We have just returned from another very enjoyable stay at this facility. We rented a small house, capable of sleeping 4 people and found the accommodation extremely good. Everything was very clean, well appointed and the kitchen was well equipped!
We had a few good meals at the restaurants on the park site and cannot fault the service.
I found the reception personnel very courteous, friendly and helpful, which is normal at Hambachtal. Overall, I would recommend this vacation spot to anyone who wants to wear their children out with lots of fun swimming, long country walks and just generally, good fun!!!

After booking a week here I read the rather negative remarks and was not sure what to expect once we had arrived.

We were however pleasantly surprised. Our house (84) was clean and the only thing that was not working was the light in the hallway(burned out light bulb). The kitchen, although dated, was complete and the refrigerator and freezer are a good size, enough to keep food in for almost a whole week. The bathroom with shower was really clean, not even any sign of mold or discoloring on the caulking. The subtropical swimming pool is also very nice and clean even though it is showing its age.

The Park was almost full while we were here but it never felt like it was crowded ( in the swimming pool, store or restaurant).

The location of this park is really nice.. the countryside is dotted with small villages and if you need to do any shopping Birkenfeld is less than 15 min from the park.

As for resturants.. there are enough in the area, I would however recommend Landgasthaus Böß (Hauptstraße 14 55767 Schwollen) for some great local dishes.

All in all, if you can live with the 70’s style interior or if you (as my partner does) enjoy the style, this is an excellent option and we are thinking about returning in the future.

I have been here 3 times already. The place is in a peaceful area not too far from major cities. A GPS is a must in order to find it. Reception staff was very friendly and multilingual, the amenities are dated but fun. There is a lake in front of the main Building for fishing. I recommend the archery class and fishing class. The cabins provide all the amenities for staying comfortably. Rooms are big, Kitchen, hot water, fireplace, etc. Only 1 or two power outlets. Make sure you have dual voltage adapter. Prices are usually higher during Summer Time but discounts are available off season. The restaurant is very good, I recommend the buffet. WiFi is not free and is only available in the main building and not in the cabins.

We had booked a stay at this Park in late February, hoping to catch some late winter weather. While their surroundings are amazing, the place itself isn't. The furniture looked like it came out of the 70's and they didn't even bother to dust everything off before we arrived. The mattresses on the bed were horrible and you could literally feel the springs jabbing into your bed each time you turned in your sleep. The springs made so much noise that the next day, all 3 of us had to sleep in separate rooms so as not to wake the other up. There was no wi-fi but there was a message at the reception that we could buy some sort of internet package but that internet access in the individual parks weren't promised. It is daylight and blatant robbery that you would dare advertise something which costs money but isn't guaranteed to work. The food in the restaurant was pathetic especially the so-called breakfast buffet on Sunday morning. We would have to pay E10.50 per person and all they had was just some bread and cheese. There was only one serving of scrambled eggs which were gone by the time we got there (at 8ish). Their only redemption was their swimming pool area which was big and generous.

The service was overall good, the waitresses spoke good English so I would guess this is a management problem. I wouldn't suggest going to this place if it weren't for us wanting to get cheap accommodation to the nearby city of Trier but paying a bit more would be well worth the money. Roompot really needs to renovate their parks if they ever hope to bring in more and better guests. As it is, it looks like some abandoned relic from a communist past. This was dumbfounding considering that other Roompot parks which we have been to have all been wonderful, clean and well managed. Yes, this Roompot is in the middle of nowhere but that is no excuse especially if you're going to be receiving guests. We paid good money and we deserve a clean nice room.

The only way someone could like this place is if you had grown up living in a closet and have never stayed in a hotel before. It's frightening that there are positive, let alone 4-star reviews of this place. You stay in these probably 40 year old, 1970s decorated damp moldy buildings. The tiny rooms have cheaply build, tiny children's beds packed into them. Linens are of the cheapest quality and worn. As you enter the living room, you'll notice puke orange colored couches and drapes. If you are looking for entertainment in your room, turn around before you enter the building because you won't find any. The TV is a tiny Chinese pillbox format TV with few channels and no English channels. The internet is hotspot is non functional and costs money to use even if it did work. This is how all the buildings are from the information I was given. This "resort" is probably called one only because this is what a person resorts to when they choose not to spend much money. It's still not even worth it. This place needs to be bulldozed and start over again. Also, I believe that some positive reviews of this place most likely fake and from the ownership.

We have never seen any house that was so un-clean. It had not been cleaned for very long time. In every corner there were multiple of dead flies, spider webs and fluffs of dust. We had to clean all the dishes before we could use it. In one of the three bedrooms, there was an unfinished wasp nest. It was impossible to take a shower because of the only 5-liters hot-water-tank, and with either maximum or no power of the hot water.
The subtropical waterpark was okay, but the changing-room facilities was not segregated. One of the two tennis courts was greased by moss. The lake to swim in was so low, that it was impossible to swim in, and there was definitely no beach with no beach sun loungers.

Response from Roompot, Afdeling Kwaliteit at Ferienpark Hambachtal

Thank you for your review. Sad to read that the accommodation wasn't clean. Did you told the reception about your problems? They could find a solution for you to make your holiday better. We hope to see you once again at one of our Roompot parcs! Greetings, Cynthia

The parc facilities are okay. The swimming pool is nice, the parc is clean.
The houses are a little outdate. The kitchen and terrace need a redo. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom clean.
Lots of fun things to do with kids within 20 km of the parc.

Had a great time. Great walks in the nearby forests with the dog. My daughter loved the swimming pool. It was in need of a bit of maintenance but not a danger to people. The apartment's were basic, but we know that beforehand. Fitted with a kettle, coffee machine and cooker we were sorted. A quick trip to the nearby Aldi in Birkenfeld and enough supplys for the week were had. Nice freindly staff and and good with the younger kids.

Food in the bistro was pretty decent and not too expensive. Overall we had a great time. I loved the early morning walks in the forest. Go check it out with the family.

Good location, good facilities (mini-golf, supermarket, swimmingpool, restaurant), basic and dated accomodation. As I said in the title: your money's worth.
Some downsides:
- the house didn't have enough sockets for all our electric/electronic equipment. We had to put the electric toothbrush in the kitchen for lack of socket in the bathroom. But that's OK
- the supermarket only opened at 8.30 and then ofcourse there was a queue for fresh bread and roles. So our day-trips started a little later than usual.
