The accomodation is in beautiful garden, the staff is helpful, all inclusive does not match - no ice cream, dessert only for dinnet, no prosciuto, for breakfast 2 types of salami and 1 type of cheese (still the same). No shops nearby. The station in Zambrone is about 2 km away, uphill. In the heat og 35 degrees we graduated to Tropea only 1 time. The train leaves in the morning at 7 o' clock and the next at 12 o 'clock. The breakfast is only untill9:00 a.m.
We booked with Tui & on arrival at the airport, the rep advised that our chosen hotel was closed & that Borgo was our destination. This was not the best start but on arrival the surroundings were very lovely. On checking in, it became clear that Borgo is intended for German clients - all of the information in reception is in German. The very blunt receptionist gave us very little information about the hotel so we expected to find this in our room - but no, we returned to ask a series of questions that you would expect were reasonable. Q. What times are meals served? A. The information is on the notice board. Q. But it’s in German Receptionist rolls her eyes and tells us the meal times. Q. What time is the entertainment? A. The entertainment arrives later. Q. What time does it take place? A. We don’t know. Q. Is there entertainment this evening? A. No, tonight is Champions League. After visiting the pool we realised there were no towels so I visited reception again Q. How do we get pool towels please? A. You pay 20 euros for each towel. Q. Can I change them each day? A. No, only once per week. Q. Why didn’t you mention the pool towels when I checked in? A. You did not ask. The restaurant staff were lovely and welcoming and helpful however the reception staff - 2 ladies particularly - were unhelpful and seemed to resent our presence. We used the Tui app to explain how disappointed we were to arrive without any prior warning that our chosen hotel was closed. 48 hours later were offered a move to Tui Magic Life resort just up the road. When we tried to check out a female receptionist was again obstructive, insisting we explain why we wanted to leave. On arrival at Tui Magic Life, we instantly loved it and we were able to forget about Borgo and I would recommend anyone else wishing to stay there to do the same.…
We loved the vacation! Beach was near our hotels, and we really like them. Very clear! The food was SPEACIAL and PERFECT! Activities and sports were BEST and we love it! Animators were very sympatic and friendly so we found new friends :)) Everything was very very good and i hope you’ll go there! :)
We were there with partner and son for 3 days and it was just perfect. Actually, it is perfect, because after 4 years the Borgo is still the perfect place to relax, meet people, bath like in the caribbean, feel the good vibes, eat nice mediterranean varieties, and above all, enjoy the personnel kindness for every need. In conclusion, holidays has a special taste when am there, absolutely recommended!
First thing to say is that the hotel staff are the best/friendly/hard working and in particular we thought Savatore in the restuaurant was exelent. The good is The gardens, the rooms, the pool, the beach, the staff The bad is The same cooked breakfast for the whole 7 days The general quailty of food The lack of food choice ie no white bread and very poor bread which nobody eats Terrible machine coffee which is an insult in italy Overall the hotel is its pretty good but lit is let down by food choices which is in italy is a suprise (the food seems to be 3 star and the rest of the hotel 4 star) If they could get the food right i would be back here 3 times,
I will not be very original in my review as i will repeat the same as those who have already written poor reviews of this place. The rooms were quite clean , the beach was quite nice the pool as well and the garden around very well maintained. However what has totally ruined the overall good impression of this place was the food. So bland and tasteless, menu so repetitive and with practically no choice that after two days me and my family were completely disgusted and didn't want to go there and eat. Once we even decided to go to the nearby railway station and get fantastic pizza instead. Was way better than anything you could get at Borgo del Principe restaurant. I am afraid to say that this one reason is good enough to dissuade people from going there. It is considered to be a 4-star hotel but this canteen completely slashes the reputation and it should actually downgrade the hotel.…
Borgo del Principe is a great place to have a vacation. It offers beautiful garden through its territory and a private beach, friendly and helpful staff, various activities throughout the day or just an opportunity to stay relaxed. Located at Marina di Zambrone, this is a perfect location to explore Calabria region.
