Was looking forward to a night in Shimba Hills. Booked Paradise suite full board. The Lodge turned out to be a rather run-down hotel which could use a makeover. Food was served in a tacky restaurant with dirty tablecloths and loud television in the bar. Lunch tasted like it came straight out of a can and put in the microwave. Also didn't expect much after meeting the “chef” In dirty clothes smoking a cigarette on the terrace. Because of the great views you put up with it and give it a try. Also thanks to Carol(ine) for welcoming service. In the meantime the waterpump of the room collapsed. I understand that it can’t be fixed easily but we waited forever to hear from "a manager" if there was some sort of solution. Even though we were the only guests it took forever and nothing

We stay here one night while we were on a 3 day safari tour. We slept in one of the tents, which had an amazing view over the valley! The bathroom in the tent was also very nice! We experienced no problem whatsoever with the warm water. The biggest downfall is the food. The menu is quite limited and you are kind of pushed to pick an entire menu of 20$.

Unpleasant stay. We stayed there on 2 different occasions and both times the stay was ...weird ..to say the least. Rooms are large and pretty but there is no hot water and at times there was hardly any water. Pool is not taken care of. It's very small and was full of debrees. Hotel in pretty location and overlooking canyon. We didn't see any animals though. Personal is quite funny . They were directing is where to sit and what to choose for dinner. Many options were not available and we were pushed toward ordering what they obviously wanted us to order. Then tea time came and it consisted on only ...tea. Our waitress didn't even want to give us second cup of tea. I never seen such cheapness in a hotel where you pay more than 150$ a night. At dinner our waiter kept asking

Without doubt one of the favorite hotels I've been to in Kwale. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) and the restaurant supervisor deserves a special thanks. We had one great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience.
