it was unfortunate that our stay at Cala Lodge was during a tropical storm although I suspect that it is wet and windy there a lot of the time. Our room - number 4 was not in the main building but in a block of rooms set within the grounds a short walk away. It was rather a small, basic...

Amazing! Place is nice and clean. Staff are out of this world! So friendly and helpful. If I return to Monteverde I will definitely stay here again. And there are monkeys! Close to town- about a 15-20 minute walk- and an hour walk or 10 minute taxi ride to the cloud forest.

Great Choice of hotel just a few minutes from downtown, but far enough so that you won't hear anything else than the sound of birds, Monkey, and wind. The bedroom was comfortable, the staff very pleasant, and the breakfast offers many choices with fresh fruits.

This is a great place to stay to enjoy Monteverde! The owners are extremely sweet and were eager to please everyone. There are monkeys, coati, toucan, and several other birds which are right outside and you can watch them all day! The rooms are very accommodating and they recycle everything! Need to learn from them on how to care for...

not one I was to impressed with, maybe it was just our room. We had the room directly over the entrance door/restaurant and that faced the car park and service yard. First impression grubby and the bed looked like the sheets hadn't been changed, creased up like someone had just got out and a grubby white. long deceased insects on...

It is very disappointing to read your review. We wished that you have said something about the room when you first check in. That way we would have been able to corroborate the information and make it up to you. However, it is very difficult to find a way to solve or fix something that wasn’t correct for a customer...

We simply loved our stay at the Cala Lodge---the room was comfortable, cozy and clean. The staff was so warm, helpful and attentive. The location was just perfect--we saw wonderful birds in the AM during each breakfast, and the jungle made for an awesome view each time. We definitely recommend! Top 3 things here? 1. Awesome staff & location (Carrie...

This lodge is so well loved and in the perfect setting. It is an easy walk to the downtown of Monteverde. Very clean and quiet. A cute white-faced monkey and many birds visited the balcony while we were eating a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit and eggs or continental of your choice. The warm hearts and helpful staff made it...

Cala lodge was one of our favorite hotels to stay in Costa Rica. The location is nice and quiet away from the center. You have a nice view, rooms are charming. There is a small pitoresque trail around the lodges which you can walk (~5 mins) We had a nice balcony where we could observe the many birds and now...

Don from Casa Cecilia in Santa Theresa suggested this place and it's really awesome. Wonderful views, cozy rooms, friendly staff. It's a 15 minute walk to town. Really recommended. We even saw a monkey from bed when we woke up!

The is a relatively small hotel about 2km from downtown Santa Elena. Remote enough to be peaceful and quiet, but within walking distance to the town (even with kids). We had a one bedroom suite, it had a bunk, two queen beds and a small kitchenette with stovetop, full size fridge and microwave. All in all decent size. There are...
