We arrived after a 12 km hike on foot in 30 degrees heat and were welcomed with a cool glass of water by Carla, the life and soul of the place (though in her day job a college lecturer). Our room was very comfortable overlooking the Eugenian Hills. The place is very quiet (though the noise from the crickets is deafening). The breakfasts are wonderful where Carla brought out more and more fruit, avocado, cake , coffee. Best of all are the four course dinners which are served in an elegant restaurant (a separate business open to the public). The villa lies on top of a hill some 600 metres outside the little town of Arqua. It was such a pity the restaurant is closed on Mondays and we had to eat at the local pizzeria which was rather disappointing after the superb food served by la Poeta . We could have stayed much longer.…
Found this hidden gem on our way to Abruzzo. The location is beautiful and the rooms are very nice and clean. Breakfast also met our expectations and the service was perfect at all times. But it is the restaurant that really makes it worth a visit. We enjoyed an exclusive meal on the terrace outside and at a very reasonable price. We will certainly return to Villa del Poeta again.
This three star hotel is very nice placed. the location ist quiet, lots of green in a very nice garden. Good hotel if you are travelling with your dog. The rooms are quite different though. Some are very comfortable and big enough. Others are quite small.
Stayed here with a friend to attend an event held in the town. Cannot say better things about our welcome, the service and the assistance we experienced. Loved every moment. The food was wonderful. The beds were comfy and the rooms spacious enough for the two of us. Bellissimo.
I cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful hotel. I'm a solo mum travelling with a 7 year old boy, and this hotel felt like staying with family. They could not do enough for us: beautiful meals (and thank you for the bambini menu!), recommendations for adventures, and always a friendly and encouraging word despite my appalling Italian. This is a most spectacular part of Italy and our room had a view that brought a tear to my eye. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Grazie, Grazie, Grazie. I can only pray that I'm lucky enough to be back in the beautiful part of the world.
We chose Arqua Petrarca and the Villa del Poeta as part of an autumn holiday in the Veneto so that we could walk the extinct volcanoes of the gentle Euganean Hills and explore their forests and vineyards. The hotel proved an excellent and elegant base, most professionally fronted by Carla and Davide. The dinners we enjoyed there were superb. No need to venture elsewhere: we dined like kings but didn’t pay a king’s ransom. The menu is in Italian but Davide explained any items we didn’t recognise. Needless to say, given the location, the wines were superb too and were very reasonably priced. And so to bed. Our room was comfortable and traditionally furnished in Italian style with dark wood. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was modern and worked well. The hotel’s rural setting made for a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was a more modest affair than dinner but adequately met our needs. The only downside was internet access which, while efforts had clearly been made, didn’t reach our room on the first floor. Wifi did work in the entrance hall and on the front terrace, where we enjoyed tea in the sun each afternoon. We hadn’t known in advance but during our stay was one of the 2 weekends in October when Arqua Petrarca celebrates the Festa delle Giuggiole. Giuggiole are jujube fruit, at a first glance looking like olives and made into liqueurs and cakes. It proved to be the Sunday outing for families from many kilometres around and the medieval village was transformed. By evening all had departed and the village returned to its sleepy self. But not for long as the following afternoon a tornado swept across the north of Italy and in the Euganean Hills centuries old trees were turned upside down, vineyards were ripped up and roofs took flight. Had it happened the day before there would certainly have been fatalities among the crowds thronging the streets. Villa del Poeta lost some trees in the carpark and behind the hotel but no serious structural damage. The love the staff have for the Villa was evident in their reactions to their losses and they set to with a will to clear up. That evening, as the electricity supply had not yet been restored, Carla patiently set about arranging for the guests to move to other hotels that had not been in the tornado’s path. As we were leaving the next day anyway we decided to stay on in the Villa by candlelight and normality returned with the sun the next day. All in all, a stay we'll never forget.…
Captured by the curious name, reached in the sunset the area is amazing, quiet clean comfortable easy to reach with car, supported by a very special restourant , delicious food & wines like "crudo di Montagnana" a sort of special raw regional ham or "sorana" special fillet tender and crispy with amazing taste! a must for who visiting that area!

Absolutely delicious wedding reception held here. So much food unbelievable everything was scrumptious!! Carla and David were wonderful. They were there to make sure all our our needs were met. Hated to leave this lovely hotel and all it has to offer: Beautiful countryside views seen from every room, outstanding dinners, varied breakfasts, a quaint little town to explore, vineyard nearby and spa. Hope to return to this picturesque hotel! Christina G
I recently attended my American sister in-law's wedding here. She married an Italian who grew up nearby. The hotel is situated moderately high up, overlooking the wine region below. The veranda off the back of the hotel is simply perfect. First and foremost, the customer service at Villa del Poeta is world class. I have never received such care and consideration as I did here. Karla and David went out of their way to ensure all of the guests and wedding attendants had everything they could imagine. The food here is fabulous! We ate lunch one day and it was excellent. Breakfast is included (at least with ours) and it offered a great variety as far as Italian breakfasts can offer. Karla made us the best cups of coffee we had in our month-long trip to Europe. As for the wedding... It goes without saying that the staff bent over backwards to put on a smooth and successful event. The appetizers on the veranda were spectacular. Each of the many courses we had for dinner were extraordinary. As an American it was more food/courses than I am used to, but everything was so good I had to keep going... then the fruit and cake diaplay was gorgeous! The cake, though, was the best I have ever had. I cant even describe it but it was amazing. Now, as far as the rooms go, they are very standard, but all or almost all of them look out over the rolling hills. Incredible views! The standard rooms are fairly small but this isnt a place youll be spending time in your room. I woukd highly recommend this hotel, especially for attending a wedding or dining here.…
