Ever since I saw “Under the Tuscan Sun” twenty years ago, I have dreamed of staying in a Tuscan villa. For several years, my husband and I have had a “Bucket List” trip that involved taking a cooking class in Tuscany. A friend knew of Tuscookany, Paola, and Casa Ombuto. She and her husband, another couple, my husband and I decided to go. We had the BEST time! Casa Ombuto is picture-perfect! Claudia and the staff take excellent care of everything. We were treated so well! Chef Paola is a rock star! Her dynamic personality, outstanding cooking skills, and vast experience provide a challenging, yet very fun, week of cooking. A highlight was meeting the other fellow students. We bonded in the kitchen and in sharing our creations for dinner. There were lots of laughs!! I highly recommend Tuscookany at Casa Ombuto.…

This was a spectacular trip. A bucket list item actually. We had the best time and met 12 other amazing people that we bonded with over cooking and eating. You will learn so much even if you are already a decent cook and if you are not, then you will build your confidence as you help prepare amazing meals with your new family. The food was nourishing to my body and mind. Fresh ingrediants locally sourced. The villa was lovely and relaxing. The pool and sauna a nice place to rest. The outing was so fun and a great way to see things we would not normally get to like an agritourisma of where they make cheese. The lunch there was so tastey. I loved everything about this trip. Paula made this trip for us. She is such a talented chef and an outstanding teacher. One of my best experiences ever and I was hesitant to go. I purchased the trip for my husband who loves to cook. We both had an indescribable time - I know that Paula played a key role in us feeling this way and having the experience that we did. Claudia, Alex and the entire team make you want for nothing!

A week of cooking at Casa Ombuto is everything you could hope to expect, and more. Under the expert guidance of world class chef Paola Baccetti, accompanied by her skilled support staff, even the most novice chef gains culinary confidence making a variety of dishes from scratch through to full course dinners expected at a five star restaurant. All in the setting of a beautifully updated Tuscan villa, the outside world and it’s worries evaporate for the week, being replaced by newfound friends with whom are made memories that will last a lifetime. The non cooking culinary excursion day completes the immersive experience. Claudia, the guest concierge and coordinator of all things practical, serves as a wealth of information while dealing with every guest’s needs and requests. She is a true delight to know. It was a pleasure to meet the owners, who greet each guest as a long time friend. Many guests have or will return for a “refresher”. This was my wife and my fifth time at Tuscookany (third at Ombuto). This itself makes testament to our feeling of the experience. Paola is an Incredible Chef! She successfully relayed the intrinsic components of Italian Food Philosophy & Production. She instructed and influenced a group of strangers with all differing ranges of Kitchen skills. Much respect and admiration for Paola's experience. Class experience was extremely valuable. Now the Casa Ombuto property. This Property is straight out of a Sofia Coppola Indie Movie! It's Luxurious, Beautiful and Decadent! Claudia, on-site property manager, was so attentive making the stay seamless! The excursions were so intimate and informative. The whole experience was such a dream trip. Highly recommend. I know I will be returning!!

Driving down the long track and then it opens out as Casa Ombuto reveals itself! What a journey! Stunning location with luxury, beautiful surroundings and the most amazing people. Chef Paolo kept our boisterous group under firm but loving control and I think we were all surprised at what we created. The range of dishes we cooked was far more than just pasta and tiramisu- even though we did cook those as well! Palio’s love of Tuscan ingredients and skill in the kitchen made her a delight to learn from - even though she was able to be tough when she needed to! Every day was a delight as our kitchen skills Increased and we learnt so much. I would highly recommend this wonderful experience and I fully intend to return - maybe a few times! The excursions to the vineyard, the farm and the olive oil producers were excellent and the pool, in the July heat of Tuscany were much appreciated. The women who worked in the kitchen supporting Paolo and all of us were amazing and even the gardener worked hard to make everything in the garden perfect. Thanks Lars and Pippa for creating such a gorgeous space that anyone who experiences it is changed by. What a week! Stunning!…

Incredible. Magical. Stunning. Overwhelming. BEST TRIP EVER. My trip to Casa Ombuto – Tuscookany was a long time coming. My sister and I have been trying to plan a "cooking in Tuscany" vacation for many many years, and we were finally able to make it happen – in celebration of my 50th birthday (2 years later). The stars aligned and we ended up having the most perfect week with an incredible group of new friends. We arrived very late due to some flight issues in Lisbon, but upon our arrival being driven through the gates, we could hear the laughter and knew we were in for an adventure. Greeted by hugs from Allison, Lars and Pippa we were brought to the table of new friends and immediately served wine and the first of four courses by Chef Paola. The introductions and warm welcomes were the perfect start to a week I will never forget. After an amazing meal and many (many) glasses of wine and aperitives, we settled into a VERY comfortable bed and rested up for the week ahead. There is no trip like this, and for anyone who is even considering a cooking vacation, look no further than Tuscookany...I still dream about this vacation 5 weeks later, and I look forward to the day when I can get back and do it all again... I had a wonderful week of learning about Tuscany, meeting new friends and cooking delicious food that I have already tried to replicate at home. Everyone at Casa Ombuto went out of their way to make me feel welcome a single traveler and by the end of the week it was like I was with family. The cooking classes led by Paola, a special woman, provided a wealth of information and techniques that I will use for years to come. The hiking was an added bonus and an opportunity to learn about the agriculture, history and people of the area. Again, this was a very special experience I will remember forever.

I can highly recommend this place! I had a fabulous week with fabulous people. The course is interesting and fun and the food divine! We had a lot of laughs and the location is stunning. Paola the Chef is a character and worth getting to know! She's an amazing cook and a great teacher. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. So go for it!

What a culinary adventure we had at Casa Ombuto. We can honestly say that ALL our expectations were exceeded and some!!!. This cooking course was my 50th birthday gift from my Fiance' Andy but we had to rebook it twice since March 2020 due to Covid. So when we finally arrived in beautiful Tuscany and the town of Poppi, we couldn't wait to get to Casa Ombuto. This has also been on my bucketlist since 2009, so it was a dream come true for me when we did finally drive into Casa Ombuto. Allyson, you are amazing and loads of fun as well. You made us feel part of the family from the moment we arrived and put a glass of wine in our hands. Chef Alice...what can we say that wasn't already said? You are an absolute delight!!! You truly do put your whole heart and soul into the cooking experience and your passion for food made this experience extra-ordinary. 😍 Thank you SO much for sharing this with us. Pippa and Lars, the owners, thank you for opening up your special place to us and for making it extra special by being there with us. You have both created something truly wonderful with your Casa Ombuto family and we couldn't wait to share it with our family and friend back in South Africa. An added bonus was that we met such incredible people on this course and will hopefully visit some of them in the USA next year. Thank you to everyone at Casa Ombuto and Liz at Tuscookany who made this adventure so special for us, nothing was too much effort for anyone. When we left, we felt like we were leaving family behind.
