We stayed at the Hotel Fonda Vela in late November 2016. The property of the hotel itself is beautiful, but we couldn't get past the dank, musty smell in the room. It's high time that the bed pillows were changed. In addition, the wifi was not working, and from reading other reviews, it seems as though it has not worked...

This place was awesome! I would gladly stay here again! The grounds were beautiful, the breakfast buffet awesome, and the staff very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were big and clean and everything was comfortable. Awesome place! I was worried about this place before we got here because Trip Advisor comments were that they mysteriously closed w/o telling anyone. Happy...

Large room (2 kings & seating area). Clean. Birding trip with 12 + 2 guides. Hotel was changing hands (March 2015, review wouldn't go back to this date) so a few road bumps with breakfast buffet running out of coffee, but service was friendly. Hey, those are bird decals on the restaurant windows-of what bird, can't be sure! Feeders are...

This place was chosen for us by our tour company GoToCostaRica.com ... When they recommended, I double checked on the Internet, and the reviews and photos were good. But here's the truth, the photos were either taken a long time ago or were 'for advertising only'. In America, we call that false advertising. The staff was kind and helpful. When...

We started our CR holiday in Monteverde. We have been to CR many times and have stayed in all sorts of hotels. I wanted one close to the reserve and not close to town. This was the perfect location. We were told there was no internet because of a storm. We didnt have internet for the whole two nights we...

Currently staying here. Save your money and time by staying somewhere closer to town. This is off the beaten path; it takes 15 minutes and a cab ride that might break one of your bones to get back to the accommodation because there are no paved roads leading to the hotel. The hotel staff had a few good apples -...

My family and I were there in August of 2016. The rooms were very musty. I understand, we are in the rainforest during rainy season, so I could let that go. However, the bedding was dirty and a gross gold color that looked as though it was from 1970s. The first thing we did was eat at the restaurant. The...

Close to the Cloud Forest Park, this older hotel reminded me of going to camp as a kid, but with all the luxuries I'd ever want from a hotel. About 15 minutes away from Santa Elena, down the gravel 'Monteverde Highway' on the road to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Park, this hotel has everything we wanted to relax after time...

The room was very nice and the grounds were lovely. The pool area was just adequate. The dinner was good but expense and the breakfast was OK. The staff was very helpful. Overall the place was nice, but it was by far the most expense place we stayed in Costa Rica. We expected more for our money.
