MONTEVERDE AREA: We chose Monteverde for part of our honeymoon as I'd heard it was beautiful, and it did not disappoint. We did the zip lines at sky trek which has the longest and highest lines in the area, and it was fantastic; we also hiked through the national park which was truly spectacular, and very different than the forests...

We spent 2 nights each at 4 different hotels throughout Costa Rica and loved them all EXCEPT this one. We had room 302 in one of the older buildings half way up the hill. It was what they call a Master Suite that has 2 king beds and a queen up in a loft. We went with our 3 kids...

We stayed in this hotel for two days in April and like it a lot. We had a nice and big room in the "300s". Yes, it's uphill, but we didn't even consider the shuttle! It's fun having a little walk in the evening, after all, you're in a mountainous area! Breakfast was OK, food in the restaurant as well...

First, this hotel has spacious, beautiful rooms and gorgeous views. Be prepared to do some climbing though, as the rooms are spaced out along the side of a mountain. The shuttle will carry you up to your room if you have the patience to wait. Don't expect a lot of luxuries in the room, such as a TV or soap....

We stayed for three pleasant days at the Haliconia. The hotel is not a five star resort but it is a comfortable, clean and enjoyable place to stay. Our room was in a wooden cabin up a steep hill. The walk between the main building and our room was quite a workout. This place would not be suitable to anybody...

Our room (No. 07) was located at the top of a very steep hill. Coming down was OK but walking up the hill was a killer! A hotel shuttle was offered but generally it was not available when needed. The hotel staff were very pleasant and our room was spacious, clean and had a good view, but the wooden floors,...

Spouse and I and 36 others on a Collette Vacations tour stayed at the Hotel Heliconia. The rooms (in the "zero" building) were incredibly large with a beautiful view. Others said their rooms in the 200 building were "dark" and small. All rooms were up on a very steep hill. Most times a shuttle was available to take you to...

I'd read some of the reviews on here before we went out to Costa Rica and approached our stay at the Heliconia with some trepidation. But really there was no need - from the welcome drink on arrival to our departure, the hotel proved to be far better than its ranking here would suggest. We stayed in one of the...

We found the staff at this hotel really helpful, you get a welcome drink on arrival and the reception staff are really knowledgable about the local attractions and tours. They are commision based to Selvatura Park I think, but they were more than happy to tell us all about any other companies we asked about too. The rooms are okay,...
