We stayed 4 nights after completing a Windward Island Clipper cruise. It's just wonderful! We were showed to our room early which was a bonus we did not expect and although I had booked a garden room, it was on the first floor so we still managed to see the sea and the beautiful sunsets. The room and balcony were perfect. We requested tea & coffee making kit and with the fridge on the balcony we stocked up from the local supermarket. Everyone in reception/bar and around the pool, beach & housekeeping were so smiley and helpful. The restaurant however for us is a different story. The food was very mediocre therefore SO overpriced. The breakfast was good as a buffet, but the ladies there could do with lessons on how to look happy and be bothered to serve you - us guests are paying a lot to stay here! we ate dinner once, but not the best food for the price and again miserable service. We'll try some local eateries next time just opposite the Club. The supermarket does great take out cold and hot food so we sat a couple of evenings on our balcony just chilling. Would we go back to Coral Reef? Well, I've already said next time! - It was everything we needed to round off our holiday! Hope the restaurant improves though.…
The good stuff…. Coral reef club is on a very pretty stretch of beach with beautiful warm clear water and soft white sand . We loved swimming to the raft and canoeing - so much fun. We loved how spacious the luxury cottage rooms were - dotted around the absolutely stunning gardens . We saw and heard lots of different species of birds and even some monkeys…. It’s a gorgeous tropical vibe there … The guys on the beach - Antony and Carlos and sheldon were just great. So warm and friendly. The food is really delicious. Shrimp tacos to die for . Going out to eat at restaurants nearby was fun. Taxis are easy to get from hotel reception. We loved Nishi in Holetown in particular. The bad It’s a very old crowd in February. Think average age 75. The interiors of the bedrooms could definitely be updated a little though particularly the mattress in the main bedroom which was very lumpy and hurt my back and the sofa bed which was absolutely awful to be honest The ancient sun loungers need updating - they sag and again give you a bad back. And they are far too crammed together on the beach for a 5 star hotel . Some of the ladies at breakfast a bit unfriendly but we all have our off days. Mostly positive things to say. I really just think they need to invest in a few new things to keep this hotel up to date.…
My first time in Barbados and it didn't disappoint. Family run hotel and a lot of the guests have been coming for many years. Everyone very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful setting next to the beach and eating with the waves meters from us - idyllic. Big shout out to Jason who kept our drinks topped up and was good fun and great chat, Mark(ie) for sorting our cool box out for the fishing trip. (nothing too much trouble.) Shelly for the eggs in the morning... she works incredibly hard, Stephen for his happy, jolly demeaner and attentive service and Zaron (don't know if I've got the correct spelling from water sports for taking us out in the hobit. Hopefully we will be back next year. Thank you to all the hotel staff.
This family run hotel is so lovely, on the beach, lovely terrace for drinks (great cocktails), food great, rooms with lots of space, large terrace and some with better views than others- rooms that are actually on the beach are the best, location is good as it’s close to many restaurants nearby, the staff are all so lovely, helpful, happy and a joy to see every day although breakfast team should be a little quicker with tea/coffee orders! front desk is super helpful if you need anything and nothing is to much trouble so all in all if you’re looking for a relaxing time with a good energy in beautiful surroundings then Coral Reef is the place to stay (in our experience) :)
We stayed for 8 nights in January and really enjoyed our visit. The grounds are beautiful, the hotel is not new and flashy but is extremely well kept and has an older Caribbean vibe (which is what we were looking for). The staff were wonderful, the front desk was always helpful, the bartenders and wait staff in the restaurant were so attentive and we felt truly taken care of, and a special thank you to Sheldon & Carlos on the beach who made every beach day a wonderful day. You couldn't get a more beautiful beachfront or gardens to lounge around in (there is a table right off the beach for lunch that is one of the nicest views/spots for lunch we've ever had), you can walk into Holetown for a change in scenery or to try different restaurants, and you can walk down the beach to the Sandpiper (sister hotel) for lunch or dinner (in our opinion, Coral Reef Club is vastly superior to the Sandpiper). The Thursday bbq is great. It definitely gears towards an older crowd, so if you're looking for nightlife or lively entertainment then this is not your bag. They could do with diversifying the musical guests/etc but they are probably satisfying the crowd that keeps coming back for more of what they love. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed coming down to the lounge/bar/outdoor seating for a drink and a game of cards before dinner, the food was excellent, and they had top notch wine and drinks. If you're looking to chill out in an exceptionally beautiful place and feel pampered, then this is the place. You can take long walks in each direction on the beach daily, and the snorkelling right off the beach was some of the best "walk in" snorkelling we've seen - better than the tours that take you to the shipwrecks and turtles down on the southern end. We rarely go to a place twice but will definitely come back to Coral Reef Club.…
