Booked the canopy room during my recent visit. I will say that the rain against the roof was really loud and made it hard to sleep at night. Wish the property would provide some sort of sound barrier to assist with this. Also there are no elevators so be prepared to walk the steps! Other than that the room was great. Very spacious, and good amenities that were made in property. HH every day was a pleasant surprise with gold mixed drinks.

We weren't guests at Belmar, but we were definitely treated like it when we showed up for SAVIA, a comprehensive guided experience up the mountain from Belmar. Certainly more expensive than your average guided hike or night tour, but I found the depth of information to be fascinating and the guided canopy experience to be both exhilarating and comfortable thanks to the mobility team. You really get to understand how the forest itself works, and that depth of information -- understanding the many levels of the canopy, how systems compete for light, etc -- was completely different from any other guided nature walk I've been on in Costa Rica. I'd say that for people seeking an animal-heavy experience that this might not be your tour. SAVIA was thoughtful, in-depth, and heavily focused on the systems and plant life around us, but it wasn't focused on racing around the trails searching for sloths. For a long time Costa Rican resident though, who's been on quite a few tours in different parts of the country, SAVIA was something eye opening, wonderful, and different.

Hello Colin! Thank you for taking the time to recommend us. We are truly happy that your time was as unique as you narrate it to be. Savia is a sanctuary for nature, biodiversity and scientific knowledge and seeks to create an experience in which our visitors can immerse in the forest and interact intimately and in a more symbiotic way with the flora and fauna; it fills us with gratitude to read you were able to experience all of this. Thank you for your words!

Staff were very nice but this hotel just misses the mark. There were lots of bugs in our room, it was really hot in the room during the day, and there wasn't complimentary tea service as we were told (I'm a tea lover, so this was disappointing for me). We were also disappointed that the yoga was so expensive ($50 for 1-2 people). Also there was SO much noise. The guests above us sounded like they were stomping around but it was probably more infrastructure. There was also construction noise. There really were not any amenities at this hotel other than the jacuzzi that you can reserve. There was a jet tub in our room but it took a really long time to fill up and wasn't hot by the time it was full. What we loved: they use natural products to clean the rooms, it is farm to table, and we were on the second floor and had an amazing view. While I would love to support hotels practicing sustainability, the lack of amenities will have us going elsewhere next time.

Dear Katie, Thank you very much for your comments and for having stayed with us. We are glad that you enjoyed our Farm to Table concept for the restaurant, the products we use, the room and the views. We are also happy that you were satisfied with our staff's service. The hotel has different amenities, like our jacuzzi, trails, gardens, our natural pond and our yoga studio which can be used at no extra cost if you don't want to have a class with an instructor. We offer private yoga classes for each social bubble due to the pandemic. Although not included, we also offer additional services to enhance the stay of our guests, such as massages, cocktail classes, yoga classes, visits to our farm, laundry services, guided nature hikes, room service and more. We greatly appreciate that you spent part of your vacation with us and please know that we will work on improving the hotel and would love to have you back at some point to change your first impression! Please enjoy the rest of Costa Rica!

From the moment our Hotel Belmar driver picked us up we knew we were in for a wonderful experience. The staff, grounds, food & tours have surpassed all expectations. Every staff member has gone out of their way to be sure we have all that we need. The food, cocktails, coffees and teas are so fresh & delicious, we look forward to our meals every day. We did a guided naturalist tour and felt spoiled by the level of knowledge and commitment to customer service Carlos displayed. We’ve run across other naturalists on our visits to other parks & we’ve been the ones pointing out things Carlos taught us to look for! Overall I can not recommend everything at Hotel Belmar highly enough.

We had a view off our balcony of the cloud forest and when it cleared you could see all the way to the coast. The shower is situated to make you feel like you're outside which was very cool. Food in the restaurant was amazing! We did read reviews and ordered accordingly with the squash soup, followed by the shrimp ceasar salad, then sea bass and finished with flan. Delicious!!!
