We really enjoyed this place, we were staying for 2 nights, and booked one room in the main building and a triple room (junior suite) also in the main building. this place is amazing, located in front of a lake, with beatiful views. the place is so calm and quiet, which is perfect with the view. we had breakfast and dinner, which both were really good. there is a gift shop and small caffe in the same place, which worth a visit. the service is stunning, everyone is so nice, helpful and caring. really - this is definetely the best place we have stayed during our trip to Norway.

We stayed at the annex rooms which were very small, the shower is tiny and the curtain (which, to me personally, is disgusting in itself) didn't do much to prevent flooding the bathroom. However, the front view is breathtaking, and the setting serene and relaxing. We elected to have a three course dinner on site for a fixed price (about $50 per person) and didn't regret it. It was excellent, as was the breakfast that was included in the price of the room.

Hjelle is even more stunning than the photos suggest. This little hotel has a really wonderful location on a lake with fabulous views out to the snow capped mountains on the other side of the shore. There are lots of walks in the area to occupy you for a few days and Geiranger is also an hour's drive away. We booked a room in the annexe and one in the main building. The annexe room is ground level, very basic, small and somewhat tired looking, but opens into a little patio and a beautiful lawn with the views described above. The room in the main building required navigating several stairs, had no view, but was beautifully appointed. In retrospect, I'd take the main hotel building. Breakfast was excellent and free coffee is always available. We didn't eat dinner at the restaurant because we had some vegetarians in our group but the town of Stryn about 20 mins drive away has lots of dining options.

This hotel is in a very small village at the base of a fjord. The surroundings are breathtaking and the hotel is incredibly romantic. We had a wonderful, clean room with a private bath. Dinner was served in the main house in the evening and breakfast in the morning.

We reserved Ida’s Salong and two single annex rooms for our family. We all loved our overnight stay in Hjelle. The staff was very helpful and informative. We enjoyed the booklet with suggested hikes and went to the waterfall hike after arriving and a suggested hike the next day, for which the guide was very useful. Ida’s room was spacious, with windows on three sides and views of the fjord. We loved the sitting area and history of the room. Our adult children also liked the annex rooms, which face the fjord. The 3 course dinner at the hotel was enjoyed by all along with the breakfast buffet. My son loves physical fitness and the facility in town was surprisingly, his favorite of our Scandinavian vacation. Although he paid a small sum, the key was conveniently available to him for his early morning workout. Highly recommend a trip to Hjelle.