We had great expectations of Coral reef and unfortunately found it lacking in service. First the positives: Beautiful hotel grounds and the gardens are spectacular. Our room was large with a nice terrace and bathroom. They kindly allowed us to stay in our room until 6pm as we had a late flight and this was much appreciated. And the downside…… This primarily relates to service Restaurant: Poor attitude from the waiting staff, every morning at breakfast I would have to find someone to order coffee, I got barked at when asking where the butter was”, … “on your table” ( no it wasn’t). Egg lady was rude. At dinner, wrong wine brought to table, waiter didn’t know what a certain menu item was, went to find out and then when it came was not what was explained. It went back and something else was ordered. Interestingly the couple on the next table said they had the same problems ( wrong wine, meat cold and wrong dessert). The hotel did not charge for our food this evening. Housekeeping: Used cotton bud from previous guest under sink for our 3 night stay, cleanliness should be paramount. No slippers or body lotion in our room, I enquired with housekeeping if they should be there “ oh yes”, was the answer and they then delivered some. Beach/pool: On our first afternoon we sat by the pool for 2 hours no drinks service. Moved to the beach, beds & towels everywhere couldn’t work out which were vacated or not. Had to go and hunt for a beach guy to get towels and sort a couple of beds. Exactly the same the following day and no beach guys on duty. I found a lady serving drinks and she kindly found the towels, when I enquired as the where the beach guys were I was told they had gone to a medical appointment. What I find most disappointing is that some of these things were brought to the attention of the guest services manager on our 2nd day and nothing changed. ( used cotton bud still under sink 2 days later)! I fully appreciate that the pandemic has created major problems in the hospitality industry but for $1000+ a night I would have expected better. The hotel has a great repeat customer following but unfortunately we won’t be among them even though we do come to Barbados most years.…
We booked here to stay a third time and the way we have been treated we will never return. We tried requesting a room we had previously stayed in to be told it’s booked. We then tried requesting another room to be told you’re not that regular a guest others come before you when it comes to requests even though it was for Nov 2023.We also received an email to be informed we were on a wait list for a luxury junior suite even though we paid 50% deposit for this category of room.Absolutely disgraceful disappointing service to say the least. They clearly have gone above themselves and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.Everyone should be treated as an equal…
This was our first trip to the Coral Reef Club and we adored it. The property is gorgeous and the staff warm and welcoming. Loved having the tennis clinic in the afternoons. Would maybe have enjoyed more group activities like that, but no complaints. Guests were friendly and overall vibe is that it is a safe haven. Loved the sorbet on the beach!
First visit for three years and very grateful to the O'Hara family for finding room for us as the hotel was " full". Did involve changing rooms for wife and I but this was a painless process as everything was moved for us- wardrobe to wardrobe! Spent 16 days , including 9 days when our daughter joined us , at this lovely hotel . Been visiting this hotel for over 25 years now and it still sets the standard for Barbados hotels . Stayed in a Luxury Junior Suite which was excellently furnished and the first one was one of the best rooms we have stayed at here. Large number of staff have been there for years and it shows through their friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency. Gardens are beautiful and well maintained by the many garden staff who are always happy to chat about what they are doing . Beach area is kept in good condition and the beach staff are again very friendly and helpful, especial thanks to Anthony and Clifton. The watersports team are great fun and always ready to help. Gym is well equipped and was regularly used which becomes a necessity as the restaurant and bar are so good . Food throughout was excellent with an extensive breakfast buffet and dinners were extremely enjoyable , most nights with great musical entertainment. The regular presence of the O'Hara family is an important part of the reason this hotel maintains such high standards and is one worth visiting time and again.…
We have just returned from a wonderful week at Coral Reef Club. The hotel is set in magnificent gardens, and much of the accommodation is set in the gardens. The staff cannot do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They are so helpful and so kind, from the housekeeping team, the beachside team to the restaurant and receptions teams, everyone is wonderful. We had booked bed and breakfast, but ate in the hotel restaurant three nights. The food both at breakfast and dinner was superb, a mixture of local cuisine and the more standard fare - but with a twist. We are looking forward to returning to Coral Reef Club as soon as we can!
