We stayed here for 7 nights, the view is truly stunning and tallala beach peaceful and unspoilt. The room was large and basic bit there were a lot of ants etc. The Sri Lankan waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, but the rest of the staff (especially the owners) showed little to no interest in us and did not make us feel welcome. There was no official reception as such and when we were having issues with our aircon breaking and wifi not working (which we had paid extra for) we asked repeatedly for help and received none. The owners loitered around using the wifi so we were unable to use it as it was slow anyway. The breakfast was nice but the other meals we ate there were really not good and I am not a fussy eater! Did not go in the pool as was grubby. We ate at the tallala retreat on the last night and wished we had stayed there as the food, ambience and staff were excellent!

We were given extra discount for early booking and say many thanx for that. The place and the view is really fantastic, probably the best location in Sri Lanka. The beach is amazing, 800 meters long, but sometimes not very clean. Although you are almost along on this beach. Things which need to be improved: - room service - we were forced to ask for towels change and room cleaning, since it was not done at the regular basis at all - food - if you will be almost alone in the hotel - don't count on diverse breakfasts and dinners. But when hotel is crowded the choice of meals is good. As for us - the meals were overspiced sometimes. - The TV didn't work at all. We wish all the best to hotel owners and personnel and will be missing this magic place on hill

Location is fantastic, views are fabulous from almost every spot within the hotel area, de luxe room is spacious as well as its balcony. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners we had there were rich and tasty and entire staff both Czech (Pavel and his girlfriend) and local (Melanie, Chami and Gayan) were more than helpful, friendly and attentive. We had to leave earlier and they were kind to charge us only some fees and not the full price for the remaining part of our stay.
But, as somebody has already noticed, the management needs to improve the general daily running of the hotel and take care of some 'small' things that will give this place more value, for example: there should be flat wide screen TVs or no TVs at all, because the existing ones are ridiculous, Wi-Fi should be free of charge and available throughout all hotel areas, there should be some reading lights next to the bed (we didn't have one in our de luxe room) and it took us four days to obtain one from the management, there should be a kettle with some tea and coffee bags in the room, there should be some more sunbathing chairs and towels next to the pool area etc. Alternatively, reduction of accommodation price could be satisfactory solution.

The name and address of this housing, which cannot even be called a hotel, is listed above. This is not a hotel or a home for people, this is a room for animals!!! Horror! The furniture, like everything else, is in a terribly dirty state, completely unsanitary! The centuries-old dirt here can no longer be washed off, insects of all kinds! Horror! We couldn't stay there for more than one night! The owner in the ad on Booking simply blatantly lies about everything that is there, including about the road to the beach which is at least 1 km long and without any sidewalks! There are no cafes or shops as indicated! With my review I want to warn people planning a vacation from visiting this premises (there are no other decent names)!

To give them credit, we were the first guests of either a new owner or temporary owner, not sure which. The place is hard to find and you trek up a rocky, muddy slope of a driveway to get to it. We could tell the view at midnight (when we finally arrived) was going to be great. Turns out, probably the best of the entire island. Once we got into the room though, we could smell an odor of staleness and old unwashed bedding on a very uncomfortable mattress. We also instantly noticed a trail of ants marching from the bathroom, meeting another army of ants at the front door then carry on through the room to the back door frame. This took place the entire time we were there (3 nights) and we did not want to disturb them so they would remain in their line and not scatter through the room. There were no towels or toiletries, however the owner provided those at request, unfortunately that included a half used bottle of shower gel and 2 towels. The food was not very good and looked nothing like the pictures posted here. If you need water or anything else, you must get a tuk-tuk to town, (recommend bringing a big bottle of water and snacks along, b/c there is no kitchen or coke machine for convenience).The most disappointing part is, they have the food to be eaten outside, which is definitely where you would want to eat with the view, however they have no fans. Which means - FLIES. We are pretty laid back and adaptable people, so we didn't say anything, but we had to swat at flies swarming our food. This wasn't like 3 or 4 flies, I'm talking dozens. There were no options for food, the first morning we were served eggs and toast (our son is allergic to eggs, so he had toast and water). 2nd morning similar, but it also included yogurt and juice for my son. There was also a spider the size of my hand in the bathroom, but that's not surprising in the jungle. My son also got bit by something pretty intense while walking near the pool b/c the grass was not mowed/trimmed near the pool. It came to his waist and our knees. I really wanted to rate this place high as the lady running the place was very nice, but overall, I feel the need to warn future tourists and/or provide our experience to the owner so things can be improved. We were informed we were the first guests, so the previous reviews do not apply. The pics of the rooms are only similar b/c of the room, they were not nearly as neat and presentable. There were many places much cheaper in the area as well as throughout the country of Sri Lanka, though to be clear, this may have the best view of the entire island. The owner did say she was bringing in help to improve the facility and services. This will go a long way, the place could be fantastic, though the location is a bit far from anything other than the view.

We spent a few days here and I must say, that everything was perfect! Beautiful view, cozy rooms, open dining room.... The hotel has got its old owner back, who is doing his best to achieve the highest possible level for such little hotel. It's located away from crowded towns and you feel here like in a little paradise... I've visited Panorama Hotel twice already and I believe it's not going to be the final number of my visits. I highly recommend this place !!!!

It is not clean, not organised. Could not use the pool (dirty). Food takes forever and it is not worth the wait. Rooms are big, but sheets are torn and they do not clean while you are there. The view is amazing, though. No sunbeds by the ocean or anything. I wanted to leave pretty much immediately, but as we could not get the money back, we stayed. They told us that we need to pay the booking.com- fees (refused, of course), could not pay with a credit card. No wifi while we stayed (only for the first day).

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights here, the reason we score it as poor is as follows;
The good
The view is great The room was relatively clean The boys that ran the place
The bad
The bed was extremely uncomfortable, neither my girlfriend or I slept much when we stayed and both had bad backs after (we're in our 20's!)
We had an aircon unit in our room, but it never reached us and did nothing to cool it - we had to get a fan next to bed.
The place is run by boys, very nice boys - but they are still picking up and English, it feels like the place has no staff.
We had no running water, on two of the three nights!!!
The place is infested with lizards, we counted more than 20 next to us whilst trying to eat our dinner - fully appreciate were in a tropical place, but we spent 3 weeks in Sri Lanka staying in all kinds of places - this one really took the biscuit.
The owners were very reluctant to help, one of them shooed me away with her hand when I asked her were the nearest shop was and got one of the boys to talk to me. They spent most of their time, it appeared, drinking beer and smoking - never asked once how our stay was.
If you're really trying to save then stay, but don't expect to enjoy it. I suggest you fork out the extra and stay at talallah retreat (which is just down the beach) - we spent all our days here, had lunch and dinner and used their pool and facilities - the staff, the venue and the food was much MUCH better.
