Hotel El Bosque was a perfect choice for our outdoor oriented family. We were delighted to find the hotel set out of town (still walking distance), up the road toward the cloud forest reserve. There is a small enclave with an organic food market, a bakery, an Italian restaurant (great pizza), a coffee shop and more. Very peaceful and idyllic.... More

We booked to stay at Hotel El Bosque because of it's proximity to the Monteverde cloud forest reserve. We stayed here for four nights and had such a great time. The owner, Daniel, was a real highlight for us. He was so friendly and helpful. He recommended tours and activities for us to do, and booked them for us, which... More

Me and my family stayed at El Bosque during our "Rain forest" leg of our Costa Rican vacation. Daniel was very friendly and helpful in securing tours or recommendations. The accommodations were perfect to enjoy the surroundings. Comfortable and quaint. On the property, we saw lots of monkeys & other wildlife. A win for the adults and kids! You are... More

This is a review of Hotel El Bosque and El Bosque Birdwatching Tours, which is located on hotel premises but owned separately. This hotel is located in an area of both primary and secondary forest, with tall trees that are home to monkeys and multiple species of birds. Upon walking into the front desk building, you'll be greeted by the... More

My mom and I stayed at this cabin-esque hotel for two nights and it was great for the price. Daniel was very friendly upon arrival. When I thought I lost my phone, he volunteered to call it but unfortunately I didn't remember my Costa Rican number (and fortunately it was in my backpack). He also helped us set up a... More

If you are a backpacker or a school group, this place may be for you. It is NOT for families or adults. We saw the guy who checked us in the night we arrived and never again- just notes left on the office door saying he was somewhere else, we never knew where. When we had a problem - which... More

Daniel, the owner, greeted us and pointed out white faced capuchins in the trees outside the reception and out room. Hotel has its own trail that we explored until 5:30p. Saw coati, toucan, woodpecker, and many other birds, and butterflies like the big blue ones. Saw more here than at Monteverde. Room was very large and only 100 yards from... More

My boyfriend and I decided to take a spur of the moment visit inland to hike in the Cloud Forest. Before we left I booked a night in El Bosque. It was a great choice! The young man at the front desk was very polite and informative. He helped us book a night time tour of the jungle and recommended... More

I chose this budget hotel to save some money after staying at higher end places in other parts of Costa Rica. What a lucky find! Yes, the rooms are small and simple and so is breakfast, but the location is the best part of this hotel. It's right next to Tramonti's Italian Restaurant (and if you are staying at Hotel... More

I have traveled to rainforests all over the world and this is an excellent place to stay. It was exceptionally clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the setting was spectacular! I have to chuckle at people who post pictures of bugs maybe to deter folks. It's in a rainforest after all! We loved the insects we saw and... More
