I recently did a three week journey in Mongolia with friends which had four components: a stay at the Tuul river lodge, naadam activities, a week in Mongolia's far west, and finally, a week down in the Gobi. Our stay at Gobi erdene was part of the last, and erdene was the best of three sort of "upscale" ger camps one finds there. This camp has showers, regular bathrooms, and largely western style food--one might even say somewhat elevated versions of the latter. The clientele at all these Gobi ger camps is rather affluent, largely elderly. One member of our group, just coming off a rough week west in bayan-ulgii province, quipped that "this was not even visiting Mongolia." That's a little harsh. But you can call erdene "low impact mongolia," or "Mongolia light." Personally, I praise the establishment. You can still go hiking and give yourself challenging activities in the Gobi, don't worry. Thinking about the sauces in some of the dishes, I really have to praise the chef at this establishment. The food here is easily on a par with Tuushin (Premier) in UB. Nice work. Enjoy!

It was our first night in gers. The gers, the local equivalent of yurts, provided more comfort than the yurts I remember from Kyrgyzstan. The entire camp had about 30 units, and there were toilets and bathrooms open 24 hours a day. In the evening, you could order beer or something stronger at the bar. I remember breakfast very well. It was in the form of a self-service buffet with quite a large selection and very nice staff.

Unfortunately I stayed one night after a day of deluge lasting hours..... The next morning the drive to the dunes took little so the location is appreciable. I chose the wooden houses, mine was on two levels with a small living room and bathroom on the ground floor and above a room with beds. The rainwater had flooded the premises already on our arrival and we had to solicit the staff... the electrical system was a bit precarious and also with water infiltration... The beds not too comfortable, the bathroom small but working. In the central part of the structure a nice restaurant and a large covered terrace. The buffet dinner was good quality and with a decent assortment of dishes, breakfast also but overcrowded. Possibility of wifi connection in the restaurant only.

Stayed one night in one of the wooden chalets while on a tour. Reasonably spacious 2-bed room. Poorly maintained: window screens with large gaps or tears, shower door coming off the tracks and not closing well, resulting in flooding the floor. Despite the intense heat, no A/C or fans. No black out curtains. The bed was rock hard and uncomfortable. The only power outlet in the room was located up the wall near the entrance, and was very positional. No power outlets near the beds. Electricity was supposed to be 24 hours a day, but went out at night and there was no flashlight. No electric kettle. Wifi only in the restaurant, and only during certain hours. At least there was phone reception. Meals were ok.

Stayed here with a Gate 1 tour and stayed in the log cabins that had private bathrooms. Very basic accommodations but adequate. Electricity goes off sometime around 10 or 11PM until 6 or 7AM so bring a flashlight - thin towels and no washcloths- basic small shower with only lukewarm water at best so don’t expect a hot shower- very limited wifi only in the restaurant. Location was good and sand dunes are visible from the front of the camp.

We stayed there one night. We stayed in a log cabin equipped with a bathroom. The water was hot, the bedding comfortable. The meal is classic (for a tourist in Mongolia) the breakfast is a buffet, the restaurant can accommodate around a hundred people.

Gobi Erdene was the perfect stay in Gobi, we rented a yurt which was clean and cozy. They had a really nice and clean toilet and shower building with hot, scolding at certain times at day, water. And lots of it, we showered after literally two bus loads of Germans and still had warm water to spare 😂. Nice food and breakfast, great staff and an amazing view. If we ever roll trough this part of Gobi again we’ll be guaranteed to stay here again!

Nice, very popular field. It has traditional gers and small houses with bathrooms. We stayed in the latter which are well equipped. Even if they would need some intervention. To electrical sockets and shower doors first and foremost. There is often no electricity. To top up available for multiple guests in the restaurant. Often busy. The structure of the restaurant is beautiful (even if the benches are a little uncomfortable) with patio and terrace. Good restaurant service for both breakfast and other meals.

I had a nice stay at this camp (I stayed at the lodge and not in the ger). My lodge was in a quiet are and so I had a good sleep. The bed was in the upper level of the structure and the living are and the bathroom downstairs. The food provided for breakfast and dinner was very similar to the food received almost everywhere in Mongolia. They don't have several dishes.

We were in this ger camp in 2023 as part of a tour. It is a beautiful camp that has a large terrace and several covered seating areas outside. We also liked the gers with their simple wooden furniture. The sanitary facilities were modern and clean!

You have to fly south to Dalanzadgad, then drive 320 km for several hours. Worth it only if you want to visit the Hongor Sands. We booked transport and stay through our agent, Nomadic Journeys, in Ulan Bataar