Once again we return to the BV Borgo Del Principe. This is our third time, and everything is as it was. Consistency is the key to success in the service industry and the Borgo Del Principe hits the spot every time. Its so nice to be welcomed by the same team that made our last two holidays here effortless. Mauro & Fabiola, the wonderful cleaning ladies, the magical gardener who maintains & keeps the place looking immaculate. The restaurant staff,Giuseppe, Carmen, led by Tomas, who work so hard, and of course Fabio the lifeguard, who takes care of everything beach/pool side. The hotel is only a 40 minute drive from Lamezia Terme Airport - when hiring a car make sure you check for damage, scratches etc, we went through Avis (via a comparison website) and even though they gave me a great upgrade the vehicle was scratched on every panel. I went back in and said I want it all marked down and they did this no problem. You could get the train to Zambrone from Lamezia but the train station isn't next to the airport, its a cab or bus ride, and at the other end to get from Zambrone to the hotel its a 10 minute walk downhill. This time of year (just after the high season, so no animation) the hotel has a lot of tours. Two ways to look at this, they are only in the hotel from 5pm to 6.30am as they are out on the coach seeing the sights of the region, so basically dinner time where they do swarm around the food and then by 9pm they are back in their rooms! For a few days we ate inside, but in the end we asked Tomas to move us to the gazebo outside as it was quieter. As previously mentioned all the restaurant staff are lovely. Food wise, its the same formula as previous years, buffet style with more than enough choices. Breakfast you have a choice of cereals, fruit, bread, sweet pastries, cakes, bacon, scrambled/boiled eggs, hams/salami's, yoghurts. Juice is concentrate from a machine, and coffee the same although Tomas, or one of his staff (Giuseppe or Carmen) will make you fresh. Lunch for me is the nicest meal. The restaurant isn't that busy, the anti pasta is as always great, aubergines, courgettes, peppers, onions, all feature in many forms, a choice of three hot and two pasta, so you are never ever hungry (unless you're looking for burgers, pizzas, chips.) some people complain about the food but in all honesty, I've been to 3*Michelin restaurants and there is nothing wrong with the food at the BV (or the wine, its a local produced by CIRO, and extremely drinkable, they keep this stuff well away from export because it really is so nice and easy to drink!) Dessert is a choice of a couple of freshly made gateaux's or fresh fruit. Rooms are spotlessly clean, bathrooms are the same as previously mentioned. The cleaning ladies do a magnificent job and always with a smile and a 'buon giorno' Beach is great, the sea crystal clear, yes there are pebbles so without beach shoes its painful but you soon master it and by the end you aren't even bothering with your shoes. The view and vast openness is amazing. On a good day Stomboli just sits there smouldering in plain view. Fabio watches over the area and ensures that you don't get pestered too much by the massage girls or jewellery sellers. Towels you get from reception for a 10 euro deposit, changeable when necessary or bring your own. At the time of year we go, the Borgo del Principe is just wonderful to relax (and we have a 3yr old boy). You can really recharge here and that's just one of the reasons why we come back. We look forward to going a 4th time !…
We were a big family 4 adults and 3 small children. Services very good, cleaning, restaurant, reception, beach. Sunny weather, beautiful sea. For all activities of our children for ever crying, skipping, running very nice holiday. To timing of beginning of breakfast, lunch and diner is necessary to ad 15 minutes. We had red bracelet all iclusive, but sunshades and deck-chairs we had to book every early morning. Green bracelet was not offered to us.
We were in Borgo del Principe for the second time and we were fully satisfied again. The garden is still beautiful, well maintained and full of flowers and trees, the sea is clear, sometimes with waves. Rooms are large enough and clean, tidying and changing towels is every day. The meals in restaurant are very tasty, for lunch and dinner you can choose from pasta, fish, meat and a lot of different vegetables. On Fridays is the evening of Calabrian's cuisine with Tartufo like a dessert. The pool and the beach are clean, sun chairs and umbrellas are sufficient and the beach towels was free (with red bracelet). For sport fun there are available minigolf, pingpong, table football, green volley. The sunset over the sea is magical, you can watch it again and again :-). Everything in resort is near and on hand, it's more personal, all staff is very nice, smiling and helpful, so you feel like with family and friends. And people are what makes this resort special and remarkable. They are the heart and soul of this beautiful place. Grazie for great holiday - Mauro, Fabiola, Alessia, Veronica from reception, Tommaso, Elisabetta, Betta, Lucia, Nino, Remo from the restaurant and bar, garden magician Placido, lifeguard Fabio, charwomen and other staff whose names I don't know. And I have to write again - surely we return...…
