So we are preparing to leave the Eleni Hotel in Kefelos.
As a budget hotel it doesn't come better than this in our experience.
Rooms, yes they are dated and could do with a face lift but cleaned everyday except Sundays. And place is spotless. Personal issue I do not like a shower curtain.
Small fridge in room and hairdryer. Bring a travel kettle if you like a cuppa in your room.
Pool and bar and beds.
Spot on, cheap drinks and good bar snacks, Pool is spotless.
We are leaving after 2 weeks here and could not complain.
Breakfast although plain, bread, jam, eggs and cheese or ham and cheese, tea coffee, fresh orange. Tip ask for toast and they will provide it.
Lovely people met from UK, Germany, Russia and Holand.

Overall fully recommended for a nice quiet family run hotel with basic amenities, and basics for breakfast.
Thank you.

Let me make a premise: it is a two-star hotel, booked with a great deal in the middle of August.
That said, I think it takes some sense of adaptation, our experience is overall positive!
Let's start with the owners: very kind and helpful, they even suggested typical places to dine (great!)
The room: very small is true, but cleaned and arranged daily. The beds were two singles joined (this yes, I would improve it with a double!) linen change every other day (unless necessary, I for example left the towel in the shower to have it changed as needed!)
Position: THAT'S GREAT. You can walk to the beaches, close to markets and restaurants of Kefalos.
Swimming pool: small but well maintained and great for a swim even when returning from the sea!

The only thing I would really improve is the breakfast, in fact it is little varied, however I fixed every now and then with tea, bread butter and jam and I survived! But yes, maybe they could add yogurt and fruit!

On the last day we left our bags at the reception, having had to leave the room at 11 and having the flight in the afternoon!

Good budget hotel had all the basics you need. Friendly helpful family that run it. The AC in room was decent thankfully we needed it while we were there. It's in a good location close to all restaurants and shops but far enough away to be peaceful. Kefalos is really pretty. Don't expect a full English at breakfast it's standard Greek breakfast of ham, cheese and bread. Plenty of nearby places for other options

Very dissatisfied the hotel owners we not welcoming to us right from the begining. As the older gentleman showed us to our room he said we were lucky as it was his last room, we had booked this a year in advance so didn't quite understand why we had the last room available. As the holiday ensues,we became more and more disappointed with the breakfast on offer and no other choice given. We have stayed in many hotels and self catering establishments in Kefalos and have never know such an unfriendly place to stay. We booked bed and breakfast which on the first morning was apparent there was no choice other than eggs and ham or eggs and cheese. No fruit, yoghurt nothing, yes the hotel was very clean but at the cost of not being able to use our room between the hours of 1500 and 1800. Not ideal when you come from the beach and need to get showered to go out for something to eat as there were no facilities in the room to even make a drink. Nothing to drink from, and no way to make a sandwich or anything. When relaxing by the pool the owner would wander round and adjust the brolly for no rhyme or reason. The shower was broken and when we raised the issue the owner he just said does it work? When we said yes he then replies well it's not broken. We did not feel comfortable there the beds were like sleeping on straw mattresses. The pool however, was beautiful but sadly due to the owner constantly trying to adjust our sun shade we spent our time at the beach. But then very frustrated when we came back and couldn't get into our room. We were told by the elderly lady,it's her house she will clean when she wants. Never ever would we stay there again and it totally ruined our holiday. We had to buy a kettle just so we could make a drink in the morning, and we then had to pay for breakfast every day on top of what we had already paid for breakfast at the hotel. It was stressful and uncomfortable to stay there.

You get what you pay for, and for what this 10 day holiday cost we found our accommodation to be excellent value. We brought a kettle but as we were out and about didn’t need it often. The rooms are clean and regularly serviced with fresh towels and bedding. The bathroom was dated with that tiny Greek shower where the temperature offers surprises and the water won’t stay in the tray, but the sun soon dries the bath mat (line and pegs on the balcony) and it’s all part of the experience.
Balconies aren’t private.
The hotel is small, set back one small road away from the main road. Loads of tavernas supermarkets and a lovely geletaria are within a short walk and it’s about 20 minutes to the small harbour. It is Greek-family run by multiple generations. We found them all friendly and professional but not intrusive. They always smiled and said hello. There were a couple of distant cats. The garden area is well maintained as is the pool.
We paid extra for air conditioning 7e per day, safety deposit in reception a small charge and tourist tax is 1.5e per day. We were able to keep our room for late checkout as our flight home was in the evening, 35€.
Breakfast is simple and repetitive but more than adequate; bread, butter, jam, cheese slices, orange juice, tea or coffee, and either a boiled egg or ham/luncheon meat. You could eat outside or in. There is a small bar area near the pool serving simple food and various drinks from mid morning to late evening, no annoying music (except occasional bursts of baby shark for baby son of the young couple running it).
Plenty of parking between mature olive trees beside the hotel.

