Well my first experience of this hotel was when I went to the bar 15 minutes before it closes after arriving after a long travel day there were 3 male bar staff there talking and bar was empty. As I approached one walked off then a second followed him and then the third one obviously thought I'll clear off too LOL. And that tells you everything doesn't it. I complained to reception but she had their backs too couldn't get access to a manager so there you go. Also the hotel is noisy at night corridors have hard floors and noise throughout the night makes sleeping impossible. The lifeguard / bar tender also tried to con my 14 year old lad into giving him his Liverpool top as he says he is hard up when we didn't he stopped talking to us in a strop for rest of the holiday. I sensed a lot of resentment towards us during the holiday they are obviously not happy in their jobs and It's your fault when you turn up there on holiday LOL.

Well, where do I start??? After booking this holiday at the start of this year and checking over the reviews on the build-up, I must be honest and say that I REALLY did not want to go on holiday! What a wonderful surprise we had when it was nowhere near as bad as previous reviewers had said. I will try to cover as much as possible in the review, but it does seem to me that some had some very high expectations. Please remember that Greece is, and always has been, about family, simplicity and culture. A 3* in Greece is not the same as a 3* in Spain. If you're looking for luxury with a mainly 'Brit' menu of burger and chips, and the comforts of home then go to a huge high rise in Spain, or pay that bit more for higher rated hotel. Also, don't forget that Greece is one of the poorer EU countries and relies heavily on tourism for income - of which they have missed out on for the past 2 years... Upon arrival (mid afternoon) we found the lobby area to be absolutely spotless and reception staff were very welcoming, they even got one of the members of staff to collect my case and show us to our room! They advised us that we had missed lunch, but snacks were available at the pool bar... Our room was on the level below receoption and had a Garden View. Yes, it was more than a touch dated, but immaculately clean and all in good working order - the air con was immense! We checked out the pool bar and met Erica, the main staff member on the bar and she was fabulous (no sighn of the lifeguard lurking)!!! The drinks were standard for an all inclusive in Greece - local beer (very nice), local spirits and even a few decent cocktails - I've been to some AI's in Europe where ALL cocktails are chargeable, so this was a nice change. The view from the pool bar was amazing! You could see the trees across the other side of the road and a fab view of the sea - really pretty. We saw no-one fighting for sunbeds, but did scope out the pool just across from the main one and spent most of our days there, with a fab group of people we met. It may have been a lot different during the peak period, but we had no issues at all. Yes, they do need to invest in some new loungers, but hopefully when things are back up and running again some investment will be made. Not as tragic as it has been made out to be! There are a lot of steps from the pool to the bar and all around the hotel, so if you have any small children or have any mobility issues this is not the hotel for you! The evening bar area was again very clean and well maintained, the staff here were also very nice and always had a smile. By day 2 they already knew our order. Only had entertainment 3 evenings, but in my eperience pretty standard for Greece. Was good when it was on though. All inclusive finishes at 11pm, and unless the entertainment is on the bar doesn't stay open even if you pay, so this was a shame. Now, on to the food... The restaurant was immaculate! The salad bar was great! Large selection and all fresh and lovely. Same goes for the dessert menu, it's not really my thing, but I am assured by my partner that there was a huge choice and everything he tried was lovely. The main courses were a bit samey, but everything was well cooked! The only critism I have is that on occasion the chef needs to lay off the salt - but that's my pallette I guess, as my other half said it was fine - he's a very fussy eater and he found something every day that we ate at the hotel. We generally go all inclusive, but always go out for a couple of meals during our stay wherever we go. Now the biggest downfall, and not the fault of the hotel at all, but I feel I should mention this to anyone thinking of going to Dassia. This resort is described as the 'right side of lively', this is NOT true! There are about 3 bars on the main section of road and none of them had much atmosphere - with the exception of Vasilis Place, which has only just opened - we love Maria! The Woodpecker was nice, but very overpriced for cocktails and Icannot remember the names of any others. However, if you walk down the back, all the way to the end, there is the Edem and Blue Bay, which I understand open till around 4 or 5am. We got the bus into Ipsos one night and it was €1.70 each, it's a much better night out. However, the beach at Dassia is nicer and if you want the best of both worlds I would say stay in Dassia and drink in Ipsos. Would I recommend this hotel? Yes, to the right people - who want a quiet holiday with no mobility issues and not ridiculously high expectations. Would I come back here again? probably not, but we're not normally the kind of people who go to the same destination twice... so that's not unusual. I wish all at Magna Graecia the best! Thank you for a lovely holiday and for making us feel so welcome!

