Customer service was excellent, staff were always happy to serve and willing to address all needs as requested.
Food was average, but despite the lack of resources. They want to do everything to satisfy one's need.
Rooms can use more upgrades.
Cleanliness was paramount and it's a non stop operation.
Beach is great. With a couple of private beachs you feel like you are a king.
Entertainment is very good and throughout the day, you don't get bored even if you stay for few weeks.
The highlight is when the held a Canada Day dinner for which all residents were invited and a special show was presented.
The only drawback was when management failed to address the noise caused by few residents. The residents were playing loud music throughout the night without consideration to others. But if you stay in the Villa, you may not experience the noise disturbance.
It was a great experience overall.
Thanks to everyone worked and did their best to give us such a positive experience.

Pretty setting, nice location.
Buffet often late to open, food was very repetitive. Often waited to get a water or coffee until we were done our meal, take purification tablets as no drinking water provided in room either.
Bar had bare minimum basic, beer, rum and coke, Fanta.
Staff seem very unhappy, tipped well and gave gifts but did not seem to help us receive service.
Beach clean and lots of chairs, very interesting area if you walk off resort there is lots to see!
If you get a great price to book worth a trip!

I rested at the Hotel Amigo Guardalavaca at the beginning of April 24. It was the second time and the last. After the change of owner, the hotel completely deteriorated. 80% of Cubans change three times a week. And they are a priority. Forget about the romance of old Cuba, it’s not here! And they also hold forums + 40 people. The dining room is overcrowded with queues lasting 20 minutes, if you come an hour after opening, everything has already been eaten and drunk. Until 5 am they are running and banging on the corridor, it is impossible to sleep. Waiters forget to bring drinks if you don't tip. Loud music from every corner. Last time they gave me a villa, this time the general standard for the same money. It was not possible to change the number without a scandal. The villas are empty but they require an additional payment of $25 per day. They gave us a room with a non-working toilet and no minibar. At the reception they promised but nothing changed. Only on the third day after the intervention of a representative of the travel agency it was settled. Except for one thing - noise. In an unsanitary restaurant, uneaten food sits until the evening at 30°, drinks are diluted, and they also stand sour. Food is prepared without gloves. 1 bottle of bottled water was given for 2 weeks. Digestive problems are programmed! No sea or sun is a joy if you can’t get enough sleep. A good hotel for locals, not suitable for European tourists. Languages Spanish and English. For them, the main thing is money and not clients.

I'm not sure what world some of these reviewers were living in and what their expectations were for the price they paid. We stayed in a Villa at Club Amigo Atlantico for two weeks, March 12-26th, 2024 and it was one of the best times we have had anywhere in Cuba. We have been in many resorts all around Cuba and this by far was one of the cleanest (inside and outside) that we have ever stayed at. We have been to the high end and the low end of resorts as well so we are not newbies. Anyone going to Cuba right now should know that it is just about the worst economic times for them in decades. Yes, there are many shortages and the food can be repetitive and supplies inconsistent. We also had Lily for a housekeeper and she indeed is a Jem. We found that all the staff at this resort were very friendly and most accommodating when you greet them with a smile and treat them with the respect they deserve. We have been to The Brisas, Playa Pesquero and Don Lino over the years but this was our first visit to Club Amigo in this part of Cuba and we would most definitely return. We met many Canadians who have been going to this resort for years. One man has been there more than 40 times. Our advice to friends is that when you go to Cuba keep your expectations for luxury and gourmet meals on the low side and hope to be pleasantly surprised from time to time. If that's not good enough for you then spend thousands more and go to Barbados or Hawaii.

I thought I transported back to 1980s Canada; people are constantly smoking everywhere here. It's bad, guys. Usually at most resorts you're going to have people smoking, and after 47 trips to Cuba since 2015, I usually go with the flow, but this place was just too much. I ended up getting sinusitis and had to go on medication back home.

While the clientele are chain-smokers, it's mostly the layout that's the issue. The lobby, while open, has a cross-breeze from the front of the resort, to the back. So even if you're sitting in the 'non-smoking' section of the lobby bar, you're constantly being exposed to it. That being said, people regularly ignored the signs, which is absolutely ignorant. You know what a 'no-smoking' logo looks like --- (looking at you, French Canadians). The loungers at the pool are close together too, and the high number of guests that smoke at this hotel will make it impossible for you to enjoy lounging poolside.

The icing on the cake was when we attended our a la carte dinner at the snack bar in the evening, and a gentleman had to get up TO LIGHT A CIGARETTE in the middle of the service. You really can't wait /15 minutes/ man?!

We often took our drinks to go and went for walks along the boardwalk in the evening, which offered a lot of relief.

If you want people smoking in the lobby, the bars, the pools, and the dining areas, you'll be very happy. For non-smokers, you'll just be aggravated.

Once was enough for us.

"We've been loyal visitors to Hotel Club Amigo for 16 incredible years, returning twice a year. Lenar A. Concepcion Romero, the assistant manager, consistently goes above and beyond to ensure our stay is nothing short of exceptional.

The entire staff is truly amazing, always willing to exceed expectations. Special mentions go to Alexander, Inalvis, Thanya and Yaimara, who made our stay even more memorable.

Our rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable, boasting breathtaking ocean views. The entertainment team kept us engaged with activities like bocce, darts, bingo and exercise classes.

The hotel's prime location on Guardalavaca's stunning beach offered perfect opportunities for swimming, snorkeling and soaking up the sun.

I highly recommend Hotel Club Amigo for its outstanding value, picturesque setting and genuine hospitality. We can't wait to return!"

