You reach this hotel after 2 hours on terrible roads which is not comfortable but the place is really worth seeing. Accommodation is in the middle of tropical nature, ideal for visiting Selvatura or Santa Elena national parks. You have to take appropriate clothes - T shirt with long sleeves, waterproof jacket or raincoat and good shoes. Breakfast is served... More

I loved Cala Lodge. It was like a bed and breakfast, enjoying a hot meal every morning, beginning with fruit and coffee, then having your choice of breakfasts. I can't say enough great things about this lodge. The views are incredible. I watched capuchin monkeys from our balcony one day and the birds were beautiful. It is such a peaceful... More

Stayed here first weekend of October and had an amazing time. The rooms were very spacious, the beds very comfortable and best of all was the view! From our bed we had an amazing view over the green mountains. The amount of wildlife one could spot around the lodge was abundant. During our stay, we spotted numerous birds including the... More

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights and were met with a very frustrating experience which completely colored our stay here. Cala Lodge was chosen by our travel agency. Upon arrival at reception, we were brought to a room with too few beds so we asked for a place with another bed. We were then offered a room... More

Certainly, I was expecting this review since the day we had you in our Hotel. It is amazing to see how people can say anything that they want in order to discredit a business. It is beyond believe to see people willing to do it, and this is the perfect example! However, we are thankful to have the opportunity to... More

This place is awesome. The staff is so helpful, they helped us book our excursions. The breakfast is delicious. The rooms look like you are actually in the jungle. It is also nice and clean too. It is nice and close to town. Worth a stay if you ever come to Monteverde.

If you're looking for a happening stay with a flat screen tv and resort amenities, this is not the place for you. Cala Lodge is tucked away about 20 minutes away from Santa Elena. The walk into town is doable but the walk back can be challenging thanks to the hilly terrain. The place has a cabin like feel with... More

Cala Lodge was awesome. Very clean, very eco-friendly, GREAT and very helpful staff, wonderful breakfast, and secluded. Cala Lodge was an oasis for us on our honeymoon. It was most definitely our favorite place we stayed in Costa Rica. Very affordable and the homemade marmalade at breakfast is delicious. I wish they would sell it! I would definitely return here... Friendly staff, Eva gave us all her pieces of advices for activities and even book for us the tours! She advised us for El Cafetel tour (the delicipus lodge's coffee by the way). Nice breakfast (delicious pancakes, too bad that they just come by 2 :P ) and a beautiful view from the rooms. The ecological concept is great as... More

The Cala Lodge is a great Eco-Lodge tucked in the hills above Santa Elena/Monteverde. We were greeted by super friendly staff, namely Ava who welcomed us and gave us great information about our stay. We were able to get into our room a little early, and were very happy with our room. It was a wood/lodge type of feel, with... More

Cala Lodge was a lovely place to stay at. We drove up from Nosara and arrived before noon. Although our room wasn't ready yet, we were able to leave our luggage in the administrative office and take off to grab a bite to eat. They let us check in when we got back from lunch an hour later.
