If you want a place to relax and enjoy beautiful sunsets, come here! We stayed at Shinagawa for three nights at the end of a touring holiday around Sri Lanka. It really was the perfect place to relax before our long journey home. From checking in, all staff were friendly and eager to help whenever needed. Service here is excellent. All rooms are modern and have a balcony with a sea view. The sunsets were incredible! Food here was amongst the best from our trip worth a buffet service but also an extensive a la carte menu to purchase from if required. The hotel is situated on a beautiful, peaceful beach. The hotel strive to provide the best service and ensured a birthday celebration was special by making a cake and setting up a table by the beach. All staff we encountered provided excellent service but we must give a special thanks and mention to Darshana who went above and beyond. Nothing was too much trouble for him. This young man is an excellent ambassador for the hotel and is professional and friendly. He always met us with a smile and we enjoyed talking to him about his island. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country and when we return, we will be sure to stay at Shinagawa again. It was the perfect end to our trip.

Darshana is a very pleasant and well Mannered member of staff. He always greeted us with a smile and made sure all our needs were met. He really went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. A great member to the team.

We were fortunate enough to stay here for a couple of nights at the end of our Sri Lankan holiday. The staff at this hotel were unforgettable and so professional and personal at the same time. You are right on the beach and couldn’t get closer if you tried. What more could you ask for for a relaxing holiday? It was my partners birthday when we were there and they celebrated with us and made him a cake and decorated our room. It was also Sri Lankan new year during our stay and the hotel staff made an amazing effort to include hotel guests in the festivities with games and speciality food. If I were to return to Sri Lanka I would definitely be staying here again!

We finished our honeymoon here at shinagawa. What a wonderful place for some R+R. The location and views from the rooms were stunning, with beautiful sunsets seen from virtually every room. The pool and lounge area was popular and drinks and food were on offer throughout. The a la carte menu was my preferred choice although the evening buffets were varied and the fresh salads were my favourite. The staff were kind and attentive. The room was very nice with big spacious and comfey king size bed. The best part was the effort made for the Bhuddist New Years celebrations where all the staff put on a host of fun games with prizes on offer. We have had a fantastic time and would highly recommend staying here. Darshan and Suranga served us brilliantly all week.

The hotel was booked through secret escapes and was supposed to be an upgrade to the original hotel we were booked into. Overall a really nice hotel in a great location, however we didn't feel it is a 5 star hotel compared to others we have stayed in. No hotel information is available in the rooms which seemed odd. Evening meal menu was very limited, food was never hot and service in the restaurant was very slow.

Excellent food with a huge variety of western and Sri Lankan mix. Friendly and hospitable staff, indeed attentive and helpful to the guests . The hotel is located directly with the beach view in a calming environment of greenary where accommodation is provided with luxurious facilities. Hotel Shinagawa Beach is definitely a must go if one visits Sri Lanka, or especially the Down south of the country.

This hotel was a replacement at the end of our Secret Escapes tour of Sri Lanka. We spent 5 nights here and it is something of a mixed bag. The location right on a beautiful beach is incredible. It has a stunning swimming pool offering shade or sun at all times of the day. It is very isolated and quiet with just 28 rooms. The staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. On the flip side, it doesn’t rate as 5*. Probably just 4*. The food is little better than average. A bizarre selection of dishes and none of it served piping hot. The staff are a bit like having 11 strikers in a football team. A keen to drive the ball home but without the solidity to really pull it off - nothing that a bit of training couldn’t cure. Some guests have expressed concern about the vendors on the beach. These people do not hassle you and are lovely and pleasant and have a living to earn. Buy clothes or coconuts from them but don’t trust them for a tuk tuk or a tour. Outside the front gate is the house of a lovely guy and his family - Ashela - he can most certainly be trusted. Drinks are great value, the bar staff clearly the most experienced of the people on show and to give them their due as it is post pandemic perhaps many of them are new? During our visit we had 15 hour power cuts and a escalation of state of emergency and the staff did their very best to keep everyone comfortable.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights as part of an 11 night tour of Sri Lanka at the very end of our honeymoon. The view of the beach is stunning and some of the sunsets we saw were just unbelievable. The sea is a bit rough but many people swam early morning when it was calmer. The pool is also great. All food was lovely and we also went on a tour of a turtle hatchery and Madu river whilst there and went whale watching and saw a blue whale- incredible experience. The hotel could have been a little better with service as we had arranged breakfast bags to take on the whale watching but on the day there was no record of this- it didn't matter too much though, overall it was a great relaxing stay. As other people have stated there are some people who tend to approach you if you go on the beach but none of them were threatening in any way they're just trying to make a living- Sri Lanka has been hit hard by the pandemic financially, we just said no thank you and they left us completely, wasn't an issue at all.

Would recommend the hotel, amazing spot. The staff are all very helpful, friendly and attentive especially Akilu Ruwau. Would recommend to anyone visiting. No gym was a disappointment and lack of other facilities was a shame