Family-run hotel, I think the lady is one of the owners who served breakfast and cleaned the rooms, always huffing and puffing if you asked her for something... right away as soon as we arrived. Breakfasts with bread and jam, never seen Greek yogurt or some croissants, one day cheese and ham the other eggs and cheese on alternate days. In the end we got bored and basically went to the supermarket to get brioches and Greek yogurt. Lots of people they came there for breakfast with their things from the supermarket, come on, it's shocking, never happened in my various travels😖 Let's move on to the rooms, we had asked for a double room and in the room there were two separate single beds (but the same is true in all the rooms... ) stained towels and sheets, really disgusting. If you want air conditioning it costs 7 euros a day, the shower with the curtain that was left in my hand every time. Lots of mosquitoes in the rooms. On the last day we had to leave the rooms at 11 in the morning as we had a flight at 11.10pm. I asked if we could take a shower before leaving the hotel, the answer was obviously negative. I don't recommend it, don't stay there. Very bad experience.

Family run hotel, older & younger generations involved. Older generation somewhat stuck before the modern era, with an inferred belief you shouldn’t complain or ask questions. Breakfast was poor & you’re served rations with no choice.

Booked a 3 bed apartment but was initially given a twin room with a complimentary bed. When I complained one of the older generations (original owner) announced it’s the holiday season, what do we expect, and if we didn’t like it, find somewhere else!

Tour operator was involved and eventually given a 3-bed room; itself had no TV on the wall, just a bracket and loose cables. Extraction in the bathroom wasn’t fitted.

To have air conditioning you needed to pay €7 daily.

Breakfast: this consisted of rations which included on alternating days:

Day 1 per person: 2 x slices of processed cheese (the type you get in packets to add with burgers), 1 x egg, bread rolls at your discretion. Orange juice (not fresh) and coffee/Tea

Day 2 per person: 2 x slices of processed cheese as above, 2 slices of ham, the type you get in packages that you might use in a bread roll. Bread rolls at your discretion. Orange juice (not fresh) and coffee/tea.

Day 3 is a repeat of day 1

Day 4 is a repeat of day 2 and the pattern continues.

Most guests were buying their own breakfasts from nearby convenience shop.

On last day, I went to pay for air conditioning and room tax, one of the older generation ladies advised payment had to be in cash. I questioned why considering I had used my car to buy drinks and food at the pool bar. Apparently they have no choice, it has to be cash. Personally I’m not convinced. The air conditioning is owned by the hotel, the room tax is effectively a tourism tax, not governed by the hotel. I was moaned at for asking the question.

Whilst writing this review, I know I’m not the only guest that had reason to complain.

It’s a no frills hotel, very basic and the website could explain in more detail what you can expect for your money.

Unfortunately I have to say that I absolutely do not recommend Hotel Eleni. Let's start with the very rude staff... and always snorting at anyone who asked them for something. The rooms were clean enough but too small, we had asked for a double room and they gave us a room with 2 single beds, the bathroom was tiny and you couldn't fit two people in it, we had a curtain as a shower which fell to the floor while we were washing, it you had to hold the spray bottle in your hand because it didn't hang by itself. If you wanted air conditioning it's 7 euros a day 🤮🤮🤮. Let's move on to breakfast, terrible, poor so much so that we went to the supermarket to get food, never seen Greek yogurt with brioches, in short something sweet, instant coffee practically disgusting, breakfast consists of bread or cheese one day and the other eggs bread and jam, nothing more 🤮🤮🤮Let's move on to the sheets with yellow stains from pee and towels washed but stained by hair dye etc etc etc...I have been to Greece several times in different islands and I have always felt comfortable as far as hotels are concerned, but here at the Eleni hotel we had a really bad experience with everything. I'm sorry to give a negative review but I couldn't help it. Very bad experience starting from the owners.

What a beautiful family run hotel. The whole place is spotlessly clean . The family make you feel welcome and will do anything to help. They work tirelessly to make your stay go smoothly.
Free WFI throughout . Breakfast is simple coffee/tea /juice , fresh bread , eggs, cheese, jam.
The pool is so clean and clear. Sunbeds free and very gets busy. Rooms have tv,good shower ,balcony. All spotless. Eleni perfectly situated. 2mins from the supermarket and main road .5 mins from the beach. So peaceful. I slept well .would I go back. YES.

We visited in September and what a beautiful little hotel. I cannot find anything I didn't like about this hotel. The staff, the cleanliness, Our rooms towels and bed linen were cleaned and changed daily, the beds were so comfortable too.
From the minute we arrived I fell in love with this little gem of a hotel. The manager was so lovely making sure we had everything we needed. The staff treat you like family with nothing being too much trouble.
I cannot wait to visit again

I think you can ask at the desk for a hairdryer. I always carry a little travel one. Not sure about irons. I wouldn’t worry though it’s a very relaxed vibe 👍 no one bothers about wet hair or creases 😏😆
