A special THANK YOU shout-out to Jessica, Milyana, Jennifer, Ereck, Oscar, Damin, and Kevin at El Jardin (if we forgot someone, we are so sorry as at my age, memory starts to fade), the bellmen, the landscapers, the housekeeping staff and the front desk staff who all made our visit memorable.
