This was an amazing experience from the moment we drove up to the beautifully lit chateau, and were met in the drive. Our bags were carried up for us to a beautifully and historically appointed, comfortable and spacious room. Dinner was not served at the restaurant that evening, and we had purchased some fruit, cheese and wine. The owner graciously offered to set a table for us in the breakfast room, with beautiful dishes and wine glasses and an opener. It was most romantic! It was difficult to make choices at breakfast, with so many fresh and delicious options! The grounds are gorgeous, and we enjoyed walking outside, seeing the statue and the beautiful little hidden spots there. It is not often that we get to stay somewhere that actually has a moat surrounding it! The owners are approachable, speak English, are friendly and go out of their way to accommodate. They could not have been any more hospitable. The history of this home is incredible, and the grandmother of the owner was discussed at our tour of Chateau Fontainbleu. Her picture was on the tour, and the same picture hung in our room. If you enjoy authenticity and hospitality, this is the place for you! It was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, and clean. The owners are very friendly and will make you feel welcome.…
It's not often that a US traveler to France gets to go to an actual chateau in an actual forest and be a guest. The proprietors were kind and considerate and the nearby forest, Fontainebleau and Vaux-le-Vicomte made our stay wonderful. We stayed in the cottage, and while I completely understand that a centuries old chateau doesn't always have the most comfortable bed and bathroom facilities (in all fairness, we are both over 6 feet all, so most beds are pretty small anyway...)I would do it again in heartbeat. People are wonderful in this part of France, and if you get the chance to stay here, you won't forget it.
My husband and I stayed at the Château during our 10th anniversary trip to France. They upgraded us to the newly remodeled cottage which is very nice and cozy. The next day we biked within the chateau which was very relaxing. The Château is well maintained. Guy picked us up at the train station and was super helpful throughout the stay. Really appreciate it! We will definitely come back next time when we visit Paris.
Wonderful Chateau in excellent condition on a wonderful 100 acre wood. The Chateau is a work of art, the rooms are large and very comfortable and the service is excellent. The moat is beautiful and you can spend hours exploring the grounds on the Chateau's Bicycles. It is part of the Bienvenue au Chateau group which has many wonderful old Chateaus available. There is a great high end restaurant on the grounds and Cafe de la Paix and is in the Village just outside the gate. Great location just minutes from Fontainebleau in the Village of Bourron-Marlotte.
We have been lucky to be invited as a group to discover le Chateau de Bourron, a castle from the 16th Century. Before enjoying a lovely dinner, we had an "aperitif" in the cellar of the owner. Great place to hear a bit of the history of the place and of some wines being kept secretly in this place. The service has been full of attention and the experience for a crowd of international travelers quite unusual. That is the mystery and the beauty of some places in France. Thank you to the staff of the Chateau, it has been a lovely moment.
