Hidden Canopy is a gem; Monteverde is a gem. Among the four areas that we explored in Costa Rica: La Fortuna, Manual Antonio, Monteverde and Papagayo, Monteverde is the most unique and authentic Costa Rican Spot. Hidden Canopy contributed significantly to our overall experience with Monteverde. We had two walking tours with their resident tour guide Koky: night and day. Both tours were interesting and educational. We saw snakes, a sloth(5 meters away), bugs, tarantula and a wide variety of birds. Koky is a bird whisperer. He would talk to different birds with different sounds. We were amazed by how many animals that we saw on his tours. A walk in the cloud forest with Koky as our tour guide was the highlight of our entire trip. We stayed in room Eden. The room itself is a true treehouse. Extremely clean and comfortable, owner Jen really thought of every little detail. It rained the most of time when we were there. We were warm, cozy and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We can’t recommend Hidden Canopy Treehouse enough for travelers who want to explore Monteverde.

Our departure was delayed by a sudden arrival of a family of coati’s into the garden whilst a toucan flew overhead… incredibly this is fairly standard action from the view from the lounge area in this nature paradise. We stayed for 3 nights in Eden. The room was flawless. Spacious, homely and unique. Our view was into the jungle - I think some rooms have views out over the jungle in case that’s a preference but we enjoyed looking out for stuff. The bathroom with long glass windows was incredible. Jen was a great host and helped us organise our stay. We did: - Sky Walk bridges - 1km up the road and really impressive / vertigo inducing - night and day walk with Koky… both were great and his knowledge and ability to hear and spot animals was incredible. A real fountain of knowledge. The walks are very easy going from a physical perspective and more focused on spotting flora and fauna. We didn’t do the Waterfall hike - we wished we had time for this but couldn’t fit an extra night in… Koky is a gem of a guide - original canopy zipline which was awesome - great dinner at Hotel Belmar Note you can’t walk to town and parking is tricky down there so we always got taxi’s with giovanny - he was incredibly reliable and responsive (and inexpensive). All the other guests were lovely too and we really enjoyed spending time with them. The breakfast was great - the set up is very communal and essentially involves eating and chatting whilst watching the hummingbirds and other animals. The most amazing start of our Costa Rican adventure. Thanks Jenn and all the team. Highly recommended!

Exceeded my high expectations! This place is amazing. We stayed in Glade but we got to see a few of the other rooms/cabins, all of which are gorgeous and unique. Hard to name the best feature: could be the super-comfortable bed, the spa shower, the delicious breakfasts, watching the hummingbirds from the dining room ... or all of the above. Jenn is a phenomenal host; warm, attentive, and extremely helpful. Definitely recommend a jungle tour with Koki, dinner at Bistro Bon Appetit and the chocolate tour with Bob at Cabure.

We stayed three nights, November 2022, in the Rising Sun treehouse chalet at this outstanding boutique hotel. Jenn and her staff are all top notch at providing impeccable service from the initial greeting and sign-in until the final check out and goodbye. Breakfast was varied and filling, tour reservations accurate and transportation provided by Giovanny always timely and reasonably priced. I highly recommend the guide services of Koky when visiting the refuge or for a nighttime tour, he is an absolute gem.

We had the absolute pleasure of honeymooning at Hidden Canopy, somewhere that we found through careful research into beautiful tree house lodgings. From the very second of our arrival we were blown away by the warmth, efficiency and attention to detail that owner Jenn has lavished upon what is clearly her passion, the Hidden Canopy. I was brought to tears by her kindness and generosity and how well she took care of us weary travellers. The rooms are just breathtaking;each one unique but with a strength of vision and attention to detail. Quite simply utter luxury. Jenn very kindly upgraded us to Eden, which is just that, but every tree house is a cut above. Everything you can possibly think of is taken care of and the breakfasts are tasty, generous and beautifully prepared in what has to be the world's most beautiful dining room. What a view!! The hotel is a perfect base for exploring Monteverde, Jenn is very well connected and knows all the best people and places. Do yourself a favour and put yourself in her very capable hands. We are back in the UK now, but I think of Hidden Canopy and its wonderful owner often. We will be back!

