First, just know you will drive awhile to get here and some of it will be on some bumpy roads. We hear they should be getting paved so fingers crossed. Aside from that, your getaway to Mariposa will be everything you could desire for a jungle lodge. The staff is very accommodating and treat you to a wonderful stay the entire time. They always go out of their way to help make you happy. The food is incredible as everyone has written. Order Fry jacks, refried beans, and eggs for breakfast, you won't regret it. Roby and Glad were so sweet to our boys. Book the meal plan it's totally worth it, they treat every evening experience like the most romantic retreat. (We book through the hotels when we stay in places like this--You get a better rate) You won't want to leave to find somewhere else to eat. The grounds are beautifully kept with assorted flowers and lots of hiking paths. Of course bring tons of bugspray. Our cabana was beautiful. We loved laying out on the porch in the hammock and listening to the birds. It is tranquil and relaxing to the core in this jungle oasis. Hi everyone, Wyatt and Henry miss you so much!

SFX: Tarzan happy yell You want adventure? You want wild Belizean excitement? No problem! Oh, and you also want to be comfortable? Also no problem. This is the place for you. Spent two nights here on recent trip to Belize and very grateful for the find. You're surrounded by nature and hiking trails, absolutely. And the cabanas, facilities, and staff are all top-notch as well. This is far from roughing-it in the bush. You're treated well here. The cabanas are beautifully designed and immaculate, decked out with a comfortable bed and Mayan-inspired linens. Bathrooms - luxurious, with great (hot!) water pressure. Too nice for the jungle, for sure. Accommodations are top-notch. My cabana had a private screened-in back porch for viewing nature. The staff are all super professional and attentive. I am comfortable driving in Belize but the staff like Anastasia made sure I was confident about finding the place by providing detailed instructions, including photos for reference. Very helpful. I was greeted with a welcome beverage and I felt very taken care of right from arrival. Dining was amazing. I felt spoiled. I have some dietary restrictions and Norma made sure I was taken care of, planning meals with me ahead of time, and also adjusting on the fly when I changed my mind. Lots of local fruit and vegetables, as requested, and fish. I like street tacos, but it will be hard to go back to that after spending two days here and eating like a king. A Jungle king. Rosa and Robbie are great. The grounds are well taken care of. There's a pool and bar deck, day spa, yoga deck, and bird-watching tower. All designed with the same aesthetic. Well thought-out. Excellent facilities. I went for some solo hikes and although I felt like I was in the jungle, I felt safe everywhere cause the trails are really well-marked. I'd say this is the ideal place for a family or couples who want to dip their toe into the Belizean Jungle. You're in the jungle, yes. But it feels like a resort. A great place for beginners to the wilds of Belize or someone (like me) who just wants to be pampered for a short stay. I did not try any of the day trips since I've been to Belize a lot, but was impressed with how accommodating the staff are for the guests in organizing trips and shuttling them to their destinations. They go above and beyond. There's enough to do on the grounds for a few days without getting bored, and also would be a great home base to do some day trips. Perfect for the new traveller to Belize. And for people like me, a grizzled veteran, a lovely oasis to just unplug and not worry about anything for a short stay.

We picked Mariposa Jungle Lodge because we could enjoy the jungle without needing to explain vegan food or worry that we’d be living on bananas for 5 days. Prior to our visit, we were sent a food questionnaire and we can attest that it was printed out and tacked to the fridge in the kitchen. As a result, a vegan breakfast, lunch and dinner just seemed to magically appear. We booked the honeymoon/anniversary 5-day package and also added on the meal plan. That’s the way to go — there’s no place else to eat within miles and there’s no reason to look elsewhere. Once on the package, you don’t open your wallet while there, which eliminates the commercialism of tourism. The grounds are as pictured, including a hiking trail. The cabanas are comfortable and well-maintained. The whole place does force you to slow down. The fact that there is not much to do on site is part of the allure. There’s yoga mats, massage by Lilly, light hiking, lounging by the pool (that has a ping pong table and some weights), but after the full day tours really all we wanted was a leisurely meal and the hammock. Robbie the bar tender makes excellent drinks — on par with or better than big city hotels. Rosa goes all out on the table and room decorating. Someone there on staff, I suspect Rosa, has a Ph.D in napkin folding and towel sculpting. We took a cooking lesson with Norma, which was fun to see how someone prepares all of that elegant food without all the tools that we’re used to further north. We plan to try our hand at her empanadas when we’re home. We’ve been vegan for years and still learned a thing about scrambled breakfast tofu from Norma and Lilly, the breakfast cook. This is a small resort (only about 6 cabanas) with a lot of personalized attention for guests. For some meals, we had Robbie, Rosa and Norma all to ourselves, and managers (Gladimir and Anastasia) on the property also knew our schedule and were looking after us. For our final evening, three staffers delivered our special dessert to our table like we were royalty. (After they had posted it on Instagram!) We would recommend this to any vegans and those who love vegans and those just want to enjoy the jungle without being confronted with dietary choices that are bad for the environment.

Spent a very relaxing 3 nights at the lodge. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Our cabin was very comfortable and had everything you needed including a small fridge and water. The food was prepared fresh every day. They were so accommodating to everyone's preferences. Robi served us every meal with a smile. The welcome/departure note that was on our menu was a nice touch!

Friend and I sought a getaway for a few days and this was perfect. No highrise hotels, no elevator music playing constantly, no loud screaming around pool area. To wake in the morning and be able to listen to birdsong and warm breezes blowing through palms was heavenly. Cleanest cabana that I have ever seen. Even in the humidity, no mold, no cobwebs, no dust bunnies. Belizean staff was outstanding. Friendly and helpful. Food was good and beautifully presented.