Let’s call a spade a spade. Hotel is outdated, plenty of wear and tear everywhere, decor is old and grubby. Food was palatable but wasn’t great. I’m not going to write a big speech because if you’re reading these reviews, you’re either questioning this place or had a bad experience, like me. I don’t think I’ll be back to visit the hotel or the bed bugs but I wish you all the best in the future.

Stayed at this hotel bet 19 to 26 Sept 2022 having booked to stay at this hotel pre-covid. The Good... The staff on reception, main and pool bar staff were always welcoming and had smiles on their faces. My wife at the time of this holiday had an issue with her leg and to get to our original allocated room would mean using a lot of stairs. Reception staff re-allocated us a new room to us to allow easier access. They even allowed us to move to different room after one night to use a walk-in shower in that room....Thankyou to all of them on reception. No issues with sunbeds as not allowed to put towels down to 10 am. Mattresses are bit tired but comfortable. The Bad.... The food choice is not very good. It appears that the chef doesn't have much of an imagination when it comes to salads. There only seems to be changes in the coleslaw mixtures and no cold meats to accompany the salad. The evening meals even though palatable seemed to always be covered in a mustard sauce of some type. No TUI rep on sight even though sent text to say no rep on sight ring this number if you need assistance. It would appear that from the moment you stepped on the coach at the airport and allocated your stop number you felt abandoned till you got back to the airport where allocated your check in desk number. Not very good for a world renowned travel company. The biggest bad is the DRUNK lifeguard who is responsible for your safety at the pool. He was reported by six different holidaymakers to reception and was even filmed weaving along the footpath to the pool and then tumbling over trying to tidy up the sun loungers. From his lookout position he could not see into the children's pool because of the smoked screen surround and no immediate response to the main pool which is 10 feet deep at one end. I doubt if anything will be done until there is a death in the pool. Not even a first aid kit or defibrillator to hand by his chair. When people were in the pool he was no where to be seen, and when empty sat on his chair staring at his phone. The Ugly....The whole hotel needs a massive investment by the management and general tidy. Never saw any management walking around checking on things, except for restaurant lady helping her waiting staff. Corfu is a brilliant island to visit with views and scenery but would not use this hotel again. Travelling into Corfu Town is very easy from outside the hotel. Bus Number 7 and it costs 10 euros return for two people.

