We received a nice room but the breakfast was poor. I couldnt find anything suitable to eat and was hungry after leaving the hotel. There are not very many hotels in the area so the trip operators had no choice.

The “hotel” or imitation of a hotel was probably before a guest house before because it’s build in different parts with some platforms between the rooms. The rooms include a basic furniture, that need a immediate renovation. This hotel is without elevator, therefore if you have a heavy suitcase and you didn’t pay an extra price for a room in the same level of the entry... you are in a big problem.... The room is clean and the food is ok, but to cary a suitcase on upper floor or lower floor is a nightmare. sorry dear management of this hotel but we are in 2019...maybe you heard about elevator / lift.

Stryn Hotel is one of the biggest hotels in this area. This is definitely not a guesthouse. To be clear, guesthouse means you are inviting people home to your house. Stryn Hotel has been runned for over 30 years of experience. We accomodates 71 rooms within 3 floors, some of them are newly renovated. If you're not satisfied with the room you have booked, you can always ask to upgrade your room. 99,9 of our guest doesn't seem to share your opinion about this >nightmare< to walk 10 small steps up or down to the floors. You can always ask reception if you need any help.

We stayed at Stryn Hotel for a couple of nights in September 2018. Check in was fast when we came there in the afternoon and we got room 208. There did not seem to be that many guests in the hotel and I guess September is not the peak season. The room was standard at first sight with a brownish carpet, light yellow walls and two single beds put together. We had a room on the “wrong” side of the building so instead of getting a river view, we were looking straight into a big warehouse and parking lot. The room also contained a comfortable chair and a table, a desk and a chair and a flat screen TV on the wall. The internet was free and worked without any issues. The beds were comfortable but a bit on the soft side (even for me and I like soft beds). The bathroom was new with white and dark tiles and a great shower corner. But there were no amenities apart from a soap dispenser. For some reason there is always limited space to hang and put stuff in hotel bathrooms – I’m not sure why they don’t take that into the planning. The hairdryer in the bathroom did not seem to function well. Hotel breakfast was adequate with good fresh baked bread with various spread. There was also some cereal, fruit and some egg option. The location of the hotel is very good as you only have to walk for a couple of minutes to get to the city center. At 1600 Kroner per night (195 UD) I still find it a bit expensive as this was not an epic room. All in all, I would probably try another place if I go to Stryn again. But there are really not that many alternatives.

To start with the conclusion, we would visit Stryn Hotel again very soon if an opportunity pops up. We arrived the hotel early afternoon and was welcomed by a friendly hostess behind reception. I called only a few hours before arrival asking for room availability for 3p, the hotel were fully booked but with a positive attitude they managed to arrange it anyway by setting up an extra bed in a small double room. Worked out great for us for 1n. We had dinner and breakfast buffet and it tasted well, some really good. Most of the food was made by the hotel I believe. Both buffets could contain more seafood. All in all a great experience and wonderful friendly staff!
