We had the largest rooms of all, here on our two week trip. They looked over attractive gardens, we had a free safe, quite good Wi-fi, coffee making in the room and plenty of plugs for all our devices. On our arrival and throughout our stay the staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. Breakfast was provided and we had...

Since Monteverde is one of Costa Rica's principal Park attractions it is staggering just how bad the unpaved approach roads are - on travelling from Arenal to Monteverde the last 20 miles was on the worst unmade roads that I have experienced anywhere in the world - sort of roads you would just avoid. The unpaved road departing to the...

It was difficult for us to choose between 3 and 4 stars as some things about the hotel were good but others weren't. We had a two night stay after a 3 hour drive over very poor roads. The hotel looks attractive and was clean but a little old fashioned. Our room was downstairs below reception and was somewhat dark...

We spent a few nights at the Trapp lodge and I kind of expected it to be a cheesy establishment. I was happily surprised and the accommodations were surprisingly nice. The bar and restaurant were nice (if a bit pricey for what was offered) and the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful. It is within walking distance (15-20...

We so enjoyed our stay at the Trapp Family Lodge. Our room was large and comfortable with a spectacular view. It was a bit of a walk as we were in a location farther back on the property, but we didn't mind. The flowers and landscaping were beautiful. The room was very clean and well stocked with coffee and other...

Small hotel with beautiful natural wood rooms and a great staff. The hotel is very convenient to the many hiking trails in the cloud forest and is a short $10 one-way taxi ride into Santa Elene where there are some interesting shops and restaurants. The people at the hotel and in the town are wonderful and really made our trip...

This review is based on a couple of nights stay, and using the hotel simply as a "bed for the night". We were not expecting to spend a lot of time in the hotel, so our expectations were for "acceptable" standards, rather than sheer luxury. We actually saw two different sides to the hotel, as the first room we were...

The hotel is small but clean with two locations of rooms. It is ideally located within walking distance of the reserve and town. It is on the side of the hill so everything is uphill or downhill. The rooms in the new section are large and have wonderful windows. The staff were helpful and always pleasant.

We reached the lodge after a very annoying drive from la Fortuna. However the staff made it for us. Very friendly and attentive to all questions and requests. Only negative thing is the free breakfast. I prefer to pay for a decent one than having such a sub-basic breakfast. Regular menu items for lunch and dinner were delicious and worth...

The hotel, though ugly from the outside, has impressive looking rooms. However, apart from two massive chairs on the veranda, there are no chairs or table in the room so, if it is raining or cold, you have nowhere to sit but on the bed. Between the pillow and the pillowcase is a nasty waterproof pillow cover which crackles. We...
