We stayed here in May 2015, towards the tail end of our 3 week trip. We absolutely loved the peace and quiet, but more importantly, the owners were so accommodating, kind and made us feel so welcome. The food was delicious (and the cook shared her recipes!), the room was extremely clean, and we wished we could have stayed longer.... More

I was visitng Copey de Dota, the small town 800 meters down the mountain from El Toucanet, so I was not there as a bird-watcher. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed comfortable. The morning shower was warm enough to gewt me going in the cool morning air. The breakfast, provided by exceptional helpful staff, was excellent and its... More

We stayed for two nights. The hotel is a quiet and nice place. We loved the exceptionally helpful staff. They made early departure, midday snack food and coffee possible. I personally had a wonderful bird watching morning tour with the owner where we spotted two queztal. It is a great place.

Spent 3 nights here. Staff is wonderful. Gary, the owner, leads informal birdwatching walks from the lodge every morning before breakfast. Seems like we saw 30 species each of the mornings we went out. 2nd day we got to see our first Resplendent Quetzal which made the day. Ate breakfast and dinner at the lodge, food was lovely. Stayed in... More

We stayed for two nights here and can happily recommend it. The Lodge is in a beautiful part of the country and the rooms have balconies with nice views. You also get hummingbirds constantly visiting the feeders outside the reception / dining area in the lodge, and there are many other birds in the grounds. The rooms are reasonably spacious... More

We spend two nights here and we enjoyed the relaxing area. The room has a nice balcony with wonderful views. The meals are very good; especially the grilled trout for dinner. In the morning we had good luck to see a Quetzal bird during the morning birdwatching hike. The hike starts at 06.30 h and takes 2 hours. Then we... More

We love staying in small lodges owned and operated by families and this is just what El Toucanet Lodge is! We were in Cabin 3 with a comfy bed and a great deck with a view. WiFi was available in the reception/dining/bar area. Meals were delicious, especially the cannelloni. We were there 3 nights while we searched for the Resplendent... More

Our local guides suggested spending time at El Toucanet where we hoped to see Resplendent Quetzals, and that was an outstanding addition to our itinerary. All three nights there were made special by the family oriented owners and their sons. The lodge is in a rural setting in a beautiful mountainous location 8 km down a gravel road off Hgy... More