We had a lovely room with a big balcony with a lovely sea view on the top level of the hotel. We was extremely happy with this room however we kept noticing ants coming in through a hole in the bedroom door. We had to sort this ourself as there was nothing the staff could do other than move us room but as said before we was happy with the location of this room. The location of the actual hotel however was a bit poor. The beach nearby couldn’t be used as it was all private sun beds for the hotel located on the beach. The buses that run to Ipsos was always packed and mainly drove straight past as there wasn’t enough room. There was some nice food places nearby and we went to Red Penguin a few nights for a few drinks and food. The staff here was lovely and the food was always great. The food at the hotel was quite basic compared to other all inclusive hotels I have been to and the food is not cooked in front of you which I didn’t like. There are also lots of added extras like wifi, safe and drinks after 11pm. We was not informed of these added extras and felt that we shouldn’t have to pay for drinks after 11. They also don’t allow you to have bottled water from the bar or refill bottles in the restaurant. We went and bought some bottles from the supermarket nearby and put them in the fridge in the room. We went to Aqualand which was probably the best part of the holiday and I would say it is definitely worth it and there’s never long queues for the slides. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful especially those at reception. All in all, it was a nice hotel and staff were friendly but we don’t feel that we our moneys worth for what we spent for the holiday.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad you enjoyed your holiday with us despite the fact that some of your expectations were not met. Concerning the beach that you mentioned, please note that there is a beach next to Ikos hotel and also two more beaches near the hotel that everybody can use. You should have asked the reception for more information. Buses to Ipsos always stop at the bus stop right outside the hotel as long as you are looking for the right number of bus.The restaurant does not offer live cooking as it would be impossible to cater for big numbers of guests. The all inclusive package is thoroughly explained to Travel agency Partners and we regret the fact that you were not properly informed. Thank you for praising our staff and hope to have you with us again sometime.

