Staying at Shambhala was an experience! A terrific, wonderful, beautiful experience.
I’ve often wondered what the inside of a log cabin would look like in today’s world. No Little House on the Prairie here! Audrey and Bogey, the hosts, have made their not so little log cabin home into a charming place that is beautifully decorated with many wonderful treasures and they gladly share stories about their pieces. They are also absolutely the best hosts you can ever expect to meet. You are welcome to sit in the Library or the Parlour and you will be busy looking about! Too busy to read. Relax! Enjoy! Look!
We enjoyed staying in the Queen suite. The main room is cosy with a screened in porch off the bedroom and it overlooks a treed area. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom, with a big walk-in-shower, was roomy and the suite was decorated with lovely decor and even a few teddies. The owners collect teddies, including a delightful pooch called Teddy. He adds to the charm of the place!
The grounds are peaceful and I took some lovely outdoor photos. There are places for you to sit and relax and enjoy nature. Enjoy the quiet. It’s all part of the experience. The winters must be beautiful here!
We also enjoyed the breakfast part of our stay very much. Breakfast was an experience, too. First, the table is beautifully set and the room, of course, was beautifully decorated and you can watch various birds at the feeder while you are eating and perhaps chatting with other guests. Audrey kindly shared her frittata recipe with me and I’ve made it once. Perfection! So yummy! I just didn’t have the various breads, homemade jams, meats, fruit, etc., to go with it! Or, the house specialty: blueberry muffins! The breakfasts were amazing!
If you are looking for a special place to stay in the Buckhorn area, this is it! For this review, I’d love to be able to give more than five stars!

We were looking for something out of the ordinary for our mini vacation in the Kawartha Lakes area, and found it in this amazing B&B . The hosts/owners ( Audrey and 'Bogey' ) are super friendly and welcoming, and had many useful suggestions re places to visit in the area. I will try to post pictures of the beautiful home and surrounding gardens ... highly recommended !

Truly as advertised. Audrey and Bogey welcomed us and our small dog with open arms. This home is absolutely gorgeous, extremely well appointed and at another level.
While fall had descended on the plant life the trails were still a pleasure to walk. The breakfast was provided hot and delicious with homemade baked goods and jams. Our small Shiatzu puppy was equally welcomed even if Teddy thought her too young, she too had a great time. Highly recommend. Ken & Barb - Peterborough Ont.

Just spent 5 days/4 nights at this mystical place. Both Audrey and Boogie was great
The breakfast was like a five star hotel with freshly baked blueberry muffins every morning in the bread basket.
Will be back very soon.

To say we had an extraordinary stay is an understatement! As beautiful as the website is our experience exceeded our expectations in all ways!
Audrey and Bogey’s charm and graciousness made us feel right at home from the minute we arrived there! And their home is a treasure chest of beautiful delights from around the world.
We were surrounded with beauty from the minute we stepped out of our car …the gardens are lush and graceful…everywhere you look there are little secret spaces to sit and meditate.
And the breakfasts… Ahh the breakfasts! Every morning we feasted like royalty! Fresh fruits, grilled sausages…custardy quiche, or a luscious frittata.. or fluffy blueberry pancakes are just a few of the yummy offerings…and every day the famous blueberry muffins… Along with homemade jams… we were sated with the beauty and the tastes in our morning meals!
Thank you for being such amazing hosts… We look forward to seeing you next year!

Our overnight was a great experience so great we bought a home six miles away!! The Von Bogens , Audrey and Bogey are wonderful people and pillars of this amazing community. They have been doing this for years and it shows in the way you are treated. This is a lovely home filled with so many interesting artifacts you may spend your whole holiday just wandering around the house. The home is surrounded by nature. If you are within 100 miles of here it is a must stay. Come and meet the hosts, then enjoy the Hamlet.

Visited the area for a wedding and stayed in the Family Suite and it was lovely! What a perfect weekend with warm hospitality from our hosts Audrey and Bogey. Marley, our Airedale Terrier, was also welcomed so it made our stay extra special. The blueberry muffins were absolutely delicious!

The pictures on the web are lovely, but they don't compare to the real-life beauty of this magical place. The scenery is truly breathtaking, and we felt at peace from the moment we arrived. Audrey and Bogey were excellent hosts, and gave us good suggestions about what to see and where to eat in the Buckhorn area. All of their ideas were top-notch. It is obvious from their great attention to detail that they love their home, their land, and the wildlife around them. Honestly, we spent more time enjoying their property than we did touring the region....we couldn't pull ourselves away. There is something very special about this place, and we would encourage anyone who wants to truly 'get away' to visit Shambhala.

I had the most wonderful experience at Shambhala. Audrey and Bogey made us feel so welcome. Our room was exceptional: comfortable beds, nice décor, but the breakfast was best of all. Audrey makes the best blueberry muffins I have ever had. The B&B is situated in a beautiful natural setting. We'll definitely be back.

We are so pleased that we found and stayed at this B and B for three nights. We stayed in the queen suite which was lovely. Bed comfortable, room clean, nice outside area where you could sit almost bug free in the evenings, because if the mesh sides. The hosts here, Audrey and Bogey, are the nicest people you could ever meet and this is what really made our stay. They make an amazing feast for breakfast and sit down with you and the other guests, and have like a family breakfast. They have some lovely stories to tell and are just so helpful with ideas of things to do in the area. Whilst we were there we had some car issues and they were so kind and helpful to us as we did not have a working mobile phone. We would happily stay again and already miss the wonderful food (blueberry muffins, frittata, scrambled eggs, to babe a few) and the company. We felt that we made friends with these people and there lovely dogs. If you get a chance stay here!
