Nestled in a prime spot for beach enthusiasts, the Kimpton Grand Roatan Resort and Spa garners high marks for its stunning location with easy access to snorkeling and diving. The resort's modern yet locally-inspired decor impresses guests, as does the exceptional spa and the high standard of cleanliness throughout. Service is typically described as warm and professional, contributing to the hotel's sophisticated atmosphere. Spacious rooms with breathtaking views are a highlight, although some guests note room issues. The value proposition, however, draws criticism with mentions of overpriced services.

I’ll begin by saying we have been to Roatan 4 times and this is our third stay at the Grand Roatan. We always stay in a 2 bedroom oceanfront condo right next to the pool. Most everything is unchanged at this point from the previous visits. Still a great room with a full kitchen and all the utensils and pans you could need for a lengthy stay. Views are awesome and the snorkeling as always is terrific.

At this point I would like to explain how we all feel things have changed. At the resort we have noticed a few smaller things that stood out that we never noticed before. A missing ceiling light or two in the room, lights that should be on lighting the staircases so you can see are either burned out or not turned on, housekeeping forgot to replace the floor shower towels for both rooms several times as well as forgot to take the trash out a couple times. This is the second trip we have been on where the hot tub was not working correctly. Not necessarily deal breakers for most, but it leads up to my next point. The island itself has become much busier. It seems west bay has become much more busy and catering more to the cruise ship passengers. I understand that it’s all about making money but we liked coming here for the quieter island that wasn’t fully exposed to tourism.

The Grand Roatan was purchased by another chain hotel group and is putting in a lot more rooms. While the construction noise is not horrible, you can still hammering throughout the day. I really don’t understand where all the extra people are going to go. The beach area is pretty small. I wouldn’t want to be packed in any tighter than we already are.

With that said, the Grand Roatan is still the nicest resort option in Roatan in my opinion. It’s just getting way too crowded for our tastes. I doubt we would ever return to the islan but if we did it would still probably be the Grand Roatan.

We spend 6 nights in the hotel and had a One Bedroom Ocean view Condo. Our room was located at the top floor of the main building with great view over the reef and on green trees between. Each morning of lot of tropical birds were around.
The room is very large, a fully equipped kitchen is there, which we did not use as the options for dinner a good and breakfast was included and served in the restaurant just meters from the beach. All was clean and made up daily, the hotel in general is maintained very well. The reef is just in front of the hotel and it is the most beautiful I have seen that close to a beach, just in snorkeling distance. You may spend hours and hours with snorkeling surrounded by the most colorful fish you can imagine, corals are still in good condition.
We had dinner 4 times in the restaurant of the hotel which always was a pleasure to get free sea food in different styles. If you don't like sea food there are several other options too. The beach is maintained very well, you always will find a place to relax and shadow under an umbrella. If you look around to other hotels on this beach you will realize that you are in the one and only paradise here. Other hotels rent the chairs for oaken liner day tourists, who flood the beach temporarily, the Grand Roatan does NOT. All facilities are for hotel guest ONLY and personal cares about that. Diving is available by another company but on the spot. I did 4 dives on different spots, but to be honest: the experience snorkeling the reef is even better.