I am going to try and be as fair with this review as possible as our expectations were different, but that is at no fault of the staff here, who work very hard. Originally, when we booked this holiday in 2019, we booked it for just the two of us for our honeymoon. We paid £3,000 for a luxury 10 night stay in an adults only hotel in Nissaki. When lockdown hit, our wedding got postponed and we decided to have a baby. This meant things had changed slightly, as we now wanted to take our 1 year old with us, so asked TUI to swap us to a different hotel. They were more than accommodating, we were happy to pay extra for a good quality but they explained 4 star family hotels were harder to find in Greece, which we were more than expecting. We had agreed to take my mother in law with us for childcare so we paid the extra to add her onto the package, We were quite satisfied that the hotel would be very different to what we had originally booked but explicitly said that we needed it to be child friendly and pram accessible. Our understanding when we booked the holiday was that we had paid for an all inclusive resort with a kid's club and a family feel. We made it clear that we would love to go to a place where everything we could possibly need was on the resort and when the rep helped us choose Magna Graecia, we were more than pleased. However, it was not at all what we expected. There was no kid's club and the receptionist told us that the kid's club had not been running for over two years. The room was still there with the sign up, but as you will see from the photos, it is now a storage room for bar products. It was not at all pram accessible, there were plenty of stairs everywhere. The stairs to get from the hotel to the pool bar and pool are pictured. There were 2 very small lifts but only 1 worked. As for the kid's pool, it was a small sectioned part of the larger pool with small, rickety steps into the water. It was slightly shallower than the bigger pool. There were no inflatables or a lot of room to play and swim. It was also impossible to get a sunbed around the pool as there were only about 40 sunbeds in a hotel with a capacity for over 200 people. We noticed people would put their towels on the sunbeds in the morning when the pool opened to save themselves a spot and then leave for a few hours to do other things, which was very frustrating but not something the staff could help. The rooms were very dated, but comfortable and clean. We had an issue on the first night with the air con which took a while to be sorted. On the TUI website, it also promises a spa. This turned out to be one room owned by a lovely lady called Maria who offered different massages at good prices. She was very talented and it was a lovely, atmospheric room. Unfortunately though, we were led to believe by our rep that it would be a proper spa and had hoped to get couples massages etc as it was our honeymoon. We went all inclusive. Our previous experiences of all inclusive on a TUI holiday led us to believe that there would be substantial food available for most of the day and evening, especially as it was a family hotel and kids like to snack! However, food was only served in 2 hour buffet slots throughout the day; breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was pretty average and there was a large selection. The staff were attentive and kind, very helpful and brilliant with our little boy, which can actually be said for all the staff at this hotel. There was also a small pool bar, which you could get ice cream from and small slices of madeira or marble cake if you had missed the buffet or were hungry again. There was a mini mart on the resort, which was pleasant and stocked any snacks we may need. There was also a small supermarket located a 3 minute walk down the hill from the hotel, so we managed to keep stocked up on supplies. We spent a lot more money than we had expected to on an all inclusive holiday! It's worth saying that although the hotel was more run down and basic than what we had expected, the staff were brilliant. They were very helpful, got us extra pillows, an iron, free wifi, a spare room key etc. Nothing was too much for them and we were always met with a smile. As for the location of the hotel, it was very close to a small and intimate beach where we spent most of our time. We left the hotel most days as there was no entertainment at the hotel. The only thing to do was sunbathe at the pool, if you could get a bed or to have a massage with Maria, which was booked in advance. There was a small "games room", which consisted of a pool table, football table and kids claw machine in the back corner of the bar, all of which you had to pay a euro for. For 3 evenings during the week, there was live music, no stage though, so just the band/singer in the small pool bar and no room really for dancing. Luckily, reception had a lot of information about things to do around the island, and organised us taxis into the old town, Aqualand and the main strip in Ipsos. It was a really lovely place with some hidden gems and small businesses trying their best in a town that had been abandoned after COVID, a lot of places were boarded up, overgrown and dishevelled. Obviously all of the money goes into the mainland and this lovely bit of town has been left behind. I must address something that happened on our very last evening there. My husband and I walked down to the pizza restaurant at the bottom of the hill to pick up a takeaway. My mother in law was in her bedroom with our 1 year old on the bed. She was very shaken when we returned as a man had silently and slowly entered the room with another dark figure and stopped when he saw her feet on the bed from around the corner. He said to whoever was with him "not this one, there is someone on the bed". She went out seconds later and the fire escape at the end of the hall had been busted open. The fire escape had a set of steps that led down to the car park. She couldn't see anybody around so went back in and locked her door. When we got back, my husband reported this to reception and asked them to check the security. They said they would but they said it was probably someone just going into the wrong room. We don't believe it was because of how slowly and quietly they entered, and the escape through the fire door. There was a lack of security at the hotel, we got given purple wristbands when we arrived but nobody checked them on coming back into the building and it was fairly accessible and open for just anybody to walk in. We dread to think what could have happened. The next morning, my husband asked to speak to someone before we left to see if security had been checked to check there weren't strangers walking around a building with children sleeping there and they said this happened often and it was a case of mistaken room. They had not checked the security. We paid just over £5,000 in total for a 10 day, all inclusive holiday for 3 adults and 1 infant. This hotel and its facilities was not up to a standard that suited this price. It is really unfortunate as it could be a real success, but the receptionist said they had not had a TUI rep visit them since before COVID and were very apologetic for the false information we had been told by the representative who booked for us. There were information guides there from other travel companies, like JET2 holidays etc. but nothing from TUI, despite there being quite a few guests there booked through TUI. We did have a lovely time and make memories on our honeymoon/first family holiday, and because there were 3 adults, we managed to keep our little one entertained and cope with the lack of pram access. However, I can see it being more difficult for families without this help. I wish I could leave a better review but this was our experience and I feel young families should be warned.

Thank you for your review and remarks. In response we would like to say that the amount of money paid to your travel agency includes two way fares for three adults and the agency's comission. When you see the raw amount paid for the hotel for three adults and two rooms for ten days you might realise it was good value for money. There are three meals per day (7am to 10am - 12:30 to 14:00 and 18:30 to 21:00) that is eight hours per day and snacks from 10am to 12:00 and 16:00 to 18:00. That is, almost all day long so we do not understand your surprise. The children's pool is 60,cm deep nothing to do with the adults' pool depth and inflatables are available at the mini store. Sunbeds cannot be available for all our guests. We do not expect all our guests to be spending the entire day at the pool. Some go to the beach and some on excursions. We regret that you were misinformed about pram accesibility but we do not advertise otherwise. As for the incident of someone entering the room, surely that would have been maintenance staff who got into the wrong room and we must apologise for that inconvenience. It is true that the kid's club was closed as the number of children in the hotel does not justify its operation but then again it is only for children above four years old while your child was only one year old. We do thank you for appreciating our staff and regret your expectations were not met but that should not diminish what the hotel has to offer.

