The rooms are basic, but warm and comfortable. For breakfast we could help ourselves to cornflakes, croissants, a cheese selection, French bread with preserves and honey, as well as natural yogurt. Tea and coffee was also served. For our evening meals we didn't have a choice, but every meal was excellent. There was always a starter, main and dessert. Wine was available to buy for the table, but there isn't a bar in the hotel. There also isn't a lounge for guests, but there are plenty of nice bars within minutes of the hotel, so that wasn't a problem. Valerie herself was very accommodating and couldn't have been more helpful. We would recommend Hotel Valerie - we had a lovely stay there :)
We spent new year at the Hotel Valerie and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was somewhat old fashioned but warm and cosy with a lovely balcony and chairs to enjoy the afternoon sunshine and see the world go by. Breakfast was good value too with extra helpings if requested and a bottomless coffee pot! Ideally situated in Montgenevre with restaurants and cafés plus the ski slopes being just a stone's throw away. Friendly owners who made us very welcome, we shall be back!
Rented two room at Hotel Valerie during the middle of July 2017. The experience was hit-or-miss, as one of the rooms was quite lovely, with a well-maintained atmosphere; unfortunately the other room was dark, with poor lighting, threadbare sheets, and an extremely strange "electric" toilet. The staff was friendly, and are seeking to maintain a traditional appearance for the hotel, however it is suggested that they might seek to upgrade the basics (sheets, mattresses, and fixtures) in all rooms for the comfort of the guests.
Eleven of us checked in to this hotel, eleven blokes from our twenties to our fifties, the lady on reception booked us in quickly and efficiently, her English being much better than our French. This isn't a luxury hotel, but we were there to Ski during the day and enjoy the apres ski in the evening, so we used the hotel to sleep shower and have breakfast. For this purpose the hotel was ideal , close to the slopes, bars and restaurants. Normally I wouldn't write a review but I feel the owners have been much maligned in other reviews. The hotel is basic but so is the price, the lady we met could not be more accommodating, helping us on checkout so we could ski as long as possible on the Sunday- the boot room is very useful and warm. This hotel was great for our short stay the water was hot, the rooms comfortable and warm and I want to thank the owners for looking after us.…
The Hotel Valerie is a comfortable low budget hotel situated in the centre of Montgenevre with easy access to everything. The proprietor, Valerie Baume made every effort to ensure we were kept comfortable and well fed. The rooms are comfortable and warm (if you are from the UK remember to use the shutters!). Try and get a room on the south side. We had three excellent and interesting evening meals (eating out on the other nights) and breakfast was generous. Valerie had no problems catering with food allergies (nuts and milk). With regard to skiing the boot room is convenient and warm, and the room radiators are large enough to dry off your ski gear if required. The ESF centre and lifts are less than 50m walk. All in all a great value hotel in a great ski resort.
