Located on 40ish acres of their own land, this is a nice place to see lots of animals, even more than the Monteverde Cloud Forest reserve. We saw numerous different kinds of birds, troops of capuchin monkeys, agoutis, coatis, a giant metropolis of leaf-cutter ants, and even a small snake in the early morning. There is also a nice waterfall...

A location second to none. Spectacular scenery with multiple forest trails and the opportunity to do a paid night walk which leaves from the reception area. The accommodation is clean but very basic. Not the kind of place for spending alot of time in your room but with all the nearby activities, notably the butterfly centre located less than 100m...

Apart from the spiders in our room and having to clean the room before sleeping. This was a great hotel, nice big rooms, great little cafe/restaurant and brilliant views. Not to mention its own mini cloud forest, that offer night tours. The hotel is a little far from the town and steep walk back from town if you did walk...

Beautiful place with really lovely owners who care for the environment they're working within. A great place to stay when you want something quiet and out of town as it is right on the Valle Escondido Preserve (which you can hike). Buffet breakfast with cereal, omelette made for you and pancakes with fruit, delicious hot chocolates and large selection of...

We were excited about staying here and experiencing all of the nature that Costa Rica had to offer....however didn't consider that this is a TRUE eco property in that they do not use any pesticides, etc. on the property. This = a crap ton of bugs in your room. If you're not freaked out by those sorts of things, all...

We spend two nights in the Monteverde Inn / Valle Escondido Preserve. Really nice hotel on a beautiful location (best view ever!) They have a private park where you can do a hike (about 1 hour) spotting monkey's and tucans. Rooms are clean and big, included breakfast is very extended ( we visited in the low season, extemely good value...

Wifi is so slow it would be better if they just did not have it at all. Breakfast was bad, cold and they ran out if everything in the middle of it. No shampoo and soap is as big as a quarter. My room is 13x13 and we are supposed to sleep 6. The worst pillows I have come across on...

This is a great place to stay if you like wildlife. It has it's own nature reserve (44 acres) and the night walk was great. Very knowledgeable guides and the staff were delightful and very helpful. We took the gray line bus from San Jose direct to the hotel and return so no problems with transport as the roads are...

This nature preserve is a wonderful hidden gem. Quiet and serene, surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife. Rooms are clean and spacious, including bedding and towels. Hot water does get very hot (a luxury in Central America). Due to a fragile ecosystem, this preserve does not use bug repellent, so bugs should be expected. On the grounds are gorgeous hiking...

We only stayed here a night or two, but would've moved in if we could. The owner and staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The chef not only made some of the best tasting food I've ever had, but he even made me a special dessert because it was my birthday. Some kind of fresh fruit and chocolate crêpe- the...
