Friendly welcome, the hotel has good facilities for a short stay, good bar, restaurant, information and a pool table. A short walk downhill to the sea and a beautiful sandy beach to explore. Rooms were fine, clean and provided a good nights sleep. The local fish and chips taken in the restaurant was excellent value.

There's nothing really bad about this hotel, it is just that no-one is looking at the detail and therefore it has a 'couldn't care less' feel. I stayed for 1 night in one of the rooms in a modern block. Bathroom is too small, so you can get in the shower, but it is difficult to move in any direction... More

We booked this hotel as it claimed to be dog friendly and we wanted a break away with our 2 dogs. We had never been to this part of England before and were looking forward to our 2 night stay. The rooms on the first floor are really not that dog friendly, especially for older dogs struggling to get up... More

First time we've been for a Sunday carvery lunch at the Royal and it was really lovely. Light and airy dining room with linen table cloths and good cutlery. The usual choice of meats were available - I had turkey and ham - plus all the trimmings and plenty of fresh vegetables. £9.95 pp. Desserts are very reasonable at £3.95.... More

Room was fine, a bit tatty around the edges but nothing show stopping. Bathroom OK only a shower but that is not a concern for me. Some small signs of mould around shower guard base. Toilet brush was disgusting, why do hotels allow this to happen. If you supply one then bleach it clean for goodness sake. Didn't have evening... More

We arrived 20 mins earlier than the 3pm check in time hoping to be allowed into our room (toddler in tow after a two hour journey) but were told check in most definitely wasn't until 3pm. She wasn't prepared to even ask if the room was ready. Not a particularly warm welcome from her or even a "how was your... More
