I can't praise this place highly enough. From the marvellous welcome by the charming owner, Tonia, to her exceptional interior design and the architecture of the hotel itself, which sits elegantly but unobtrusively in the beatutiful landscape of this quiet valley, all works perfectly to give one a sense of peace and contentment. The attention from the charming staff in this six roomed hotel is unobtrusive but immaculate. Breakfasts overlooking the pretty valley and the Temple of Demeter are delicious (though huge) and prepared from local produce, even from the hotel's own garden. Our room was very comfortable, with a very private terrace overlooking the temple. If you prefer your beaches unspoiled there is one fifteen minutes away to the south. It is the ideal place from which to explore the island and the owner can give you excellent advice on where to go and what to see even if you have done your homework already. It is very, very good value. We were planning our return next Spring before we had even driven out of the gate!

Ayiopetra is a special place and I am glad that I found this exclusive getaway: I loved... + The unique location - a private place to rest and relax. + The food - it was delicious, especially breakfast was so generous (prepared with products from Naxos and out of their garden). + The swimming pool, the pool area and the view over the countryside are magic. + The suite, its interior design and the passion for detail. + The family, its owners and its staff for their kindness and hospitality

It's not easy to find words that do justice to such a magical place. It's the second time I visited it and it's absolutely magnificent. Naxos is a great island with a lot to offer but I could just stay in Ayiopetra and go nowhere else. It's the definition of relaxation and peace that one could ask from their holidays. This beautiful and luxurious cluster of stone houses is situated on a hillside overlooking a peaceful plain and the temple of goddess Demeter, one of Naxos's most important historical landmarks. The whole hotel is designed in a very stylish and unique way, something that Tonia and Dimitris have personally undertaken. It's as if they have put their soul into it. The rooms are very elegant and spacious and the tranquility and vibes of the place help someone have one of the best sleeps of their lives. In the morning there is one of most fantastic breakfasts awaiting on the pool terrace. It's literally a 5-course breakfast, comprised of a vast variety of locally sourced products that create a gastronomical miracle. Tonia personally explains what each one of the seven different home-made unique jams is or all the different toppings that you can use with the delicious naxian yogurt. Even the butter is one that cannot be found anywhere else. All in all, it's one of the most complete and tastiest breakfasts I've encountered in my life. Dinner of similar, unparalleled quality can also be served upon request. Thank you all very much for an unforgettable stay and it is really a lifetime experience that I wholeheartedly recommend!!

I could not recommend more the labour of love which is Ayiopetra. My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful stay here - it was the most personal and curated stay we have ever had. Tonia, Dimitris, Caterina (and their cute pet helpers Fudge and Socrates!) are the most welcoming team. The hotel is situated in the idyllic central Naxian plain, in front of the Temple of Demeter, goddess of agriculture and fertility - one can see why this very ancient temple was situated here. The positive energy of the location is tangible, and felt from the moment one steps out of the car - it feels like a new lease of life is awaiting you. The hotel itself is as boutique as it gets: simply stunning, curated down to every detail, and built with natural stone from the adjacent village (Sagri, on the outskirts of which the hotel is situated). The building nests itself peacefully on an hillside, in complete harmony with the local aesthetic and traditions. It blends in seamlessly with its surroundings, and on its splendid pool terrace it is easy to remain in awe of Naxos' natural beauty, day or night (when the sky lights up with a myriads of stars and one can see the Milky Way, so little is the light pollution). This is the sort of sky you dream of, when you live in a city. The horizon is almost infinite on Naxos. Tonia and Dimitris can give you interesting information on the Temple and the surrounding churches, monasteries, and villages, so you feel at one with the environment. There is even an easy c. 3km hike to the Temple, starting just a few minutes walk away from the hotel. The path unfolds placidly through the valley, amongst olive trees and hay fields, following the ancient rural ways. It truly is a bucolic paradise. But the exceptional moment at Ayiopetra is the breakfast - it is served as it should be: incredibly wholesome, local and homemade. There are Tonia's jams (7 of them!), local butter and eggs (from cows and chicken you can actually see on the road to the village), fresh breads, local yoghurt with honey and cereals, delicious Naxian cheeses and freshly picked fruits from Ayiopetra's gardens (including the Mediterranean classic, barbarian figs which are ubiquitous in the valley). The meal is almost a ritual, served at the perfect pace to give you a truly blissful start of the day. The team remembers every detail you mention and makes sure each day your breakfast is even more personalised. For example, I may have hinted I like prickly pears (aka the aforementioned barbarian figs) on the first morning. From the second morning onwards not two, but three or four arrived on the fruit platter without me mentioning a word more, always with a host of other delicious ripe fruits. In itself the breakfast time is something to look forward to every morning - you cannot help but feeling pampered. A spontaneous human bond forms in the presence of genuine hospitality, through the ritual of sharing food, each meal prepared for the pure reason of eliciting happiness and sharing one's love of their native island through the fruits of the land. Finally, and to speak of more mundane matters - Ayiopetra was very safe in terms of covid-19: the use of masks, gloves and hand sanitiser is ubiquitous yet discrete, and all the rooms are sterilised in between visits. I felt safe and our stay was overall incredibly relaxing. Overall, this is the sort of stay which leaves you feeling wholesome, refreshed, and very grateful.