Our staff is known for offering an excellent quality service and we are happy that you got to experience that in our facilities. Wow, just wow! This was our first time in Roatan and I am so thankful we chose the Grand Roatan. I was completely blown away by the level of service and accommodation the staff here provided. Firstly, we booked our airport transport with Belkis who made sure we had adequate space and a comfortable ride to the hotel, which is about 30 minutes from the airport. Check-in was a breeze and Britney and Belkis re-arranged our rooms so we could stay closer to our friends who were on the trip as well. Joshua took our bags on a golf cart all the way to the top of the terraced hill. We stayed in 107 which had the best views of the Ocean but wouldn't be good if you don't like walked uphill. Room was super clean and offered a beautiful outdoor shower. Beds and pillows were so so comfortable. AC was able to keep the room as cool as you liked! WIFI was also very fast and very reliable. The resort offered a buffet breakfast but in the current COVID situation allowed for people to order off of the menu, free of charge. Rene, Jimmy, Denis, Kevin Luisa took care of our breakfast and mimosas in the morning! Victor also took care of us at breakfast but also supplied us libations throughout the day at every location (pool, beach, hotub). Big thank you to Victor. I also wanted to give a shoutout to Denuar, he setup the Iron Shore patio for my wifes birthday, making it so special and a night to never forget. Denuar was so accommodating, he went out and bought balloons, a Roatan mug, chocolates and nuts! Thank you Denuar for all your accommodations throughout the week! More specifics on the resort. Some of the best snorkeling reef in Roatan is right in-front of the hotel. Pool is immaculate and hot tub can get HOT! They also have fantastic COVID policy, lots of hand sanitizer etc... I would recommend this place, I will be back!!

Overall the resort was beautiful. The suites on the hillside were nice, the grounds were beautiful and the staff at check in were great. The only issue we had was with the staff service at the restaurant/bar. They were not always attentive, one morning I had to ask for a glass of water five times. The breakfast was ok, it would be nice if they would add more items to their breakfast bar, it seemed to be the same thing over and over again. The food at lunch and dinner was great. We had drinks on the beach one day and the glasses were still there when we left after sunset. Every couple of nights we would get large ants in our room and they would come in and spray.
I would go back to this location for the snorkeling, you can walk right out into the water and swim to the reef. The did treat the owners differently than the guests.

The resort had many rooms facing the beach, my son and daughter in law had a beach view room, and we had a beach front room. Hotel picked up and delivered us back to the airport for free. Checking in and out was smooth and pain less. The rooms were clean and modern. Water coolers were in every room to deliver cold and hot drinking water. All staff wore masks. Hotel being at end of the beach was very secure, without vendors and other beach visitors wondering on its beach. Workers did excellent job of keeping place secure without noticable armed guards being in view. Joshua, the activity coordinator roams the beach, introduces himself and waits for you to tell him when and where you want to make plans, while having breakfast, sun bathing, etc. Then makes it all happen. No busy concierge that has a full voice mail box, no waiting in a lobby. He hooked us up with 35ft Boston Whaler for fishing, monkey/sloth tour, off site restaurant reservations, and even arranged for the restaurant to store, file, and cook the tuna we caught fishing. The on location West Bay divers were well equipped, had professional staff, and a modern assortment of dive boats. Checkout dives are performed on the hotel's beach with a dive on the reef directly in front of the hotel, which is also accessible for snorkeling. No charge for beach chair setup, just take care of my good buddy Carson. Lastly, the hotel will arrange for a covid test in your room, with quick results, and will print out the complete report for the airline return trip to us. I've dove Cayman, Barbados, Bonaire, and Belize, this was comparable at about 30% less. The hotel is expanding, my only comment, is that but for having West Bay divers on site, we would not have stayed there, hope they will give them a more prominent showroom, locker room, facility to operate from.

I visited Grand Roatan and it is by far, the best hotel in West Bay. Grand Roatan's staff were outstanding and they made me feel home, since the moment they picked you up at the airport or ferry station. Once you arrive to the hotel they take your temperature and you can see touchless hand sanitizer station throughout the hotel, the staff constantly cleans surfaces and they all wear masks.
Grand Roatan has state of the art decoration with spacious rooms and villas. It is located in a privileged side of West Bay as they are the only hotel that combines tropical forest, superb pristine beaches and coral reef. They have a jacuzzi and an ocean front infinity pool a perfect place to chill, watch the sunset, enjoy drinks, or have an amazing time with your friends or family. The water pressure was perfect and the bed was amazing. Iron Shore, the hotel's restaurant, had amazing food. Also they
Would I recommend this hotel? 100% you won't regret it.

