I stayed at Sabine in the very quiet season for 3 months. I absolutely love it there! Anusha and her family are wonderful hosts and they treated me like family. The rooms are nice, comfortable and clean. You wake up right on a gorgeous beach where you can swim, surf, snorkel with turtles, sunbathe and just relax. I was so lucky to see Green and Loggerhead turtles laying their eggs and I also got to see some of these baby turtles hatching! It is also only 15 min walk or few minutes scooter ride to the supermarkets and shops. Very close to Matara too if you want to go to the city. They are awesome surf instructors and if you need your surfboard fixed bring it here! They do a superior job.
I had a fantastic stay at Sabine’s Holiday resort. Room is perfect and you fall asleep with the noice of the sea. Very quite and “private” beach. Food and snacks are really good and served with love. Very local and a mustbook 🤪.

I didn't know what to expect of surfing in Madiha. I only knew about the more advanced Madiha Surf Point but I was probably not good enough to go there. We stayed in a homestay close to Sabine's place which was perfectly located in the town so I booked a private surfing lesson there on our first day in Madiha. The atmosphere at Sabine's was super chill and relaxed and the surf spot is just on their backyard! It's a beautiful sand beach but reef break. I got to borrow booties so no problem. The instructor/owner guy (I forgot your name!) was really supportive and patient, checking after me and giving some general advice on the spot (there are a few rocks to be avoided etc.). It was now at Sabine's in the following days, when I was for the first time brave enough to rent the board on my own. There were other people in the water too, especially in the afternoons also some local guys. But the line-up was not too crowded and somehow the beach was just so lovable and waves gentle. And there are turtles too! I tried two different boards and they were in good condition and the rental prices really decent. We also enjoyed breakfast once in their garden. It was tasty and coffee some of the best I had in Sri Lanka :) Did I already mention that the family running the place is really sweet and helpful. Definitely worth visiting when in Madiha!…
The place is like heaven : you are literally on the beach, the food is delicious (fried rice, fish on BBQ, ice tea ...) and the owners are really nice and helpful, they will provide you good advice on what to do in the area, they arrange you the prices for the tuktuk so you don’t overpay the services, ... They also rent a lot of different surfboards for a cheap price. In a word : go there
