Wow, what a place! Restored with superb taste, elegantly combining the original and the modern and with top quality. Clearly a labour of love by the couple who own it, and whoever did the interior design deserves a prize! We stayed here as a family (there are excellent family rooms with a mezzanine level for the kids), really enjoyed our... More

Palac Pakoszow has kept many of its distinguishing characteristics from its long history but all of the modern amenities were available for the guests’ comfort. It’s in a great location, with mountains, lakes, and great walking and bike riding trails all around. Though it was peaceful and quiet, it was a convenient distance to many attractions. But the thing that... More

I wanted to stay in a palace and when a friend suggested this could be done quite cheaply in Poland I started googling. I was very please to find Pakoskow Palace. The hotel is quite remote and the only negative was that I found it hard to get any information about the surrounding area (in English) but as we were... More

Renovated in the last five years, this hotel charms you from the very start. Staff were courteous, thoughtful and tried very hard. An ideal place to either relax in as the spa is welcoming or to use as a base to visit the nearby mountains. I would happily return again as the prices are very good for such a luxurious... More

Frankly speaking we liked everything. The beautifully renovated building with character. Only best materials/decorations/furnishings were used. The perfect balance of a historical building decorated with modern art and some antique pieces. The comfort of everything - from the room right through the restaurant and pool area. Every detail is thought through to make sure all is just right. The restaurant which... More

Pros: - The Palac Pakoszow is located near the Giant Mountains (Karkonosze, Krkonoše) National Park which makes it a good place for exploring the nature there. The access to it was well marked. As for the hotel itself, we loved the beautifully decorated, well-equiped, spacious room with a cool modern shower, free luxurious toiletries, nice pool and overall atmosphere of... More

Everything is perfect about this place. Starting from the hotel, through the surroundings, food and finally - the service. My then fiance and I have chosen Palac Pakoszow for our wedding celebrations. I cannot express how very professional the whole organisation of the event was. I consider myself extraordinarily lucky to have chosen Palac Pakoszow for my big day! It... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The beauty of the Karkonosze Mountains has attracted the wealthy aristocracy to build their palaces and residences here for centuries. The valley became a regal hideaway. Over time many new parks were created, and the manors and palaces were rebuilt according to the newest architectural styles. Artificial ruins, small pavilions, cottages, romantic temples and viewpoints created a cultural landscape of international recognition.  The murmuring stream at the foot of the ruins of the Chojnik castle was a perfect, picturesque setting for a romantic mansion. However, compared to other establishments in this area, Pakoszow Palace has a completely different origins. In 1725, Johann Martin Gottfried - a wealthy merchant from Jelenia Gora - bought an old, simple building, that housed a linen bleaching manufacture from a man named Schaffgotsch Earl. He expanded it to today's shape with three wings and decided to locate his apartment and the representative rooms here. A representative hall is enchanting with a huge, allegorical plafond, which could be envied by any other palace in the neighborhood. Pakoszow Palace is an innovative combination of practical sense and the want for beauty. This factory-palace is one of the first innovative solutions of its kind in the industrial architecture of Europe. In the eighteenth century, the city of Jelenia Gora became famous for its linen industry. Huge sheets of drying flax were a hallmark of the city and surrounding areas. The facade of Pakoszow Palace is quite a striking and picturesque view because it is not shaded by trees. In the representative rooms, it is possible to meet with future business partners and show them the technology of bleaching linen.  This is an unique structure because other buildings of this size functioned more as palaces or mansions of the noble. It was very unusual for that time to construct such a big object by an ordinary citizen.  The tragic history of the twentieth century caused the palace to slowly fall into ruin, which seemed to be irreversible. Its extensive renovation for a fundamental reconstruction of the Pakoszow Palace is the work of the descendants of the former owners - Hagen and Ingrid Hartmann, whose family lived here until 1945. In 2005, the buildings and surrounding park were purchased by the 8 times Great-Grandfather of the Constructor, Hagen Hartmann, and his family. The whole property has been revitalized with enormous passion and respect to architectural design and details. The most spectacular renovation work was carried out in the representative room. The most difficult challenge was to recreate the plafond with its allegorical scenes. This task was conducted by Christoph Wetzel, the famous German artist who is a prominent expert in Baroque painting, and is known for the reconstruction of the paintings in the famous temple of the Frauenkirche in Dresden. A perfect contrast to the artwork on the ceiling is the illusion designed in the wooden floor, which is typical for the baroque palaces. An impressive example of art from the Baroque period is the tiled room from ca. 1770.  Every small blue tile was hand painted and all have different patterns. This room however, is still awaiting further renovation. This kind of room is unique for the entire Silesia region. This historic manor house currently offers 19 rooms and suites, all of which are a perfect combination of modern design and a beautiful taste of tradition. The Palace  Pakoszow - decorated with exclusive furniture - offers stylish rooms with free Wi-Fi, an LCD TV, air-conditioning, and includes a modern, elegant bathroom. In the restaurant, delicious dishes are served and the 15 ha (equals 36 acres) park invites guests to relax. The palace features an ornate living room for special occasions and a bar with a cozy fireplace. The Palace is complete with a stunning indoor swimming pool and a sauna to top off a relaxing stay. The garden is available with barbecue facilities and the sun terrace provides a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and Chojnik castle. The palace is equally admired by gourmets and art connoisseurs as well as families, , has kept the unique charm of the old Silesia. The Pakoszow Palace is located in a Valley of Palaces and Gardens, 10 km from Szklarska Poreba (mountain resort) and Jelenia Gora, and close to the PKP Train Station. The surrounding area offers many cycling and hiking possibilities. Thanks to its idealistic location in Piechowice, Palac Pakoszow is the optimal place to recharge your batteries. ... more   less
