Covid prevented us from coming to Barbados 2 or 3 years ago to have our first stay at The Sandpiper, and I believe the hotel was requisitioned to help with the pandemic. Well, it was worth the wait and we probably appreciated it even more, as a result. We thought it was the nicest beachside property we have ever visited, although on our stay the sea and wind were a bit lively, restricting access to the beach and the ocean somewhat. No matter though, as the hotel provides every possible amenity. The welcome is warm and genuine, and is a foretaste of the relaxed and professional hospitality of the place - the staff are all immaculately presented, and are all constantly but discreetly attentive - really nothing is any trouble to them. Beautiful grounds and property, just a few steps from the Ocean, and ten minutes walk to Holetown, with all its attractions and history. Accommodation excellent, with either sea or garden views, and meticulously serviced. Food and Bev offerings first-class, led by a clever and impressive Head Chef, and a great team of expert food and bev professionals, including Harold, the legend, and many others. Two beautiful spotlessly maintained pool areas, as well as the beach front areas, an excellent gym, and great access to lovely walks on the beach. Unsurprisingly, we met many repeat guests, some long-standing, unanimously impressed that The Sandpiper finds just the right balance between the commodity beach resorts and the legendary pretentiousness of some of the better known properties. Every member of The Sandpiper team plays a key role in making this place feel welcoming, homely, and completely professional.…
Fabulous hotel, beautiful gardens. Friendly staff and just a few hundred yards walk into Holetown. My only real complaint was people seemed to get up at 5-6am and place books or magazines onto all the sun loungers and try and reserve them and not show up until lunch time or early afternoon. So bad that it actually meant you struggled to get a sun lounger. Come on hotel - you can manage that and do much better. And don’t just pay lip service and say you will, actually do something about it. It was very very annoying. But even though I complain about that. I will remind everyone that it’s just a fabulous hotel, great service and lush tropical surroundings. And I will be back. So Thank You for a glorious week.
We were delighted to return once again to our home from home. It’s very difficult to find fault. Since our last visit the management has changed but standards are thankfully as good as ever. We love The Sandpiper and will return. Enough said..🥰
We made our annual return to this wonderful hotel and had another brilliant holiday. The best management, staff, service, food, comfortable rooms all make for a stress free, relaxing holiday. We could not recommend this hotel more which is why we have returned every year for 10+ years. Well done to Wayne and Ken (new manager) for a fabulous hotel.
It was great to return to the Sandpiper once again for an amazingly relaxing holiday. This year we visited with our daughter - who flew in from the US - while we arrived from the UK. We really value the fact that this family run hotel has maintained a super staff and culture throughout the time that we have been visiting Barbados (now over 10 years). It was great to see that the ambiance and culture of the hotel and its wonderful team remained very much the same, even after the change of Hotel manager - with Ken Flockhart taking the place of Russell Croney who retired after many years leading the team. Our room - which looked out over the beach and sea was spotless and super comfortable - with a large sitting area and kitchenette. The team very kindly remembering my preference for tea over coffee and making sure that there was a kettle and fresh milk in the fridge. There are always plenty of bath and beach towels in the well appointed bathroom, with the White Company toiletries adding an extra touch of class. The highlight of every day (for me at least) is the buffet breakfast - while there is an a la carte menu - the breakfast hot and cold spread and freshly cooked eggs is one of the best I have enjoyed anywhere in the world. Dave did a great job of making us feel very welcome every day (and getting me some fresh milk to take back to the room for my copious cups of tea through the day!). The lunch menu is very varied - with classics - such as burgers and pasta and our daughters favourite, the blackened-chicken wrap, as well as daily specials. In the evening the restaurant food remains first class - with a varied selection of daily specials as well as their selection of classic haute cuisine meals. We also very much enoy the buffet night and BBG evening where the catering team show how good they are at a beautiful range of salads, main dishes and desserts - far too many desserts - the choice was very tricky! While enjoying relaxing on the beach, the things we really value at the Sandpiper are the excellent tennis courts and the dinghy sailing. Once again, the 'hightide' beach crew were super helpful making sure that my wife and daughter enjoyed sailing the laser dinghy - whilst we never had any problem booking at tennis court, with Olinda and David on the front desk always being super helpful. As ever, 'super-helpful' is true of all the team. Every one of the staff is really first class. However, we would really like to thank LeMar, Victor and Patrick on the beach; Gavin, Jamel and Kyle in the restarant, along with Anthony, Nicholas, Tina and Marvin. David, Janal and Eulene as Maitre D'. Everyone of these went the extra mile to make our stay supremely relaxing after a hectic year. And of course, we also need to thank Harold! The star, of the week, however, was one of the the newest members of the team - Destiny - who is a great addition to the Sandpiper family. Ken Flockhat has inherited a great team and a wonderful hotel! Quite simply, we never tire of visiting the Sandpiper and cant recommend it highly enough if you want simple, comfortable, luxury. We are already booked for 2023. …