We were relocated here as Golden mare, Barbatti has somehow over booked us so the ruined trip isn't the Magnas fault but we were told it was a 4 star which it isn't. The food was average but more aimed towards the Europeans. The staff at reception were great but the bar staff couldn't smile at all, I understand they are busy and it's been a long season but to sit behind the pool bar smoking isn't a good impression. The cleaners were good but the rooms very basic, thr bathrooms are dated...80s. We felt very uncomfortable and itchy in the beds. The lifeguard on duty was drunk and falling over so the next day there wasnt one, the pool ranges from 1m to 3m deep. Again you have to rush for beds when the pool opens 10am till 7pm. The air con is basic but it's free, the WiFi was decent. Entertainment is once a week, a singer. This could be more earlier in the season. Dassia is tired and offers very little, the beach is over shadowed by two hotels who seem to own the beach so you can't rent or book their facilities etc, so the beach on offer to non guests is messy and very very small. Dassia seems very run down and offers little, guests would jump on a bus and visit other resorts 30 minutes away.... be easier staying there! A taxi to the old town is 60 euro round trip. There wasn't enough cleaning around the bar areas during the day, we used the bins provided all 2 of them but others didn't. Might seem a bit harsh of a review as it's not the Magnas fault as our trip was changed and totally relocated from Barbatti to Dassia but we were told this was 4 star which it clearly isn't, this must be a very old rating that has not been reviewed. Dassia also isn't up to much as an area, why stay there to travel elsewhere daily! Positives Bus stop outside, if you can make sense of it Shop on site Reception staff helpful

We regret your expectations were not met and the fact that you had to be transferred to a different destination obviously influenced your whole experience. Of course since you did not stay at Golden Mare you cannot have a reference for comparison. End of season is nearing so places do not seem so lively, even in Barbati. In any case thank you for sharing your impressions.

First experience wasnt great as we where taken to the wrong room ,but after trudging up a bit of a hill at 11pm we was happy with what we got and the room had a sea view (which id paid for ) it was clean and spacious and had great air con and nice modern walk in shower The main pool got busy but quickly we found the smaller pool was quieter and we really our enjoyed our time there Drinkswhere what you expected small selection of local beer and spirits the soft drinks could of done to be in the bigger cups like the beer You could pay for more premium cocktails We loved the food always found something we liked and the huge pots of greek salad and slabs of feta was so good staff in the restaurant where friendly but a bit eager to take your plate away but it was always clean and tidy Some live music some nights but we did miss greek night as we arived Late fri and left early friday Special mention to the young girl at the pool bar who was so friendly and my husband joked with her over the pistachio ice cream as he never said it properly so funny I wouldnt recommend this hotel if you cant do steps or hills but if you just want a relaxing holiday with no activities or people yelling zumba zumba this is the place and expect 3 star not 5 star for the price Great thats the bus stops outside hotel for corfu town and ipsos The beach at Dassia is rather spoilt due the the huge ikos across the road who own most the beach but you get the same sun/sea as them for half the price We really loved our holiday so thank you everyone at the magna gracia

Me and my boyfriend have just stayed 7 nights at this hotel, I was a little nervous after reading so many different reviews. My experience was great, food was lovely pool area and drinks area was also very nice and also clean! The rooms look a little outdated but I think that’s just corfu for you! The main thing is they were clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the staff are also all lovely, there is plenty of shops at the bottom of the hotel as well as one inside. We liked that there was a bus stop right at the bottom of the hotel that would take us into corfu old town or the Ipsos town which has a great night life! The all inclusive options were also good there was a choice of beer, cocktails and wines. For our first holiday together I’m glad we choose this hotel!
