We came home unsure what the Quinta was trying to be...a four star hotel, or a walking centre... We went in February to find some sun,and enjoyed some good walks in the levadas of Madeira. The vineyard Quinta is well positioned for this, and is also close to the west coast, but is not alone in this. We used one...

I was looking for a remote place. And this is what I found. No big tourism, nothing fancy. It's self catering (but with fresh bread rolls hanging on the door every morning and a starter kit in the kitchenette, you can also join the dinner) but very homely. Gorgeous little cottages in an old wine yard. Lovely hosts (thanks Yvonne)...

Friendly staff, all spoke English and quite a few German. Rooms and grounds are clean and well maintained. Dinners in the garden were excellent with great wine list. Pool was small, but large enough for some laps.

When we saw pictures of Quinta das Vinhas we booked a room immediately- and it is every bit as lovely in reality! The Quinta isn't directly located anywhere near the action which was what we intended, but mentioned here in case someone else doesn't. It commands a magnificent view instead over the gardens and surrounding vineyards down to the sea....

We stayed in this Quinta (main house) for a long weekend. The place itself, the location and the view was a very nice surprise from the moment we arrived. On one hand it is a historical and traditional Madeiran building, on other hand- very nicely and tastefully decorated. Our room had a view over the pool and the ocean. The...

Dear Guests, thank you for your positive review, we are very happy that you liked to be at the Quinta and yes, you are right, often here in Calheta we have sunshine. I want to answer to the points you critic. In our old house - the Mainhouse has more than 400 years - the thick walls do not allow...

Stay either in the main house or in one of the very well appointed s/c cottages in the vineyard. You can have dinner in the house if you want - good local food, simply cooked, but the service can be a little slow.

We had a wonderful cabin with fireplace and fully equipped (we got a starter kit with water, butter, jam, milk) kitchen. Buns were delivered every morning so we could take the breakfast on our terrasse with view to the ocean. A small supermarket is just outside of the resort. Drive to levadas is 20-45min (Santana, Pico Ruvio/Grande) and 5min to...

We stayed in the cabins at Quita ads Vinhas. It was perfect for us. Loved the peaceful feel. Beautiful countryside scenery vs the compact hotels and condos elsewhere. We could sit outside on grassy lawns around a small pool and see the stars and twinkling lights along the valley at night. Lovely. You will need a car. Internet is only...

We stayed in a cottage for a week in November 2015. This was a really great place to stay – so relaxing. The cottage was split level with the bed, bed side tables and a large chest of drawers (no wardrobe) on the mezzanine. On the ground floor was a spacious the bathroom, clothes hanging space under the stairs, kitchen...

We had a large room with doors onto the arcaded path to the pool. The atmosphere in the house was very relaxing and the staff very helpful and friendly. We would certainly return. The walking opportunities were excellent if you have a car. Bus services in this part of the island are hopeless. Some of the less well-known levadas and...
