This was advertised as a half day trip but in fact it was from 9 to 5 , 2 hours each way by coach group limited to 30 some people at the hotel missed out because the trip was fully booked. The scenery on the journey was fantastic we also saw a Moose. The ice hotels we're amazing Ice hotel 30 melts away but ice hotel 365 is built in a concrete Frame and is there all Year Incredible experience beyond our expectations highly recommended.
Very interesting experience to sleep in the cold room. I am so thankful for the warm sleeping bag and beanie that was provided. Woke a few times during the night as my nose got cold. The warm room was great.
It is not worth staying there. Just go and see the sculptures and skip the hotel at all. Very unfriendly personal and absolutely no services. Restaurant closed, breakfast was ok but not worth the 1.000€ we pay for the night.
Do not miss the WILDERNESS DINNER. Our guide Martin went beyond expectations offering us an unforgettable journey through the local history, traditions, culture and people. On top of that, the food was fantastic and the nature incredible! This is a MUST when visiting the region and 5 starts to Martin who has been exceptional in every sense!
We stayed for two nights in Kiruna and couldn't go further without paying a visit to this awesome place. All the rooms have different themes and it's so bizarre how they made this. The staff is very nice and takes time to explain how all the pieces are made. Drinks in the bar are served in an ice glass and taste very good
If you get the chance you should do it! We stayed in a two bed Arctic Chalet for the first two nights of our stay. It was perfectly comfortable, nicely decorated and benefitting from a kitchenette (kettle and microwave) and a dining table and chairs. The shower room was spacious and the toiletries were gorgeous. It snowed the whole time we were there which meant that there was no aurora to see, but it was still a magical experience, deep, deep snow and the chance to trudge in sub-zero temperatures in huge snow boots and a suit which was basically a live-in sleeping bag! Food and drink in the hotel's various options is expensive in a typically Swedish way. In the Icehotel Restaurant, a small glass of wine comes in at around £10 and a main course will set you back over £20. Breakfast is by far and away the best meal of the day, there is a huge selection and everything is of a very high quality. On our last night we slept in an ice room. Doing this on the last night was a mistake, it makes much more sense to do it on the first night, for logistical reasons. The ice rooms can only be accessed after the day-visitors have left the site, at 1800 in the evening. We checked out of our warm accommodation at around 1100 and accessed our locker to store our luggage, however after that we found it quite difficult to fill the hours between warm-room-check-out and ice room bedtime. My advice would be to do the ice room on the first night on site. The locker area is where the toilets, sauna and showers can be accessed when staying in an ice room. This is by no means a luxurious experience, it's a bit like a youth hostel and any comfort must be sought elsewhere on the complex. Bedtime finally came, we collected our sleeping bags from reception and made our way to our room. I was concerned that I wouldn't sleep, that it would be too cold and I would end up on a bench in the locker room - however, it was one of the best night's sleep I have ever had. It was quiet, peaceful and I stayed toasty all night. Every member of staff we encountered was helpful, friendly and accommodating. The area around the Icehotel is best experienced by husky sled or on a snow mobile, so booking excursions is imperative. The hotel is super, but the Arctic is the real showstopper on this trip.…
I travelled to ICEHOTEL for a solo 2-day stay. The people, facilities, activities, and food were wonderful. And the location is even more beautiful than I imagined. During my stay, I participated in dog sledding (as a musher!) and a photography activity. Throughout, I felt safe and cared for. My short stay left me feeling peaceful and rejuvenated. I wish I had been able to stay longer!
Trying to keep this positive, the location is one of the most beautiful we have ever visited, the activities were superb, the night snowmobile tours x 2 and driving our own huskies in the woods (a brilliant seperate company). Guides were brilliant. Walking on the lake in total peace was just incredible. As for the hotel itself, it is a sprawling mess, but the art ice rooms are absolutely incredible. We chose not to sleep in a cold room so we had a warm room which was basic - bed is too soft to sleep in. Breakfast is basic. customer service at the hotel atrocious. We flew in, we paid for transfers and when we got our luggage there was no one there and for some reason their phone lines were not accepting calls from another mobile. There were no taxis. We ran for one were told it was impossible. We were abandoned but luckily a kind British couple had organised their own taxi in advance and took us the hotel. What was even worse was the response. We had not been told anything about the transfer and usually you would expect the hotel to be in the arrivals with a sign. They said this was because they never know!... sometimes a taxi sometimes ia bus... and on this occasion it was a bus. We went outside of course to look for any ice hotel transfer and there was no bus. The hotel tell us the bus driver had searched the departure hall, (which is tiny), and checked to make sure there was no one left. We had stood by the entrance the whole time so we know this was a blatant lie. We were on the list but that didn't seem to make any difference. It is not a normal Airport, if you are abandoned there, there is no way out. This completely ruined our trip due to the stress caused and upset. The reception staff just didn't get it. There was no proper apology, not even a glass of wine to say sorry. What they said was they would refund the cost of the transfer they never provided! At check out there was over 300 krona credit on my account to give back to me. They said they couldn't do this on my card. They have not responded to my emails and not given me the money back. It is only a small amount of money but it is the principle here. I still recommend staying at the hotel however because of everything else mentioned above.…
We were an inconvenience to the staff. Breakfast was supposed to be until 10. There were no pancakes, but the plate was filled up at 5 to 10. I went up to pick up a couple and the girl who had just brought them out told me I would have to eat quickly as they were closing at 10. I couldn’t think why they would bring out 50 pancakes just before they closed until I realised that they had been specially cooked then for the staff to eat!
We had fantastic experiences with our guides Mark during the Jukkasjärvi sauna ritual and Czarek at the Ice fishing adventure. Such nice, professional and accommodating guys. They really made a big difference for us on this trip!