My wife (who will do her own review) and I stayed here for four nights, having just got married a couple of days previously in another part of Costa Rica, and gosh what a place. We were immediately met by Jen the owner who is simply the best host either of us have ever experienced, whose kindness and thoughtfulness really made her someone we'd want to keep in touch with on a personal level by the end. Her creativity knows no bounds, and her advise on what to do and see was spot on every time. When we arrived not only did she offer to upgrade us free of charge to a larger treehouse with a jacuzzi, not only did we find the most delicious tres leche honeymoon cake (baked by her own hands no less!) in our fridge along with honeymoon balloons and wine, and not only does she provide all manner of other treats as standard, but, as I arrived suffering from a stomach upset, she even put together the most touching care package for me that really fixed me right up...and that's without even getting to the room description yes. In short, my wife cried (in a good way) when we walked into where we would be staying - it really is that stunning. Spotlessly clean, immaculately designed and the jacuzzi was heaven. We made a point of making sure we kept one day free of activities so that we could just enjoy relaxing in 'Eden' where we stayed, and it was definitely the right choice of name. Cleaners were both unobtrusive and meticulous, sneaking in each day whenever we were out, with fresh towels sculpted into a differet shape each time! Breakfast each morning was both inventive and generous, and being able to enjoy it whilst staring out over the beautiful grounds and watching the hummingbirds feeding in the garden was a singular experience. We told Jen the main things we wanted to do and see, and she took care of all the arrangements so that we never had to worry, and all of the people she has overseeing the excurions really are the best of the best. Both the day and night forest hikes with the supernaturally gifted guide Koky (who seems to be able to talk 'bird' whilst spotting things the human eye shouldn't be able to see) were incredible, as was the coffee farm tour with the lovely Gabby (it is certainly not the souless commercial venture you might expect a coffee farm to be) and the bridge walks were also excellent. The resident taxi service was also great value for money and super efficient thanks to the lovely and remarkably punctual driver Giovanni. There's simply too many spectacular things about the place to fit into one review, from the forest trail at the bottom of the garden (which is well worth doing), to the views from the rooms, to the overall vision, and creativity that is so apparent in every aspect and tiny detail of everywhere you go on site. Best of all though, we really felt as if we were in genuinely kind and thoughtful hands, where nothing was too much bother. Our time there really made our honeymoon. This is a place where the owner really cares about your experience and takes pride in how she can deliver it. Go there. See it for yourself. Enjoy the pancakes. Forget all the trouble of the world for a while. Worth every penny. We will be returning.

I've stayed at hundreds of upscale hotels throughout the world. This place is, by far, the best in every measurable aspect. We were 5 adults in Rivendell. The accommodations were - without exaggeration - top of the line. The surroundings were breathtaking - waterfall fountains, trails, hummingbird gardens, etc. The hosts were warm, friendly, welcoming, and always ready to assist with all of our needs. The staff was excellent. Breakfast was amazing. Yes, I am gushing about this place - it is exceptional.

What a hidden gem! From our first phone conversation with Jennifer, I knew we were in very capable hands. Jennifer’s little hideaway was the highlight of our stay: gorgeous architecture, cozy surroundings, wildlife aplenty (birds, coatimundi, monkeys), morning & night walks with our knowledgeable guide (Koky), relaxing massages and scrumptious breakfast feasts overlooking the hummingbird garden. She also kindly secured reservations for adrenaline adventures. Absolutely incredible experience all around and our family of 7 highly recommends Hidden Canopy Treehouses. We embraced the whole experience and found it difficult to leave. Thank you, Jen and Gary. Exceeded our expectations!

If you want to see the birds, wildlife and landscapes of Costa Rica’s mountain rainforest, Hidden Canopy is the place to stay. Hidden Canopy is a boutique hotel that has six “tree houses” or rooms that are built on stilts. They are entirely safe and nestled at canopy level on a downhill slope that overlooks the hillside and in the far distance, the Pacific Ocean. In addition, the commons dining room where guests eat breakfast is built overlooking a hummingbird and water garden that is filled with a variety of beautiful hummers as well as within view of scores of birds that inhabit the forest. The owner/manager Jenn and her husband Gary are experienced birders and know both the sound and appearances of all native birds. After a day’s touring of Monte Verde (or other nearby reserves), stop by the commons room for a chat with Jenn, and it will turn into a wondrous set of viewing experiences of numerous bird species. In addition, Jenn has access to knowledgeable guides who will pick-up/drop off at the hotel, and take you on amazing customized walks. We went on one with another family staying at Hidden Canopy, and wanted to see a sloth -- something we did first thing on the tour! In addition, the rooms are well equipped, luxurious, and have amazing views due to the octagonal shape and walls of window. Plan on staying more than two nights, as one full day is not enough to soak-up the Monte Verde cloud forest experience.
