We went to Shinagawa for a mid week getaway for our 10th anniversary Loved every bit of it. The hotel followed all protocol for post covid travel, and you witness them cleaning the area ever so often even with the reduced number of guests.
We were very comfortable with the kids running around knowing the space was super clean and disinfected so often
The rooms are nice and spacious with beautiful views of the sea. The beach was ultra clean, however we avoided the beach due to rough seas.
The food was just amazing. Each item was one better than the next. We were so stuffed with some of the tastiest food. They had a good selection of food to select from and the portions was very generous.
The staff were ever so friendly and helpful.
We loved the whole ambience of the place and really enjoyed our stay.
Definitely hope to return back for a another getaway soon.

This hotel was small, friendly and is on one of the nicest, cleanest beaches I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. The rooms are all sea facing and have a great balcony to watch the sun going down. Breakfast was buffet style and there was plenty to choose from. Dinner was a set menu but had a good variety to suit everyone, was a lovely change as most other hotels we stayed at were buffet. There was a BBQ one night which was immense. The prawns were extra special. A special mention has to go to Sajith and Malinda who were so friendly and attentive throughout our stay. A must if you travel to Sri Lanka

We had an amazing stay at Shinagawa beach past weekend. The resort was stunning , facing the ocean . You can continuously hear the ocean and feel the ocean breeze from any nook or corner in the hotel . The interior was amazing . The rooms were of great quality . And the food was heavenly! My husband has a sea food allergy and they were extremely kind to substitute all sea food to chicken for him, which we thought was an amazingly kind and a sweet gesture. All the managers and staff were amazing as well! The reservation manager Mr Janaka, room a manger and food and beverage manager Mr Dasun and all the staff members were extremely accommodating, helpful, polite and made us feel right at home! The indoor pool over looking the ocean is perfect so you can still be in the pool and enjoy some sun without burning yourself in the sun. The views from the room are breathtaking and the breeze just had us captivated all weekend. I would rate shinagawa and it’s amazing managers and staff 10/10. So so worth it! Will definitely return again :)

I recommend this hotel for visit and spend mant time in this place. The biggest impression is the amazing view from the windows of the room. Palm trees, beach and sound of the Ocean. Nothing else you would need to feel like in paradise🌴🐬🌞. The view of the rocks is symilary of the Seychelles🏝. Rooms large and clean in a minimalist style. All the hotel staff very kind and helpful (especially thank you Madushani and Hemantha 🥰 is very nice and helpful, always smiling and likes children and cats 😀). Thank you to the chef for very good food. The menu is not too big, so do not throw away food like in large hotels. I spent a very nice 10 days here. I recommend this hotel 100% for people like quiet place.

We finished our honeymoon here at shinagawa. What a wonderful place for some R+R. The location and views from the rooms were stunning, with beautiful sunsets seen from virtually every room. The pool and lounge area was popular and drinks and food were on offer throughout. The a la carte menu was my preferred choice although the evening buffets were varied and the fresh salads were my favourite. The staff were kind and attentive. The room was very nice with big spacious and comfey king size bed. The best part was the effort made for the Bhuddist New Years celebrations where all the staff put on a host of fun games with prizes on offer. We have had a fantastic time and would highly recommend staying here. Darshan and Suranga served us brilliantly all week.

Hotel is okay, but it is not 5 star, maybe 4 at a push. Staff are helpful here but there are a lot of staff and you have to ask them 3 times for something, but they are friendly and willing to help.
Biggest issue here is the harassing men on the beach. My mother and I walked together on the beach and were harassed by 6 men who would not leave us alone, made the entire experience uncomfortable. For 2 nights of my stay I moved to Mirissa.
Considering there are no amenities at this hotel (no spa, no gym, and cannot walk on the beach as you are harassed), you would think that the security guards would stop creepy and annoying men watching through the fences surrounding the hotel … they don’t. The security men simply encourage them and chat with them. In fact, the security men made me feel quite unsafe, clearly not doing the job they are employed to do. Both security guards would literally stare at people, making others feel quite uncomfortable. 2 young guests even left 4 days early from this hotel and moved to a different hotel also.
When I arrived and realised there was no gym (as the website suggests that there is), I asked reception for advice on a nearby gym I could use. They told me to google it … very helpful.
Food here is good, although given the hotel is small, naturally the buffet is limited. Good is nice though, healthy options. Would like to see more nice fresh breads, rotti, hoppers etc.
Other things which need sorting: wardrobe doors are TERRIBLE, bathroom door does not stay open … bathroom gets steamy and the blinds will get mouldy. Fix the gym.

We stayed in this lovely hotel for 8 days and we didn’t want to go home again! Everything is simply amazing. It’s a small cozy hotel with 26 rooms. They are all quite big and we had the suite which were very big. The housekeepers are doing a great job keeping everything clean and with beautiful decorations on the beds. Also the bartenders are doing a great job making really tasty cocktails and they are so friendly. Actually all the staff are making you feel at home and giving you the best service ever. The food in the restaurant is also very tasty and delicious. They change each day between buffet and a la carte. Some days they even have live music or a DJ. The best part is the location: right on a beautiful beach with nice white sand and a more calm ocean. All the rooms have ocean views and you will see the most fantastic sun sets. I can highly recommend this lovely hotel if you are looking a relaxing stay with luxury and beautiful settings!

We stayed for a week and enjoyed every moment there. Excellent resort with wonderful foods.. Our room also with a stunning view of the ocean, Housekeeping guys are very busy every time to keep the rooms clean and tidy. People who working in the front office doing a great job and a very special thanks to them for the very attentive service by us. Restaurant and Bar also provided a good service and however we are still wonder why the person who is wearing a shirt with a long sleeves told us to take all our bills by ourselves to the reception and pay. We think he is the supervisor of the restaurant and we believe nobody will accept the service from that kind of a unprofessional way in a star class hotel.

We spend 6 days at the Shinagawa Beach by Asia Leisure. The rooms are very spacious and clean with a balcony and sea view (even from the bathroom!!). The Hotel staff was always very friendly and fulfilled every wish. food was quite good and beautifully served, but the entrees and salads are very small portions. Unlike other hotels in Sri Lanka, you are able to leave the hotel and find little shops on the street. The best feature of this hotel was definitely the beautiful beach.

Lovely medium sized hotel All rooms overlook the beach which is immediately to rear of hotel. Great swimming pool but water is very cold as its mostly covered over so not heated by the sun. Staff and service great, food excellent: buffet breakfast (though for 2 of the 3 days we had to get a take away breakfast due to early starts for trips), lunch was extra and a godd choice off the menu, Dinner was a set menu with 3-4 options for main and 2 options for desert. I chose a lamb shank for one meal but what they served were 2 lamb chops - mostly fat and bone with meat tough; stick with local food and you should be fine though. Rooms spacious, clean and comfortable with the cleaners doing some amazing bed art each day

Hey yes it is good to go anytime of the year since it is one of the best beach hotels you can find in Srilanka... Enjoy... Don’t forget to enjoy the sea bath....
Hi, Shinagawa is quite away from Colombo. We haven't used local transport, though. Food is very good, people are very friendly, though it is reported about crime level within Colombo & Kandy.
We normally use Tour Operator's services for accommodation and transportation, but otherwise you check on websites for alternatives.
There are more places to choose from in the Balapitiya area.
