We stayed here for 7 nights and couldn't have been happier. This is a very tight, family- like staff and the facilities are fabulous. Suites are palatial and the service and dining are wonderful. Highly recommended. Special thanks to William and Randy.

This resort is an absolute gem. Starting with the staff. Randy, Alejandra, William and Johnson are all superstars. Each of them was unfailingly kind, warm, funny, helpful, responsive and knowledgeable. They helped make each day fantastic. The facilities themselves were also stellar. Xbalanque has gorgeous buildings and grounds - impeccably designed and superbly maintained. The pictures barely do justice to their beauty. The location cannot be beat. Secluded enough to feel almost like a private island yet a mere 5 minutes away from all the action one could desire. And the restaurant. Lord. The restaurant. I should have gained a trillion pounds with all of the delicious, rich, decadent foods I ate at the Lotus but because everything was so fresh and green, without all the processing and preservatives, I actually lost a couple of pounds. What more could anyone want? I cannot recommend the Xbalanque highly enough and am truly, truly grateful that we chose it for our first trip to Roatan.

Just completed a 8-day stay at Xbalanque with my wife and two college-aged daughters. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. The location is excellent being in between West Bay and West End so you get the benefit of being away from the crowds but close enough (water taxi or walk) to the attractions at West Bay/West End. We stayed in the Sun suite and it was perfect for our party of four. It was great having a separate living area and kitchen. The view was outstanding. The hotel was well maintained and the staff was excellent. The food was great. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there and we felt there was enough variety where we didn’t get bored with the menu. We also ate at the restaurant next door and various other restaurants in West Best/West End which were an easy water taxi from the dock at Xbalanque. We used the boat at the hotel for snorkeling and fishing trips. They were excellent. The trips were probably more expensive than what you could get off site, but we liked that the boat was in excellent shape, well crewed, had it to ourselves, and was really convenient. Patsy, the owner, was very responsive to our questions and requests. One tip is to bring LOTS of bug spray. Not anything to do with the hotel, but the sand flies and mosquitos can do a number on you if you’re not prepared. We’ll definitely be back!

Fist thank you for our guests and thank you for writing us a great review. Sharing your experience with us is the best way to word out to other people. We appreciate it! We have tried everything we know to get rid of mosquitos. July and August are the worst months for these pests. February to June is very nice without many bugs. The problem with spraying and fumigating to heavily is that it kills the butterflies, hummingbirds and is very harmful to all living things. So it is hard to control. We try hard to make your stay the best and I am glad you enjoyed it. Please come back again and think about Feb to March. Patsy

Loved this resort! All the workers (restaurant, spa, front desk, drivers, nurse practitioner for the covid test) were pleasant and friendly. Everyone was accommodating and fun to be around. Everything at the resort (the food, drinks, water activities) made it hard to wander around the island. All the workers seemed to love their jobs and have great work ethic. They were always smiling and happy. RESORT: The rooms were really neat to see. Our party had four rooms. Two of the rooms were near the lobby and two were "up the mountain". Luckily we were provided golf carts to go to and from the rooms "up the mountain". Those two rooms were identical. They had high ceilings, a loft with very comfy bean bag-like cushions, fridge, microwave and basic kitchen utensils, flatware, and glasses. The bed was very comfortable. The other room with a King was set up a different way with a "sitting area" when you first walk in then the bedroom. This room basically had a small kitchen. The last room was a two bedroom suite(?). It was basically a house with a huge balcony. Amazing house.. I mean, room. The resort also had a couple kayaks and paddle boards. I never paddle boarded until this trip and I fell in love with it. Surprisingly we never had to wait to use the paddle boards. The water was so flat and clear. Paddle boarding was the best way to start the morning. FOOD: The food was surprisingly good. I can't say it was traditional Honduran food. I can say the Shrimp and Grits was so good--so creamy and buttery. Delicious. Pretty much can't go wrong with anything on the menu with the exception of the Avocado Toast. I would have preferred a hearty whole grain bread and avocado on both slices of toast. Everything we had on the menu was really good. DRINKS: Johnson, William, Mike, and Randy made amazing cocktails. I usually do not like cocktails and stick to beer or wine. They all made amazing drinks and did their best to tailor them to the customers satisfaction--they succeeded. The Coconut Slam was so refreshing and we had a great deal of mojitos. The guys did everything! I think there was one day Mike was doing everything.. cooking our meals and making the drinks! All of the guys were hard working, still with a smile on their faces and conversing with the guests. I wish there were more people in the world like everyone at the resort. SPA: The pedicurist did a great job! There was a slight language barrier which was easily resolved by using a translation app on the cell phone. She loves her job and her work proved it. The masseuse was amazing! She gave back to back massages and she kept the pressure consistent and strong. Absolutely amazing massage. The only downside to the spa area was the mosquitoes. Easily resolved with a ton of bug spray. I laughed when the pedicurist and masseuse would help swat or smush the mosquitoes to prevent them from biting us. I loved their happy energy. SHUTTLE: It was convenient the resort provided transportation to and from the airport. They also scheduled rides to the grocery store and even water ferries to other parts of the island. DOWNSIDES: Mosquitoes and the toilet paper situation. We only asked to have the room cleaned once and we think that's how the mosquitoes got in the room. We did not do proper research to find out mosquitoes love tourist blood. Toilet paper was disposed of in a trash bin (with a lid). Surprisingly it did not smell terribly.. or maybe we lucked out with what was on the TP before being thrown in the bin. OVERALL: The whole trip was so beautiful. I never thought about vacationing in Roatan and now I can't stop talking about going back! We only left the resort one evening for dinner. There was a 10 PM curfew so by the time we finished eating, we needed to head back to the resort. That was not a big deal because we really enjoyed the time there. The hot tub was more of a lukewarm tub and the pool temperature was great. The resort's venue and view was a postcard. The people working at the resort made the stay so much better. I highly recommend Xbalanque Resort. At the airport: We stopped in at ROATAN TEQUILA VILLA. Cesia and Jose were working the bar. They were also super nice and smiley. I haven't been around so many happy people working! I love it! They had great energy together and made very delicious drinks. Great sense of humor and easy to talk to. It's a small little bar with great service. Also recommend swinging by if you have time before your flight at RTB.

We appreciate your wonderful comments and that you took the time to share your thoughts. I am so very lucky to have a staff that does love their job and enjoy all the great people they get to meet. Xbalanque is build on a sand foundation , thus an aerobic septic system is the best application. It does not however like toilet paper. All of the island is on a septic system that does not allow tissue. I know it is annoying but we are saving the environment. Please tell all your friends about Roatan. It is a beautiful place with beautiful people. We are glad you chose Xbalanque for your vacation and hope you will come back soon. Patsy

From start to finish, Xbalanque made our vacation absolutely incredible. The attention to detail in the design of the resort was astounding. The pool areas and ocean views were out of the world. The photos don't to justice to how perfect that place is!! We dined out in different areas, and I can genuinely say I've never had better food than at Xbalanque. The owner, Patsy, makes every guest feel at home. Whether you're looking for a jungle adventure or snorkling/diving, Xbalanque is perfectly situated for all of it. I feel like we were able to adventure a lot with SUPing, kayaking, fishing and snorkeling and still felt incredibly relaxed the whole time. There's a reason this place is ranked the best!!
