This hotel is nestled into the corner of the picturesque [Lake] Oppstrynsvatn and is a stone's throw from Jostedalsbreen National Park. The room at the hotel was almost unnecessary as I would've been quite content laying out on the manicured lawn overlooking the lake. The hotel itself is beautiful, though we stayed in the annex off to the side of...

We had a four night stay at Hjelle Hotel and it was excellent in every way. Warm welcome by host Lorentz, always preparered to give advice on what to do. He does his work with passion! Excellent room with balcony with a view on Stryn lake. Breakfast and dinner was excellent quality 4 days in a row!

Great view, great food. The service is like a 5 star with friendly staff. The view on the lake from the dinning room is like a dream. View on the glacier from your bedroom. It's possible to rent a boat for a trip on the lake. Old fashion decoration but all in style.

My wife and I spent two nights at this hotel. It was the fourth leg of a self-arranged fly drive tour of southern and mid-Norway. Check-in was friendly and informal. It was refreshing to see the staff in traditional dress. There was ample parking in front and to the side of the hotel. The main building is 120 years old...

Location: The location is superb! The hotel stands among these beautiful mountains and right next to Oppstrynsvatnet lake which is a really beautiful lake. The water in the lake is so crystal clear with turquoise color in the summer weather. Even when it rained, we can still see the view of the fog above the water with the mountains in...

One of the best hotels we ever visited. Nice rooms and top service from Laurenz and his team. The food was delicious, breakfast with plenty choice. Dinner is really good, you can choice between fish or meat, but both are equally delicious. So a small hotel with nice rooms, excellent service and delicious food, if you want to stay in...

This hotel reminds you of visiting someone's Norwegian grandmother. Some of rooms feel like they haven't changed in decades. Was perfect for an overnight, wouldn't stay much longer as the spot is very sleepy, even though gorgeous. Beautiful lake setting in middle of nowhere. Really not even a town, just this cute old, family run hotel. Dinner was very tasty...

I'm sitting looking out of our bedroom window, as the last of the sun catches the snow-capped mountains. The turquoise lake below shimmers at the edge of the garden lawn. England were dumped out of the Euros yesterday by Iceland (the hotel owner even apologised) but I don't care. This is paradise and I have it for another two days,...