We went 2 the grand Roatan's beach to snorkel on Valentine's Day. I had heard a lot about how good the snorkeling is right off the beach. It turned out to be of the most magical parts of my holiday in Roatan. I swam in the crystal clear shallow Waters off the coast with many other people. The snorkeling was good, but not as good as in the blue Channel or the aquarium. As it was evening, there were not too many other people in the water. As it started getting dark, only a few couples were left in the water, presumably hanging around until dinner. Just before dark, the scene totally changed. Tables were brought out and set up on the beach with big white tablecloths, candles and sparkling glasses. Fairy lights were draped around the scene and a live band started belting out old classics like Don't Worry Be Happy by Bob Marley. It was magic!

The bar tender was accommodating and made me papaya and pineapple juice but they couldn't seat us for valentimes dinner because people had booked in advance. So we went further down the beach for dinner to another nice place with a pier and live music. But I loved the atmosphere at the Grand Roatan.

We stayed at this beautiful resort for a week in May 2021. Our junior suite was spectacular. David, the owner has thought of everything when it comes to all the amenities in these rooms. From great A/C to a hairdryer and all the hot water you need. I wish I could walk the short walk from our room to the beach just one more time. You are walking through a beautiful garden the entire way. They give you your own metal water bottle when you check-in (no need for any plastic water bottles during your entire stay)! They keep purified water in your room to refill your bottle. The resort uses only paper straws to stay environmentally conscious. We scuba dive and the resort has a dive shop on site. Our divemaster, Edwin, was incredible. We saw a huge turtle and 4 big spotted rays among many fish, eels, lobster and so much more ...great dives with @West Bay Divers it was second to none. They have the second-largest barrier reef in the world. The water is as clear as you could ever imagine. The underwater photographer is incredibly talented. We bought the pics and have blown some up. They are top quality and very creative, The restaurant's head chef Ezra created an incredible meal for us. Thank you, Ezra! Every single person that worked there was helpful and friendly. I wish I could remember everyone's names. A special thank you to Jemmy, and every manager, and all of the amazing wait staff. A huge thank you to the owner, David!

We enjoyed our stay and the property was nice, in general. I was encouraged to stay at this property and that it is was worth the extra price compared to other places close by. The room rate was $800.00/night for an ocean view right in front of the beach (so I was told). There wasn't an ocean view at all. in speaking with other patrons, their rates were less than half of what I was charged for a similar room. It is a nice, clean place, but worth nowhere near what I was charged. I felt taken advantage of with what I was charged. Because of that, I'll probably stay somewhere else next time, even if it's not as nice.

Grand Roatan, a beautiful resort in a great location with absolutely spectacular people running the place. Brittany and Charlie greeted us with big smiles that instantly took our travel worries away. Throughout our trip everyone in the reception area were kind and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved the location of the hotel, which is nestled into the hill at the end of the beach and right in front of a great snorkeling spot. The hotel does a great job of keeping the tropical feel. The paths to the pool/beach are natural and you see a wide variety of wildlife. This may be an issue for some, we are middle aged and short for our weight and after first few times it was a welcomed walk after a meal and drinks. The pool area had all we needed and where we found ourselves most days with me in the sun and spouse in the shade. Thanks to Barney at west bay diver, located on the property, for helping us out with our masks so we could enjoy the beauty underwater, great guy. The restaurant (Separate review) has a wide variety and everything we had was delicious. Where the hotel really shines are the people that work so hard to make the stay so wonderful. The positivity and smiles of all was contagious and welcomed. Thank you so much, to all!! Obelinda, Louisa, Dennis, Gardan, Rene, Denward, Tevin and HOSINE thank you for the great conversations and taking care of us for 12 days. The great hospitality is what will bring us back!! Note: the hotel is under construction and at times you would hear the saw or hammer but to be honest wasn’t a big deal for us. The landscape is so lush and muffles a lot of the noise. Again thank you all. Please take care.