I was in "Starfish part" 2 weeks. food selection is limited specially for breakfast ( no eggs, bacon, no winners or sausages... ). Lunch and dinner are good, tasteful but because small number of guest variaty is smal and repeative. No any pop and forgot on Cuba libre, gyn tonic, pina colada.... and they just served "powder juices" of watermalon or mango or something similar and honestly taste is bad. Rooms are so nice and clean with balcony or terace with enough hot water. Wi-fi was very good and I had wi-fi in room even once I tried wi-fi on " the Pirata beach" and works. The best thing Benny restorant and gril 24/7 were less the 2 minutes easy walk from my room and the beach was less then 2 minutes away from room too. On the Pirata beach is bar but no beer there and normally no pop too. No water in hotel even no possible to buy in small store inside Club Amigo. At gril 24/7 sandwiches are great and usually served without french fries or they put a just few pieces of fries on plate. No ketcup, no mastard no mayo - salad bar is poor - fruits you can find some good days. From alcohol they served run, whiskey, wine and beer. Coffee at grill bar was excellent and I drink 4-5 every day. The staff really try to do their job on best way and they really make difference, but unfortunatelly situation on Cuba is bad and it reflect too hotels also. Across hotel is small bus station with very nice and cute night club that works 24 hrs and there is really nice to seat and take drink specially in night hours. If yo are not too picky about food you will for sure enjoy in peace there ( I was surprised how small number of guest was there specially I was there a many times in August). If you ask me will I again go there, I really do not know what to answer: I want again visit Club Amigo ( Starfish), but some things has to improve (pop drinks, breakfast) and specially they have to finally anounce what belonges to Club Amigo and what is Starfish because guest were many times bad surprised because security told them how some things are prohibited from them because they are in Starfish no in Amigo Club......

Travelled to the Villas at Club Amigo Guardalavaca, Cuba . I booked the Villa package with Sunwing from Sept 19-Oct10,2023. I stayed in Villa 1108. This villa has been renovated. Comfortable bed, step in tub with hand shower, a rubber bathtub mat for safety. Close in walking to Pirate beach, 24 hour bar, Benny More resturant, and tropical section. The Sunwing villa pkgs has many extra perks available free to those who book this pkgs all stated under extra features on the website description. Some that I enjoyed were Lunch and dinner at Beny More no reservation required for Sunwing Club members, Sunset evening wise to make a reservation as you get served wine and munchies, special dinner for sunwing villa members, Return guest dinner of course always nice to be appreciated for loyality. The Breakfast was always served with a smile from the 24hr bar by the staff as well as the excellent Chefs , the bar staff are always patient and smiling. Love those ham and cheese omelettes served so nicely on a large white plate after all we tend to appreciate a nicely decorated plate. The variety of choice of meals at Benny More was shrimp, beef steak, pork roast, Tilapia fish ,soup, salad and ice cream. Red wine most days but some times white wine or rose. always beer.Loved the Cuban Day and the bbqed pig with the buffet of rice, mashed potatoes and all the great other sides available. I cannot say enough about the service of all the staff and special thanks to Lenar and Ann. Must say that the improvements are ongoing and I certainly enjoyed them . Donnello makes the best margaritas. Cappuccinos at Tropical are woth the walk several times a day. The buffet is a place I can find something to eat. The hamburgers, hotdogs pizza and fries are always popular at the 24 hr bar. Even had poutine. If you are looking for ketchup and mustard Bring your own. Thanks to Roger, Loronzo, Chandy and all the Chefs that work so hard to make the food look appealing. Sorry for my spelling. The price is excellent from Toronto to take a long or short Holiday to Club Amigo. Go with an open mind and enjoy the beautiful beach and the friendly staff. I sure did and thanks to everyone,

A hotel like no other! A place that immediately feels like home! When you first arrive you are dropped off at the main lobby. The front desk staff are cheerful and happy to help check you in. Sometimes they are busy and a little patience goes a long way. There is an amazing team of bell men waiting to assist you to your room. Rooms range from simple no fuss no muss types to spectacular villas spread out over the property. Keep in mind this resort is pretty big! Let's Talk food: the buffet provides typical cuban food like rice, pork, beef, chicken, soup, vegetables (both cooked and raw) etc. But the real treat is the made to order pasta bar, fresh fruit station, carving station and grill. TRY THE ICE CREAM!!!!!! Every bite is an explosion of flavour!!!! Breakfast you can usually find things like sausage, bacon, pancakes, made to order eggs, omelets and other breakfast staples. They also have fresh bread and a toaster. The best breakfast though is usually found at the 24hr bar. It's a sit down and order dining style and never disappoints. Lunch you can usually find things like spaghetti, pork, chicken, ham sandwiches, hot dogs etc. They do have pizza but if you want the best pizza go to Riccos just above the beach on the path (it's off resort so you have to pay but it is more than reasonably priced and definitely worth the treat). The staff everywhere from gardeners, the bar, housekeeping, entertainment and everyone in between are some of the nicest people I've ever known! The entertainment is always fun. From darts, volleyball, bingo and many other games and competitions there really is something for everyone. Every night a spectacular show is put on. The water ballet, dark light show and the house band cocoa jambo have always been our favorite. From start to finish I can't say enough good things about this resort. It's no wonder it's been dubbed your home away from home! 16 years and multiple trips each year here and already can't wait to go back!!!!

The bus ride to the hotel is about 55 minutes. The buses are shared but several resorts so the the order of drop off will add another 15 minutes or so if Club Amigo is last to be dropped off. There are usually buses to Holguin City leaving from the hotel but with the fuel shortage this cannot be guaranteed.