Having read lots of reviews on other hotels whist planning our first ever visit to Barbados, several said that if you really want a first class hotel, go to The Sandpiper. So we did. The hotel did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded our expectations. We are used to high end accommodation: the luxury of the Sandpiper, from the very well laid out gardens and whole set up is up there with the best. The restaurant is so well designed, and a really nice place to dine- the food and service is excellent. But what really sets The Sandpiper apart, and what I didn’t expect, was how lovely and genuinely pleased to help, the people who work there are. They are all really nice. A special shout out to the legendary Harold; Bob from Watersports, and our new friend Patrick, who kept us reminded about what we were meant to be doing that day 😁 Also to Olinda, who managed, at very short notice, to order me the most amazing bunch of flowers for my wife’s birthday, All in all, a magical place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to this lovely hotel and have planned our next visit already. Can’t wait to return!…
This was a delayed visit having supposed to stay pre-Covid in 2020. The hotel is beautiful, small enough to have a luxurious boutique feel but big enough to create a lovely atmosphere with the other guests. Great location, ideal beach / water front and handy for a night out in Holetown. Rooms, grounds, pools, breakfast and bars were all excellent. All of the staff were extremely welcoming, too many to mention but special thanks to Kyle & Destiny in the restaurant and Patrick on the beach. We were particularly impressed when the lobby staff who went out of their way to accommodate us for an additional night at the end of our holiday when our flight home was cancelled at short notice - special thanks to David & Anita. Couple of minor points to consider:- Some lighting outside of Harold’s Bar so you can see what you’re eating / drinking and each other would be welcomed. Drop the need for long trousers for gents in the restaurant, think this would lead to more guests using it. Certain guests (believed to be regular visitors to the hotel) seem to have the privilege of having beach beds reserved in water fronted prime spots by the sunbed staff very early each morning - feels unnecessary, particularly when said guests sometimes spend the day around the pool and the beach beds remain unoccupied. Recommendations shouldn’t detract from what was otherwise a brilliant hotel and would t hesitate to recommend to others.…
Thankyou so much to the team at The Sandpiper it truly has been a magical experience and one that we will definitely repeat. We felt like celebrities from the moment we arrived until the time we left. To single any member of staff out is not right as they are all truly fantastic. Anything we wanted was never a problem from a trip around the island, a catamaran for the day or a speed boat to take us to lunch up the coast. Thankyou and we look forward to seeing again.
The Sandpiper Hotel saved our holiday! We were originally booked to stay in The Sands and upon arrival realised it was not for us. We found the Sandpiper and it was everything we had hoped for and more! Pure luxury and attention to detail was phenomenal! Best bits: • The White Company toiletries and a lovely bath. • The coasters around the bottom of the wineglasses to prevent them dripping were a lovely touch • The whole hotel smelled amazing, candles and diffusers were beautiful and created a lovely atmosphere • Everything was top top quality and the furniture was so comfortable • Nothing was too much trouble, the staff here are so welcoming • The food! Especially the Cesar Salad Thank you so much!
We first stayed at The Sandpiper in 2017 and had booked to return in 2020 but because of the pandemic we postponed until this November 2022 and it was well worth the wait. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was so comfortable. The maids cleaned everyday and turned down every night. Fantastic Breakfast and great beach and pools. All Staff were extremely friendly but I am going to point out 2 superstars, Anita and David on the front desk - our VA homeward flight was cancelled when we were at the departure gate 2230hrs so we quickly rang the hotel to see if they could accommodate us and 2 other couples that had also been staying there (we knew the hotel was virtually full) and Anita and David worked wonders to sort us out and arrange for a people carrier to collect us from the airport . The location of the resort in Holetown is perfect with many fantastic restaurants , shops and supermarket a 5 minute walk.…
